When New World first launched, it peaked at 913k players. However, the daily peak players has almost dropped almost every single week since the game launched and content updates have done little to prevent the bleed out of players. Yesterday, the daily peak players was just 98k, representing a drop from its peak player count that is slightly 89%. (Source: https://steamdb.info/app/1063730/graphs/)
Now, if these 98k peak payers (or even 48k during off peak hours) were all concentrated in a few servers, this would not be an issue, you would still find people to play with. Except, new world had hundreds of servers at launch with 2k concurrent player caps, with AGS telling players to pick medium/low pop servers to avoid queues. Well, here is an example of a server that was previously "medium" pop: https://newworldstatus.com/worlds/lintukoto. As you can see, during off peak hours you frequently see <100 players (meanly you will barely find anyone in this MMO) and even during peak hours there are barely more than 300 players max.
Yes, I understand he's in a difficult, almost impossible position. He's dreamed about getting his works adapted for years at this point. He will only guarantee those never happen if he speaks out but...
When his works do get adapted, they won't be any better. I love the Cosmere too, and it hurts to say this, but it's true. This is bigger than the Wheel Of Time. All of these clowns always want to co-opt things rather than accurately portray them.
So, I dread to see the Stormlight Archive ever adapted. That doesn't mean all hope is lost, however.
Just look at Arcane. Yes, easily the best Fantasy series since Game Of Thrones. Part of that is because they're not adapting, so much as taking inspiration from barebones lore, yes.
But, a much bigger reason is that Riot fucking ran away from Hollywood and all the clowns working there. They found a competent animation studio and ended up making something breathtaking.
This is the future Sanderson should be looking for. Frankly, this is the future all fantasy adaptations should be looking for.
Hollywood cannot be trusted.

Seeing as how the characters don't match their book sexual identities or races, and neither do the actresses / actors and their tv character's, just going to leave this here.
