A list of puns related to "Backyard Cricket"
So apparently 'official' rules is that you can't get out first ball. This news to anyone else?
Bit salty from the stuff quiz.
Looking for some backyard cricket tips to put me ahead of the curb. Any advice is appreciated, cheers.
I'll start. Getting hit on the body twice in a row was out. Catching the ball using only one hand after one bounce was out. Hitting the wall behind the bowler gave you 4 or 6 if depending on it bounced before it hit it or not.
For example, in India, you will find children and boys playing with hard tennis ball. It's like tennis ball but bit heavy. Not regular tennis ball.
I know Pakistan folks play tape tennis mostly and Bangladesh guys play half tapped tennis. They apply certain type of white tape on regular tennis balls. It gives it good seam.
What about other/European countries?
Especially, in England, Australia, New Zealand etc.
Also, interested in knowing what kind of unknown rules you have?
For example, in India if some players breaks someone's window glass, that's out! If caught one bounce with one hand, that's out! Etc.
I'm fascinated by innings such as KP's Mumbai masterclass, Smith's priceless Pune innings, Rahanes raging comeback at Melbourne, and Sehwags sizzling ton at Galle. What aspect of test cricket fascinated you the most.
Can you go out first ball?
In the spirit of the season (well the season as it is in NZ/Australia at least), which players would you want at your Christmas/New Years do and play a game of backyard cricket with, and why? And which players would you not want to attend and why?
They can be some well known rules or rules you have made up yourself. Personally for me the biggest ones are automatic wicky, over the fence is six and out and can't go out first ball. One hand one bounce depends on the size of the yard for me. Might be a shitpost but after watching the t20 game between Australia and England, the itch for cricket is back at full force. Also am curious as in australia these are well known rules and would be interesting to hear if it is the same around the world and what differences there are and hopefully some new ones to implement.
If I attempt a catch with one hand, touch it, drop it, but gather it again one hand after the bounce, is it out?
So we had a pretty hectic Christmas cricket game with the uncles and their kids today. I unfortunately made a duck (2nd ball) and dropped 2 catches. But I did take 4 wickets for 40 which was a decent return from my 5 overs.
Hows your Christmas day cricket going?!
Sections are getting smaller and smaller in Auckland, which i suppose isn't all bad as it means more intensive housing can be built to support growth of population in Auckland. Do you think that backyard cricket and summer BBQs would be a thing of the past in Auckland?...or are there alternatives that can replace this pastime?
