Is dimetrodon classified as a mammal or reptile ?
So synapsids or mammal like reptiles as they used to be called are they technically mammals or reptiles ? They now call them stem mammals but most information I see on them calls them mammal like ? So does that mean there not true mammals or are they reptiles or something in between i just find it very confusing

People calling things like Dimetrodon, pterosaurs, and prehistoric marine reptiles dinosaurs really gets on my nerves
Dinosaurs yes are slightly related to pterosaurs but they Branch out at different parts of the evolutionary tree. Dimetrodon was not at all a dinosaur in fact it is more related to humans then dinosaurs. Prehistoric marine reptiles yes things like plesiosaurs are related to dinosaurs however Mosasaurs were Branched way off the evolutionary tree from dinosaurs they were one lepidosaurs and 2 they were much more related to crocodiles. There were no non-avian dinosaurs that could fly , no dinosaurs that lived underwater, and no dinosaurs that existed before the early Triassic. Some dinosaurs did swim yes like the Spinosaurus, and some non-avian dinosaurs could Glide, and yes archosaurs did exist before the early Triassic. But I am sick and tired of people saying" oh look at that dimetrodon what a good dinosaur" or" mosasaurus was one crazy dinosaur". I'm just so tired of it and if I hear one more person call Dimetrodon, a Proto mammal, a dinosaur I will bash my head into a wall and scream
