It’s looking a little flat to me and I’d like to add a portico/dormers/shutters. I’d like to drive around to some pretty areas in the suburbs for inspiration. Any neighborhoods come to mind with colonial style houses? I’m in the northwest suburbs but I can travel to wherever.

Chesnut trees made up 25% of the forests in the Eastern US before chestnut blight killed almost all of them. They rained hundreds of thousands of pounds of food down every year. How big of an impact did this bounty have on the diets of Native Americans and colonials?

I'm under the impression that chestnuts weren't just a snack, but a staple for part of the year. When the chestnut trees died, did people starve? How integral were these trees in the economy/diet? Was it a big deal when they vanished?

I am mostly of colonial Anglo American Heritage but i have many distant cousins who are fully hispanic, as we share anywhere from 14-15cm on myheritage and 7 - 8 cm on ancestry, do you think such relations are possible? what are your thoughts?

they are from latin america, mostly the carribeans, puerto rico, mexico and some being from cuba and the dominican republic, venezula, as i found some that were from such places on gedmatch, but one is also from spain, who shares the same exact small dna segment (8-9cm) with our distant cousin who is fully pueto rican, do you think we could share a spanish or hispanic ancestor? is this even accurate? they seem too be on the same dna segments as my fathers sicilian side, but none of them share any of my italian/siclian cousins nor the ones who have half of those dna segments where the hispanic cuzzos are as well. its very interesting. most of my ancestors have been in the united states from the 1600s too the 1700s around most of the area that was the british colonies, about 60% of my ancestors on both my parents sides, but my mother does not match with these people.

My family are colonial Americans. These are the values Hillary was likely raised with.

Story time: I grew up in a circle of families that have been in the US since the colonial era, like Hillary's family has. Those families typically socialize with one another and follow a fairly specific set of values and principles, so I would guess that she was also raised in a similar way. (Disclaimer: this was in the Mid-Atlantic not Boston so there might be a few differences but the general principles are still similar.)

These were the values that my parents and their friends instilled in their kids:

  • No conspicuous consumption. My parents drive simple cars, wear simple clothes, and avoid spending money on flashy material things. My mother almost never wears designer clothing as Hillary so frequently does, and when she does she chooses very understated styles. As kids we were absolutely forbidden from wearing any clothing with brand logos or labels, and many of the clothes we wore were thrifted.
  • Avoiding luxury for luxury's sake. When we went on vacation, we avoided fancy hotels and stayed in bed-and-breakfasts or youth hostels. My dad in particular would much rather hang out at the local sandwich shop than go to a trendy upscale restaurant. And even if we did indulge in a luxurious experience every once in a while, we kept it to ourselves and didn't discuss it publicly.
  • Investing in cultural development. Starting when we were 4/5 years old, we were enrolled in a large number of classes -- violin, piano, dance, equitation, skiing, drawing. We and many of our friends were raised to be bilingual in French: our parents invested heavily in building up a library of books in French for us to read, in native-speaker tutors, and in long stays in France so we could learn by immersion.
  • Paying it forward. We were required to do regular hands-on volunteer work in our community -- at minimum a full weekend each month. This involved getting dirty (e.g. cleaning streams, picking up litter), or working directly with people in need -- not just going to galas like Hillary and Alec do. We learned to love volunteering and it was a great way to bond with our friends.
  • Showing respect. Nannies were valued, acknowledged, and treated with gratitude -- never hidden away as though they didn't exist.

My point is that Hillary, thanks to her own privileged upbringing, should have a pretty clear idea of how to use her+Alec's significant resources to raise educated, well-rounded, empathetic, service-oriented kids. Instead, she invests everything in
