I am talking simple dishes with minimum tools and few ingredients that can serve many dishes. The book will focus on a few techniques that can produce a variety of dishes, and will follow up with shopping lists to produce a month's worth of food for 2-4 broke hombres.
This would be based on the cooking I did for me and a roommate while I was in college. We were/are big guys, and I fed both of us for $100/month. These days would be closer to $150/200.
Cheap, delicious, fulfilling, and not vegan/vegaterian. Is there interested
As we all know official support for Shadowrun 5e is over. Shadowrun 6e is the latest edition. But that doesn't mean we as the community will just let it go. I'm happy to announce the play test release of the Neon Anarchist Cookbook, an unofficial Shadowrun 5e non-profit, non-commercial, free to share, fan book made by the members of /r/NeonAnarchy The book has over 40 pages of homebrewed content such as new Augmentations, Gear Weapons, Adept Powers, Spells, Metamagics, Traditions, new Mentor Spirits, Echoes, Martial Arts, Qualities and new Shapeshifters. The book is compatible with 5e Rules As Written.
The plan is to do 1-2 months of play test to tweak the game balance before final release. The final release will hopefully have more balanced game mechanics as well as other additions like flavor fiction. The reason why I'm sharing this here is because I welcome anyone on this community to play test this fan work in their respective home games. I'll be happy to receive any feedback from your experience should you decide to try it out at your table. If you have any feedback based on your playtest please post below as a comment or PM me over Reddit or Discord.

FAQ
Will the final version be free?
Absolutely! As per the Topps rules. We don't own any of Shadowrun. Not a cent was earned in the making of this fan book. Its all free and can be used and shared as you please.
Will there be fiction or more fluff in the final version?
Its still being discussed but yes its likely that the final version will have some short stories to break up the flow of crunch, just like in official splat books. If you have a really good piece of writing to share please post below as a comment or PM me over Reddit or Discord. All fan added content is properly credited.
Will there be more Shadowrunner comments?
While we have included some Shadowrunner comments for the various new gear, we didn't get enough to for all the new gear added. So if you have a Shadowrunner you like and want to add in a clever or funny comment about a piece of gear in the book with no other comments, feel free to post below as a comment and I'll try to add it in the final release. Anything under the Gear section is open for Shadowrunner comments.
Will there be more art?
All art is donated by people who have commissioned them,
... keep reading on reddit β‘If you haven't picked up the book, you should consider it. Of the cookbooks I've been exposed to it's by far got the lowest barrier to entry to cook from. Plain language, describes every technique, great illustrations.
But the biggest thing is it's divided into 2 sections. The "elements of cooking" and the recipes. The former (which is half the book's length) is a culinary course that covers just so much. Techniques, ingredients, the science behind how cooking works, how to improvise, etc.
The book sets out not to be a list of recipes to make, but to teach you how to cook with what you've got. And it succeeds.
Basically, it teaches you how to cook, not just how to make things.
Edit: I see both a lot of love and a lot of hate coming from the Netflix show.
Please bear in mind that the Netflix series is really just promotional material. It's not an adaptation. Don't make a judgement either way based on it. And yes, anyone that's touched the book can tell some of the people complaining in the comments watched the show without touching the book.
Edit 2:
For those of you wondering about if you should buy the book after watching the show, here's my suggestion.
If you liked the show, buy the book. Regardless of what you liked about the show, you will find more of it in the book and will enjoy it.
If you didn't like the show because it didn't teach you much, buy the book anyway because the book teaches what you were expecting the show to.
If you didn't like the show because you didn't like her or the tone the show set, do not buy this book. It is more of her and the tone is the same, you will not enjoy it.
What cookbook do you have has recipes that arenβt feasible for you, either because of technique or required equipment/ingredients? For example, Iβve got Magnus Nilssonβs βThe Nordic Cookbookβ and thereβs a recipe in it that calls for puffin. Granted, that cookbook is awesome as a sort of Nordic cultural artifact but still, much of whatβs in that book will never be made by me. I still love it, though.
Iβm trying to reduce my meat and seafood consumption for environmental reasons, I otherwise have no qualms with eating animals or animal products.
Iβm looking for cooking resources that are vegetable-forward but still highly focused on flavor and creating interesting recipes. Often I find cookbooks that are marketed as vegan or vegetarian to have more of a focus on creating vegetarian versions of "normal" dishes through smart substitutions (black bean burger, tofu stir fry, jackfruit taco, etc.)
Iβm not really interested in that, more so in recipes that highlight the qualities of the vegetable itself as Iβm lucky to have access to good quality seasonal produce. Tbh the recipes donβt even have to be vegetarian at all, Iβm fine with something like cooking down a ton of greens in small amount of bacon fat.
Plenty by Ottolenghi is one that Iβve really enjoyed, if that helps to give an example of what Iβm looking for.
