A list of puns related to "Coffeepot"
The part of the episode where Dawn gets fired really bothers me. He was really heartless about it, he pulled her aside and just told her βYou have to go home.β It was pretty harsh. And the reason she was fired was because her cooking skills werenβt up to par - but it was said earlier in the episode she was originally supposed to be managing the dining room and ending up cooking too. I donβt get why she couldnβt be given another shot as dining room manager, it was pretty clear she was given too much to handle and was overworked. Ijs
i know in coffeepots the water evaporates and rises up through the ground coffee and condenses in the upper chamber creating coffee. So basically would doing this with tree make like weed drink? plus would the heated water count as decarbing?
This morning while rinsing out my Mister Coffeepot carafe I chipped the tip where it pours out, I was about to just toss the tiny chipped piece but my SO thinks this makes the tempered glass easier to randomly shatter? I can't find info via Google, help? I'd rather not have to completely replace a carafe for one tiny chip.
Edit: Thanks for the advice everyone, I have thrown it out and will use that dang French Press I bought a while ago and hardly use...
... what? I just thought it sounded nice.
Here are a few anecdotes I'll share to set the scene of Coffeepot Queen's glory days (aka, DH's childhood). The insidious thing about the Coffeepot Queen is that at first glance, she seems like the PERFECT mother. Far from it, friends.
When he was a child, he was not allowed to watch anything she deemed "inappropriate" (ex: Power Rangers). Same with music. And gaming (he's an avid gamer now, something she wholeheartedly despises). None of this is crazy, taken one at a time. But slowly, all of the puzzle pieces fit together.
Such as...she was also an obstacle remover. DH was a golden child, often sickly (she loves that), and very malleable and close to her (until he grew up and realized she's a nut). He had terrible allergies and asthma as a kid, and even developed a weird syndrome due to a few factors (won't get too specific), which was inadvertently caused by treatment from an allergist. Looking back, DH finds it ODD that she continued to take him to the same doctor for years, even though he never got better and they never got a second opinion. I will tell you why. It's because I truly believe she is a mild narcissist, who thrives on people needing her, which a sickly kid fit the bill perfectly. I'm also basing this observation on her absolute glee in being the go to family caretaker for the elderly in DH's family, and somewhat on her behavior when FIL passed (different story, but it will be told eventually).
Other notable shit she did:
When DH was in college, and would leave his used textbooks on his bookshelf. She removed/hid/disposed of his human anatomy textbook, because god forbid BIL (who is a decade younger than DH) see an anatomical sketch of the female body.
She would not allow her sons to experience emotion. If there was ever conflict, her go to response was "it's your fault you feel this way" and "give it to God." You can imagine the repercussions of this as an adult. (Oh she still does this BTW. Not in front of me though, she knows I'll tell her to knock that shit out)
She often called DH lazy, which on top of his medical issues, made him feel like shit and he's still super sensitive about that.
There's more. She wasn't crazy abusive or terrible to them as children. But her mindfuckery is next level, and I swear DH and BIL will be dealing with the emotional fallout from her for years. Basically, she's a control freak that loves to wear the stepford wife mask.
More to come!
I would like to start this by saying that I am VERY new to reddit but I've been lurking for awhile and I feel like it's time to share my justnomil with you all. My first story is one of my favorites to tell, and effectively sums up the level of JN that she is. Background: DH and I have been married 3ish years, but we've been together 7ish years. We have a DS (toddler). This story takes place about a year and a half after we were married, and shortly after DS was born. It's a month before Christmas, and she calls DH up and asks him what I would like for Christmas. I will preface this by saying that I expect nothing! I truly do not even care about gifts. Well, he asks me and I tell him I need a new coffeepot because we broke our carafe, and the replacement carafe cost almost as much as the whole unit. Plus, this is about a $20 coffeepot. We like to keep things simple. Fast forward to Christmas. She gives smelly hand lotions and expensive GAP clothes that NEVER fit me. I am a curvy girl, nothing fits me from GAP. Anyway, it was probably $70ish worth of clothes. But, no coffeepot. Well, BIL tells us later that FIL (who is now deceased; different story for a different day) got really excited about getting us a nice coffeepot and was talking to her about getting us one like theirs. And that JNM threw a fit! Their coffeepot was too expensive, we didn't deserve that, etc etc. Even though 1. It's what we actually needed and 2. We did not ask for the expensive one (side note- these people are relatively wealthy, money is only an issue when it comes to her greed). I ended up giving DH my clothes to exchange at Gap for work clothes for him. And I went out and bought my own damn coffeepot. Hence, her forever JNM name: Coffeepot Queen.
What I learned from this little lesson of hers: get your own shit, because even if someone asks what you would like, they will just do what they want anyway.
Can't wait to share more stories of the Coffeepot Queen (she's super religious, hordes money like a dragon, and most likely a narcissist, so I have a lot of ground to cover!)
This book was set in the FUTURE, although I'm sure it was published in the 90's or early 2000's. In this book the protagonist dreams for other people, like someone will send him (or HER?) their nightmares and he experiences them for a client. This way the client can get a good, peaceful, dreamless night's rest.
Maybe the protagonist got a dream he wasn't supposed to have? or the work itsself was considered kind of shady? All I remember was that these dreams made him like physically sick. He was depressed, and so am me.
This must have been written at the early stages of the internet. I probably read this around 1999~2003, when kids were just starting to use the internet I had a lot of interest in HACKERS and INTERNET stories.Β I know this book was about the internet because there was a scene where the characters got into a car and drove through the Information Super Highway, and they were experiencing internet pop up ads as if they were physically real, like billboards. There were also internet "GRANNIES" which were like old ladies that policed teen's usage of the internet. They were huge grannies who would scold teens if they drove to like, porn sites or whatever.
There was also a TALKING coffeepot. But not only did it talk, the way that it POURED coffee was very weird. It basically stood over a teacup and then PEED INTO IT. Folks, I just want to read the book where the coffeepot PEES INTO THE COFFEE MUG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EDIT: the coffeepot definitely had legs, it wasn't like a kruger. this was before kruger. it had legs and walked over to the cup and squatted and PEED THE COFFEE OUT SLDKJF
These two notes make me wonder if this was a book for teens?? But it was before YA books really became what they are now. Like this was probably a shitty paperback book, but I really can't remember, my library had two different sections for teen readers and I could never figure out which one I was supposed to be in. I was probably around 11-13 when I read this. I am also certain that the protagonist was a full grown adult and Not A Teen.
I just feel like a lot of books these days envision what "experiencing the internet/video game but it's like real life now wow!!!!!" but this book was maybe one of the first ones to do it, so I really want to read it and compare it to modern cyber whatever stories!
Thank you so much!!!!!
