A list of puns related to "Bathtub Gin"
Does anyone know what inspired Bathtub Gin's lyrics or have any information about the song's origin? Thanks!
Not sure if any other Phish fans lurk here but these two songs play like cousin tunes to me. Rhapsody In Blue-esque piano intro, off kilter rhythm, and an odd food/beverage theme.
Heyo! Anyone here tried βmakingβ there own gin by just steeping botanicals in vodka?
I really want to try it out so Iβll take all the suggestion I can get! I think I want to eventually make a pretty floral-forward batch, so specifics with that would be awesome.
I know he's playing a little interpolation/snippet of another song, I want to say it's an old Lawrence Welk song, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know offhand?
Edit: For a split second I thought I remembered, but it's not "Baby Elephant Walk."
Episode I - Wendyβs on the window sill - Red Rocks 7/31/09 Tickets were impossible to get for the big return to Red Rocks weekend. So a buddy and I decided to sneak in by climbing up the back of the amphitheater. I had done this move before in high school for a Samples concert. But that was before they built the restaurant and museum back there. So this time I had to climb up this massive pipe and crouch behind a wall waiting to make my move. I popped my head over the wall and immediately made eye contact with an usher. I then hid again behind the wall hoping he would go a way. (Me being perched on top of a pipe I had no where to go). He did but came back with two cops who hauled me over the wall and searched me. They took my dug out (weed was not legal in CO yet). They were kind enough just to take me out the door. I heard one song inside the venue so Iβm counting this towards my show total. (49 - next one is the big 50th!)
Episode II - He carries a martini - Dicks Sporting Goods Park 9/3/17 A friend met us in the parking lot for some usual pregame. Dude was was legit in perfect shape chatting it up right until just before the show when he put his head in his hands. Iβm thinking must be a power nap, smart move. Lights go out, crowd stands up and brochacho is still head down. I leave him be for a couple songs then sit next to him to check in. He is barely responsive like not good. I say letβs go for a walk, if you canβt come with me for a walk I gotta go get a medic. He told me not to get a medic but he couldnβt get up and was very out of it. I went got a medic. The team came down and walked him to the room the use for this kind of thing. I followed. There were like 30 pros in there focused on him. The head guy took his vitals and started asking him questions. He was still in a fog but he knew who the president was. The medic asked me if I had been drinking, I said no. (He didnβt ask about shrooms). He said his vitals are fine but he canβt let him stay and asked if I could take him home. I said I could. They put him in a wheelchair and wheeled him outside during the tipsy sing along part of Bathtub Gin (last song of first set). I got the keys for my friendβs car and pulled it around. (Quick convo with the guy at the gate to let me back in). The medic helps my friend in the car and says to me that it might be a good idea to delete that bag of empty beers hanging from the spare tire on the tailgate before I hit the road. I do just that and thank him. We dri
... keep reading on reddit β‘I know Trey always sings along with the lead melody during the chorus, but I know there's at least a version or two out there where he sings the same notes as the solo he is improvving.
Does anyone know any versions where he is singing and playing the same solo for an extended period of time?
I'm sure he does this in other songs too from time to time, so any examples of this are welcome.
Thanks!
My mum's 50th is coming up and I'm trying to decide which gin to get her. Pretty much narrowed it down to the three above. Was also considering Gin Mare but then I remembered she doesn't like olives π
Please help me out guys!
Anybody up to the task of drawing a sleeve based on the story/characters of Phishβs Bathtub Gin?
I know it get's spoken of on and off and I've heard both sides of the story for this one. I've seen people post about it that have been there and also people that haven't and I'm including myself on the "haven't list" but have listened a thousand times over because of how special it is. I think it's finally time to put this one on a serious discussion (do mind me and help me out if its been a topic of discussion before, for I have no idea) I'm passionate and want the world to understand that this is not an ordinary Phish jam... In my opinion, they reached some kind of higher existence, if only for a few minutes, in this specific jam... I have yet to hear a jam of theirs come close to the honesty of higher unified human consciousness, then in this jam... and I know that is saying a lot, BUT hearing the ENTIRE crowd erupt in a euphoric roar at the peak of this jam, solidifies my belief in what I mean. It was something special from the moment they started playing Bath Tub Gin, until the very end... at The Great Went. Every member was ON.
