UPDATE: Got a picture of the bank of cylinders from the head we removed, you can clearly see on the rear cylinder where the valve smacked the piston when it was still attached and when it was no longer attached. After a quick inspection of the other bank, found basically the same except none broke.

Misfire on all cylinders bank two with negative fuel trims?

My 2008 Cadillac STS is fighting with all its will to not run right. I have already done the time of chains. In the process I switched the coils and cam actuators to see if the problem would switch banks, it did not. Still miss on cylinders 2,4,6. Any guess what to look at next? The cat temps stay within in 50 degrees on each other so I don’t think it’s a plugged exhaust either. Basic Compression test should good compression on all cylinders. One weird thing it does is goes into engine reduced power mode but only at idle. If I rev it a could times it kicks out of engine reduce power mode and drives relatively fine just low power. Any guesses what this could be??? I’ve found a few caddy’s with the 3.6 with the same problem misfires kn all cylinders on one side of the engine but have yet to see anyone who solved it.

Does anyone think Ford will add the 2.0 turbo i4 to the outer banks model or make it optional for the base models? I love my big bend model but I couldn’t imagine buying a 3 cylinder. The badlands as well is just too off road oriented for daily driving. If my big bend came with it I’d buy for sure

Why do late model Subaru engines have different cam phasers for the left and right cylinder banks?

I've noticed that looking from the front the left cylinder bank has significantly larger cam phasers than the right bank. On the left side both the intake and exhaust phasers are the same size and the right both intake and exhaust are smaller.

I would understand if the exhaust on both sides was a different size from the intake cams but this isn't the case.

Why are twin turbos often used over one equivalently larger turbo in engines with two banks of cylinders? (Two questions inside...)

I've heard that the reason each bank of cylinders gets its own smaller turbo instead of one big one is because two smaller turbos will spool up faster. (Is it also because you need less PSI on two smaller turbos than one bigger one to get the same power?)

QUESTION 1: Assuming what I've been told is correct, let's say there's a V8 engine and each cylinder bank feeds its own turbo. With the same ultimate power goal, why would four cylinders worth of air spool up a small turbo faster than eight cylinders worth of air would an equivalently big one?

QUESTION 2: Let's say two banks of four cylinders each at WOT take 2 seconds to spool up two small turbos to 15 PSI each. What if instead, the same engine fed both banks into one larger turbo and that turbo's size was chosen solely by the requirement that it also took exactly 2 seconds to spool up to 15 PSI. Which engine would create more power?
