A list of puns related to "Wendy Darling"
I know John and Wendy Darling are not limited edition Tsums, so will be available in future premium boxes. However, does anyone have an idea if they'll be included in the premium box rotation next month?
I've had terrible luck with their lucky time, only getting John on the 23rd box even though odds list Wendy at 9.94% and John at 13.25%. FYI, that's a 0.07% chance of happening.
I figure if they're still in the premium box next month, I can chance upon them while getting bad luck at the September tsums. π I got 2 Baseball Pooh and 1 Surfing Stitch before getting a single lucky tsum! If Wendy is not in the September boxes, then I'll grind some more this month as I don't want to leave a blank spot in my collection for too long.
I'm often impressed by the hive mind here, and constantly surprised by how academic a knowledge of fantasy some of this subs members have.
Has anybody read or seen mention of any essays dealing with female agency in the genre? And more specifically, the often overlooked hero's journey of one Wendy Darling?
Any help or discussion would be greatly appreciated!!
Honestly the only thing I like about Greg and Tamara is Gregβs backstory. Literally thatβs is it. God the code names of the secretly kept Captain Hook or Tameraβs βMagic is unholy thingβ, almost made me drop the show at the time. Thank god I didnβt because then I wouldnβt see something like Going Home, Witch hunt, or like Henryβs adoption flashback.
But honestly they could have done more with Cora and being separated in the Enchanted Forest. Also dropping the real world element mostly, βwho let Regina be mayor again, this isnβt how these things work at allβ kinda stuff didnβt help but their was a solid arc and Iβd say the second season main arc concluded pretty great with some wasted time like βtinyβ (Iβd take an episode of just Emma, rumple and Henry on a plane) but hit its stride with the millerβs daughter and Welcome to storybrooke. Besides that the only thing I cared for is the Baelfire and Darling flashbacks.
Long story short imagine if the plot continued forward at least with the darling brothers. Write them in as decent sorcerers with an immunity to rumple because Pan used the same spell rumple gave to snow and white so they couldnβt be killed in a specific land. Since they have the same blood line Iβd buy it since at least it was foreshadowed earlier in the season that this kind of spell exists and we wouldnβt be in a place with like Greg and Tamara on how Rumple could of easily saved everyone. Then they could establish a proper finale instead of fail safe that got introduced two episodes before and take the time to really set up season 3.
One of the few books that made me want to change my stances and biases about genres or sub-genres.
Bingo squares:
I have received this book (via wishing for it) in exchange of an honest review, thank you to NetGalley and Titan Books for the opportunity.

Synopsis:
A lush, feminist re-imagining on what happened to Wendy after Neverland, for fans of Circe and The Mere Wife.
For those that lived there, Neverland was a children's paradise. No rules, no adults, only endless adventure and enchanted forests - all led by the charismatic boy who would never grow old.
But Wendy Darling grew up. She left Neverland and became a woman, a mother, a patient, and a survivor. Because Neverland isn't as perfect as she remembers. There's darkness at the heart of the island, and now Peter Pan has returned to claim a new Wendy for his lost boys...

TL;DR: I was never ever interested in picking up a retelling, but, A. C. Wise may have convinced me to be a lot more open to try them out after reading this book.
My only connection to Peter Pan (like I hope many others) was through the films; I've seen the Disney film, I've seen Hook starring Robin Williams and the 2003 live action as well and while they each have some brief darkness to them, they easily pale in comparison to this book. I knew that it was a darker retelling before I started it, and while that only increased my interest in reading it, I didn't quite think of how dark it could be.
I didn't really expect that there will be a lot of fought battles before Neverland comes into focus again, and have those be very personal battles made the book feel like an incredible journey of growth I got to take with Wendy. Since it is told in alternating point of views while adding flashbacks when needed in Wendy's usually longer chapters, I got to see how much pain she had to endure because of that whimsical trip into Neverland. The synopsis describes her as a patient and a survivor among others, where the author doesn't pull any punches of showing how exactly did she end up with those symbolic battle scars.
There are hard to read scenes in this book, specifically those in the flashbacks and it's not only affecting Wendy per say. But since I do get to see them through her own eyes, my view is mainly of how she personally changes or ada

[ Overall Thoughts ]
This is the year of Peter Pan-inspired books, with Lost in the Never Woods by Aiden Thomas earlier this year, and both Wendy, Darling by A.C. Wise and Darling by K. Ancrum out this June. It's fascinating to me how different each of these works manages to be, and how much each one appeals to me. This particular book is not so much a retelling as a continuation; a what-came-next to the original. It is billed as dark and feminist, and I think it delivers fairly well on both.
We get the story in POVs from Wendy and her daughter, Jane, with both flashbacks and sections from earlier years of Wendy's life interspersed. The timeline is a bit chaotic throughout, though I felt it worked to build tension and keep me guessing as it doled out tidbits of past and present. But if you're a reader who likes linear stories, the storytelling style here may irk you.
Both Wendy and Jane are determined to solve their problems for themselves, and work actively to do so. I enjoyed their narratives, and felt their voices differed enough to make them unique. Their narrative voices do a lot of internal mulling over of their situations and often in the format of an almost stream-of-consciousness line of questions. This style overall worked well to communicate the Neverland brain fog that Jane is experiencing, but felt a little repetitive on occasion in both POVs.
Minor quibbles aside, the plot moves quickly, the characters are engaging, and the story is unique to other Peter Pan works I've encountered and I enjoyed it

These two paintings of Wendy Darling are among some of my favourites out of all my commissions. They were both made by RHADS (www.deviantart.com/RHADS) back in 2012.
I already have Peter Pan at level 3, Tink at level 4 and all the rest of the group is level 1. So Iβm just wondering if Wendyβs power is worth a precious emoji charge to get to level 2? Or is her skill level from 1 to 2 about the same?? Thanks for any input!
Kathryn Beaumont was born June 27, 1938.
Joe Biden was born November 20, 1942.
She provided the voices of both characters again in the 2000s for the Kingdom Hearts series as well.
