... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi everyone! I have couple questions I would really appreciate it if you take some time answering them. 1. What can I do with my civil Engineering degree as an officer in Air Force? 2. I honestly donβt have any work experience other than Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash. Iβm so nervous about going through and possibly failing the Selection Board because Iβm already 30 years old and I wanna start a career already. My second question is will my officer application be reviewed by the Selection Board or the Air Force Recruiting Service?
I am a first-year college student and Iβve been looking at enlisting in the Air Force after college or commissioning if possible. Yesterday I got an email from a Marine Officer Selection Officer about me being a potential candidate for a summer Marine Officer Leadership Training, and after filling out an eligibility form which I thought might disqualify me I got a text today saying I seem eligible. It is still super early in the process and nothing is for certain but I am looking forward to being able to do the program. The Officer who sent me the email said we can now figure out a time to discuss further, and see if this is a good option for me. Iβve been considering the military for a while but never really the Marines although Iβm open to it. My question is: based on what Iβve described would this be a good option for me. Also any advice on next steps would be incredibly helpful.
As the title says, I am currently in the Army as an E5. Tired of being screwed over by super poor leadership and the Army lifestyle. I have always wanted to go officer and I'd like to do it now.
I already have a degree in Economics and Political Science. Serving on a Title 10 Army Deployment currently and once I'm done with this deployment, I have four months left on my contract. I'd be looking into OTS in April of 2024, when my contract ends.
Any advice for someone considering OTS and going Active Duty Officer in the Air Force that's prior service?
Currently I'm working on enlisting in the Army National Guard. I just noticed the Army and ARNG have a cutoff for OCS at a younger age, 32. I'm already in my 30s and eventually would want to try to be an officer.
If I joined now I would be too old during my enlistment to apply.
I don't have a 4-year degree and almost have a 2-year. So I would need to take care of all that first.
I noticed the Navy and Air Force have an older age limit for becoming an officer. So would it be better to look at enlisting in the Navy/Navy Reserve or Air Force/Air Force Reserve or Air National Guard?
What would people advise?
UPDATE - Army does have Warrant Officers. So that's a possibility. Age cutoff is 46 according to GoArmy.
Good Morning,
I EAS (End of Active Service) at the end of March and am trying to get my application submitted for the March application deadline. My End of Active Service is 10 days after the deadline and I was informed by a recruiter that because of this, I would need a local commanderβs waiver. Iβll have my DD214 in hand well before my EAS date. I have no idea who would be considered the local commander or how I would go about getting the waiver. Has anyone ever done this?
Has anyone paid the $89 for jobtestpreps AFOQT Test Preparation? Itβs got a load of practice tests and 6 five star reviews.
Have an Associate Degree. I'm aware becoming an Officer while enlisted is much more difficult than just applying after college. In which branch is easier to become an Officer while enlisted? Army or Air Force?. Does it really matter?
I didn't do ROCT because I wasn't planning to join the military when I got my AD. I'm not planning to finish my degree first. Want to join as a 4T0X1/68k
I have a 13-year-old nephew with a bad case of hero worship who wants to be like his ex-enlisted electronic engineer uncle.
Except being enlisted isn't enough. He wants to be a pilot too!
He loves fast cars, engines, and anything electromechanical that goes fast.
He's currently in JROTC, and making good grades.
Here's the question, what should he be planning to go officer? Academy or college? Does he need any recommendations? What should he consider as his strategy?
I am graduating in about a year and a half with a BA in Criminology and Political Science. I for sure want to do masters in Crime Scene Investigation or even JD cybersecuirty law. (Both are offered at George Washington University). Its gonna be a lot of money so I know for sure the military can support me with tuition. Ive been thinking of joining the military for a couple years. Ive been interested since High School, but decided to hold off and go to college.
I know the army has CID and the air force has their version of it that requires you to be air force already in order to be eligible. I am also interested in the cybersecuirty which I know can help me outside in federal agencies. How will being an officer benefit on either branches? If I only want experience is enlisted the best route?I know there is a lot of career choices with enough experience
Only reason why I would join is for the experience of being in the military. I really have no need to join whatsoever too. Its not a necessity like other people need it and no member of a family has experienced. What would you guys say I could do? Should I even join the military?
Throwaway account. Looking for some opinions from the masses about whether I should retake the GMAT. Iβm pretty worried about compensating for my low undergrad gpa. Not sure how much my masterβs degree helps. Really appreciate any insight yβall provide
School: -BS in Mechanical Engineering from mediocre state school (2.9 GPA) -MS in Engineering from a different mediocre state school (3.9 GPA)
GMAT: 730 (49Q, 41V)
WE: 8 years as an Air Force aviator. Time spent between operations and project management.
EC: could definitely do better here. Currently volunteer at a local animal sanctuary and animal shelter
Why MBA? Looking to switch into management in the clean energy / sustainability sector. My pipe dream is to help transition the DoD into clean energy.
Targets: Chicago Booth, Duke, Berkeley, Columbia (Harvard/Wharton? Not sure)
White male
Edit: applying in Round 2 of current cycle
I'm in there process of talking with a air force recruiter for officer slot as health services administrator. Degrees in architecture. Hoping to get waiver for being slightly over 8 years of active duty service. Question is if I'm not selected (which I hope to be selected) after the conditional release what happens? Will I be in the airforce then? Currently I'm a SSG in the Army. TIA
Let me explain the situation I'm in. My dad is a colonel in the army. He never pushes me to do anything. But when I got through ISSB (The test that determines whether I get in the armed forces or not) he was extremely happy. I got through ISSB for the air force. But my country doesn't have that great of an air force. Plus the chances of me actually being commissioned as a fighter pilot is very low. And I don't think there's another way to stay in the Air Force if you can't become a fighter pilot.
I have always wanted to be an infantry officer. Having seen my dad's career, army was something that really attracted me. But the only problem was, I didn't clear the written exam for army in this year's intake but cleared it for air force. That's why I gave the final selection tests (ISSB) for air force and later on got through. However I have cleared the written exams for the army for next year's intake. Now I feel that maybe it's better for me to opt for the army. There's a process through which I can change my service but it is extremely difficult and at many cases people have lost service opportunities in both forces for trying for this. I mean if that happens I could still appear ISSB a second time so my backup is clear. Don't know if I could do same result in issb again.
I'm in a very big dilemma regarding this. This shit keeps me up at night so it'd be great if y'all could help me out.
