A list of puns related to "Cardinal Number"
This might seem crazy for some of yβall but the compass numbers are not correct for every member of your squad but the cardinal directions always will be. It makes for easier target acquisition as your squad will know in what general direction to look
You can still use the numbers when you are talking to someone right beside you but when spaced out the numbers are in reliable
Apologies to anyone that saw this recently posted on /r/baseballunis - I accidently deleted it, and then figured I'd post here since it's a slightly bigger sub.
I'm new(ish) to collecting jerseys, but over the course of the pandemic, I've have for whatever reason become very interested in it. Unfortunately, I've also learned the hard way about buying 'deals' that end up being fakes during the last year. I'm still learning what to look for, while also figuring out what I personally like in 'style'. When it comes to baseball, and specifically for the St. Louis Cardinals, I really like the current authentics that have the front numbers. Which brings me to following questions in relation to older Cards jerseys:
Did Majestic ever make authentic jerseys with front numbers in the mid-2000's? Similarly, did they ever produce with the two-tone back letters/numbers?
I have to imagine that they did, and I'm just curious if anyone has one. I'd just like to see how they look.
I have a couple from 2006-2009, but they are the replicas (see below). I'd buy a kit for the front, but the all-red numbers on the back just never looked right to me. I also don't want to customize something like an Edmonds jersey now with a Nike swoosh on it knowing that he isn't a current player - again, just wouldn't look right (to me, that is).

Anyway, just looking to see if anyone might have one and willing to share a photo of it. I can't find any examples anywhere!
I'm American and my Australian boss says things like "March five" or "August twenty-three" instead of "March fifth" or "August twenty-third". I have never heard an American say this...is it an Aussie thing or is he weird? And if it is a thing...why??
edit...sorry meant to say why DO you use cardinal numbers
Edit: Background... Some bank personnel or even cashiers would ask "ano po iyon?" when an old soul like me (here in Metro Manila) colloquially speaks and prefers Spanish numbers. It led me to think is this dying out? Tagalog numbers do not often go beyond 10 when spoken so here is the question.
I am so sorry Pirate fans.
Over the last 8 years, we've seen the unfortunate decline of one of the greatest players ever, but this post is going to try and outline how INSANE Pujols 11 year Cardinal career (2001-2011) was, and how his awards/ranks would look like if Bonds (99-07) and other confirmed juiced seasons were wiped from the record books.
Yes, people have accused Pujols of juicing, but considering his dominance long after the steroid era, you have to give him more leeway.
All rankings don't include confirmed juiced seasons
Basic numbers (per 162):
Albert averaged 42HR / 43DBL / 126RBI, slashing .328/.420/.617/1.037, with 370 TB, and 24 IBB's.
To put these numbers in perspective, since 2001, only 3 players have hit 40+HR's, and slashed Pujols Cardinal average. They were Cabrera in 2013, Harper in 2015, Yelich in 2019, not even Mike Trout has attained Pujols prime average numbers, for a single season season. The three outlined seasons were all time great offensive seasons, but only Cabrera's 2013 season reaches the 40+ doubles criteria (Bryce had 38).
Here are how many individual seasons reached his averages (excluding his own), since 2001.
42 HR's: 68 seasons (3.6 players per year)
.328 AVG: 70 seasons (3.7)
.420 OBP: 52 seasons (2.7)
.617 SLG: 31 seasons (1.6)
1.037 OPS: 29 seasons (1.5)
354 TB: 35 seasons (1.8) (not per 162 due to a few games having a major effect)
25 IBB: 19 seasons (1) (57 since 1960)
Since 2001, there have been 7 seasons where a player has had a 1.100+ OPS. Albert owns 4 of them. (Others: Jim Thome 2002, Harper 2015, Yelich 2019).
Advanced:
Averaged 7.9WAR / 166.8WRC+ / 170OPS+ in a Cardinals uniform.
166.8 wRC+: 42 seasons (2.2 per year)
7.9 WAR: 43 seasons (2.3) (7 are Trout)
170 OPS+: 30 seasons (1.6) (only 100 Seasons since 1960)
86.6 WAR: 46th ALL-TIME, in just 11 seasons.
MVP's:
Purely on voting, Pujols would have FIVE MVP's if Barry Bonds didn't exist (six if you exclude Luis Gonzalez's highly questionable 2001 season). Thats 5 MVP's in 11 seasons, while finishing second 3 other times. In other words, Pujols was just a slow version of Mike Trout, who made better contact.
I know everyone is going to say "Mike Trout is better". Yes, Trout is on track to be the GOAT, but Pujols really wasn't that that far off through their first 8 seasons.
TLDR: Albert Pujols was on track to easily become a top 5 baseball player in the modern era,
... keep reading on reddit β‘Unsure if this is the right subreddit, but do most langauges differentiate cardinal numbers and ordinal ones? are there languages that dont differentiate, or that one is the stem of another without exception?
Hi all - during the pandemic, I somehow got really into collecting jerseys. Over the last year, I've also learned the hard way about buying 'deals' that turned out to be fakes (three to be exact - Molina, Goldschmidt, and more recently a Brett Hull). In any case, I'm still learning and trying to build a collection of players and styles from my hometown teams.
Which brings me to some jerseys that I got 10-15 years ago (see link at the bottom). I believe these are replicas, but I was wondering if Majestic ever made, specific to the Cardinals, authentics at the time? I imagine that there were, but I can't find an example of one - more curious if anyone has one.
I like the material of these jerseys more so than the newer variety, but I'm wishing they included the front numbers. Even further, I wish that they used the two-tone numbers on the back - the all-red names/numbers just don't look right.
