A list of puns related to "Coliform"
Just bought a new house and this is my first time with well water. Water tests came back positive for coliform and e. coli.
coliform 2.0 MPN/100 mL
E. coli <1.0 MPN/100 mL
I treated with a recommended chlorine shock. The person who tested recommended I do it annually. Does that sounds like a reasonable recommendation? Is there any sort of water treatment system I should consider installing to help prevent contamination in my drinking water? Just looking for a second opinion on what was already recommended.
I need some help finding the best differential media for determining the presence of coliform and enterococci from swabs.
I know there are several differential media for coliform, but which are most recommended and what can I use for enterococci?
Iβm having a hard time finding a straight answer about this. We donβt drink this water, but I bought a test kit mainly to make sure there was nothing super scary in it since I water my vegetables from it. Everything came back ok except itβs positive for coliform bacteria. Is it unsafe?
Hello, I'm looking for some perspective on the results of a recent test of my well water.
56CFUs (coliform bacteria units) / 100ml
I know that in most places in the world, the safe limit is regarded as 0. But this means that I have no idea of the severity of my result.
How bad is it? Like toilet water bad? Or bad but not shocking? Any advice that could give me perspective would be very helpful! Thanks in advance.
So a little over a month ago when getting well sample from faucets, Arsenic and Coliform was discovered. They said no E. Coli. The well was shocked and tested for coliform, and it tested negative.
A filtration system was added a few days ago and it tested positive for coliform again. The seller is installing another filtration system that is supposed to filter out coliform, but now Iβm starting to get wet feet here.
Iβve recently discovered that the owner never pumped their septic tank and would let it overflow. She itβs natural for the environment. On top of it, when the septic tank was inspected, neither myself or realtor were let known the day it was happening. We just received the paper work saying it was good.
Iβm a first time home buyer. I was supposed to close today but Iβm not signing anything until I get another sample back. Iβm considering having a sample taken straight from the well.
Any recommendations? Iβm really not sure if I should just walk away. I really like the house/property but I donβt want issues with my water.
We are in the process of purchasing an existing home. During inspection, the water test turned up Coliform. House has drilled well with a water softener and some kind of chlorinator installed currently.
A UV Filter seems to be the best answer. Our agent asked the seller to consider putting one in, but in this beyond crazy real estate market (Hudson Valley NY) we are not optimistic.
What would be the best way to find a company to supply and install a filter? Any alternatives we should consider? What is the general range we should expect to pay?
Update. The seller has not used this house since March and the feeling was the presence of Coliform could be due to no use of the system. They have agreed to flush the system shock the well, then retest. If anything shows up again, they will install a UV filleted at their expense.
Hello.
Iβm buying a house on well water. I did a water inspection and turns out there is Coliform. The inspection company recommended UV treatment. Will cost me $1.7k and another $200/year to maintain it.
Curious to learn what others have done and any pros/cons on your experiences with it. Thanks
New well is slow, so we have a trickle tank to accumulate water. Did a bacteria test from the tank, got 200 coliforms, no ecoli.
Thinking the tank might not of been sanitized before install - so I installed a valve before the tank, to sample direct from well. I bleached all the parts before hand, bleached end of hose I spliced, and installed with gloves on.
Sample from that valve had 9 coliforms, no ecoli.
I know the standard is zero - but is 9 on the 'good enough' side, or not?
I live with my mom. Our water was recently tested, and it gas coliform in it. We were told its probably fine to shower, and brush our teeth. May be worse now idk. I've been going through an episode, and havnt been eating much. My mom made soup, and asked if I could please eat. I am really hungry, but don't want to eat it, because it was washed with the water. She freaked out, and now she's crying in her room. Aita for not eating it?
Is there a limit for coliforms in beverages (specifically energy shots) before QC rejects the finished batch? I know that there is the recommended limits for frozen precooked foods, raw meats, and some milk products are in the range of 10 or less coliforms organisms per g. Two different batches that were tested for coliforms where the result was 10^3 cfu/g. These batches were also tested for E.coli, Pseudomonas, S.aureus, and Salmonella/Shingella where the results were absent. Please advise on this inquiry.
