I received the email included in the blog post last night. I have characterized this as SAM having been "hacked," but I have no proof that the data breach occurred due to hacking and I am only speculating. SAM is a massive government database that government contractors must register in to do business with the government.
Police are just as susceptible, if not more, to mob mentality as crowds, especially when they canβt be individually identified. Full anonymity emboldens them to act illegally. Riot police should have to be identifiable by a badge number or some other kind of identification number that allows them to be easily identified on camera if they commit a crime while on duty. Using a number would allow them to maintain anonymity provided they are acting legally and not violating any rights and protect them and their families from retaliation for simply doing their job, but would also allow for easy prosecution/lawsuits if they are recorded overstepping their authority or violating the rights of citizens.
