A list of puns related to "Waste container"
I initially decided to invest in some glass containers (Tupperware) as opposed to the usual plastic ones because I didn't want plastic-related stuff leaking into my food when I reheat it in the microwave (yes, even the "safe" ones you shouldn't be reheating food in[1]), but they've been so amazing beyond that.
I'm so prone to wasting food because I never get around to putting it in the fridge. Even when I do get it in the fridge I never bother to eat it up because it's all packed away and reheating involves creating more dishes (effort), or I just forget it exists.
HOWEVER, you can stick these glass ones (without the bamboo lid) in the oven and microwave directly, so when there are leftovers after making an oven dish I can just grab the lid and stick it straight into the fridge. When it's time to reheat it, straight back into the oven! Now I use them for serving sides on the table as well since then it's easy to put them away(:

Hello everyone!
I have this idea and i want to get your opinion on it.
I tought about using a steel waste container to sterilize substrate. I would use a external steamer and run the steam inside it. I would add a seal and insulate the container. Maybe even add a 15psi pressure valve and let the pressure build up to this point. Like this i could run the substrate and then roll the whole container into my lab.
The kind of container im thinking about:

Tell me what you think about it and if you think this could work. Peace
This is the best tl;dr I could make, original reduced by 52%. (I'm a bot)
> Following the seizure of 37 containers of German plastic waste from the COSCO ship COSCO PRIDE in Piraeus Greece late last year, 52 non-governmental organizations have sent a letter to the Chairman of COSCO Global to stop their exports of plastic waste, in particular to developing countries.
> The Greek authorities are now waiting for Germany and COSCO to act and order the repatriation of the waste back to the German exporters.
> Out of the containers holding German plastic waste, 16 have already been exported by COSCO to Vietnam last year.
> An additional 89 COSCO containers are believed to be detained in Turkey.
> "We are calling on COSCO to guarantee that all of the more than 100 German containers of plastic waste, still sitting in Greece and Turkey, be returned to Turkey and in no way be allowed to be exported to Vietnam or other third country destinations," said Jim Puckett, Executive Director of the Basel Action Network.
> The letter to COSCO sent by the 52 organizations is part of a larger Shipping Lines Campaign targeting the all of the major shipping lines including COSCO, Hyundai, Hapag-Lloyd, CMA-CMG, Maersk, Hamburg Sud, MSC, and Orient Shipping, and seeking commitments from each of them to cease exporting plastic wastes.

Okay so first of all, I'm not complaining. The checkout person was new, and did their best to make it work. Trying to zero waste these days is often just difficult for everyone, which sucks, but that's how it is.
Okay so I brought my own mason jar because I wanted to buy pine nuts in the bulk section. I recorded the weight myself ahead of time, and even brought an empty one for them to tare and subtract from the weight of the full jar. Of course, of all the things I was buying, it had to be pine nuts...which are like $21/lb at my Sprouts. Apparently even though she tried to subtract the weight of the jar, it must not have worked, because it charged for the weight of the mason jar (and those are like a pound a piece).
Weighed it after I got home because it didn't feel right, and confirmed that I burned $20 just to pay for my own mason jar's weight in pine nuts. Feels terrible and I'll think about it for weeks. At least I saved one plastic bag from the landfill...
Hopefully it's an amusing story and keep up the good work zero wasting people!! I love you all so much!
Just a general question, can I mix food waste (ie, what would be part of the 'feed the green bin' program) with my yard trimmings? It seems like the same truck picks it up (but maybe they treat it differently).
The feed the green bin program says I can put some yard trimming in with my food waste, but I am more curious can I put my food waste in with my large paper bags full of raked leaves. I don't have a green bin but want to throw my turkey bones and other allowed food scraps in to my yard waste bags if I can.

According to the Durham Region's website, one can use "clearly labelled, returnable open-top containers" for yard waste. However I've never seen anyone using such containers - everyone around me uses paper bags. No stores seem to sell reusable yard waste containers with holes drilled at the bottom (as suggested by the Durham Region's website).
Is there any reason why reusable containers are not popular? To me, they seem like a more eco-friendly option (and possibly more cost-effective in the long run).
If anyone here uses them, what are the pros and cons?
