A list of puns related to "State terrorism"
What's in the plan:
Dissent from Progressives, civil rights groups, civil liberties groups, and others arguing it's overkill and may backfire much like the tactics used against foreign terrorist have:
We have known Ethiopia has funded terrorists in foreign countries for a long time, though finally we have hard evidence to prove it. A year ago we had caught an Ethiopian agent red handed carrying a bomb in Cairo, we now have evidence that they were working for the Ethiopian government to attempt to spread fear in Cairo. Egypt's president el-Sisi makes a public speech denouncing Ethiopia for the violation of international law and calls for the AU to suspend Ethiopia from the AU.
Proposal to the AU:
Due to Ethiopia's sponsorship of terrorist agents, they will be suspended from the AU for a period of 6 months during which an AU mandated arms embargo will be in place.
Bonus question: while I'm mostly interested in the state/national political violence for this question, I also wouldn't mind a tangent into city-level political violence, especially in the "big city boss" era of American politics.
Also, if anyone has similar information about Canadian politics I'm up for that too.
This question was inspired by the history of political violence and working/middle class agitation in Ireland from the 19th century up to the Irish Civil War, so if anyone has commentary on if/how traditions of political violence crossed the Atlantic that would be appreciated too (I recently learned of the Orange Riots in New York in the 1870s, which was a surprise).
Thanks!
I know this might be a dumb question, but can state terrorism be considered a political theory?
I know many conservatives here want to completely abolish the welfare state in favour of private charity. However, poverty is the parent of revolution and crime. What if denying some people those benefits that makes it easier to survive radicalizes them into grotesque ideologies (e.g. fascism and socialism)? And there is an undeniable link between poverty and crime.
I do agree the welfare state suffers from numerous excesses that, in some ways, makes poverty worse. But even center-right countries in Asia (Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan specifically) have a minimal welfare state that supplements and encourages work. Singapore even has the Central Provident Fund, which includes Medisave accounts (similar to HSA's).
Also, can you name me a modern, industrialized society with both a decent standard of living and the poor, disabled, and elderly are successfully reliant on charity?
And if my understanding of history is correctโthat pissing off the poor radicalizes them and may even produce an illiberal revolutionโwouldn't some concessions to avoid a negative push in society be worthwhile?
I am not the biggest fan of FriendlyJordies (Jordan Shanks) and I donโt think really many in this sub would be either. However, I am been watching the lawsuit unfold out of curiosity and felt this new development needs further eyes globally on it.
For the uninformed, Shanks is a stand up comedian and YouTuber who has has a unique niche which I would sum up as a sort of mash up of Manufacturing Consent/Australian culture/political commentary/reacts style of content. In a video mocking the current New South Wales state deputy premier (sort of like a second in command of the state position), John filed to sue Shanks. I will spare you the little middle details of the story however, the point of this post is that, in the most recent development, John has abused the powers of the โCounter Terrorism & Special Tactics Command Fixated Persons Unitโ in order to obtain Kristo Langker (an employee of FriendlyJordies) from his home without a warrant and without evidence.
I hope more people (especially with platforms) can talk about this more and bring attention to it.
Ps. If you see this exact post also on r/BreadTube, I posted there first to reach as many people as possible but it has been stuck pending for 30 minutes now. So, I thought I'd post here and maybe even Vaush will see it.

Plan Cรณndor, also known as Operation Condor, was a campaign of political repression and state terrorism backed by the United States and enforced by ultra-nationalist. That included intelligence operations and assassinations of opponents.
It was officially and formally implemented in November 1975 by the leaders of the dictatorial regimes of the Southern Cone, yet it was successfully tested in brazil in 1964 beforehand.
The countries involved were Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, and sporadically, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela.
The United States government provided planning, coordination, torture training, technical support, and provided military assistance to military boards during the Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan administrations. This support for human rights violations was frequently channeled through the CIA.
Due to its clandestine nature, the precise number of deaths directly attributable to Operation Condor is highly disputed. Some estimates are that at least 60,000 deaths can be attributed to Condor, roughly 30,000 of these in Argentina, and the Archives of Terror list 50,000 killed, 30,000 disappeared and 400,000 imprisoned. American political scientist J. Patrice McSherry gives a figure of at least 402 killed in Condor operations which crossed national borders in a 2002 source and mention in a 2009 source that of those who "had gone into exile" and were "kidnapped, tortured and killed in allied countries or illegally transferred to their home countries to be executed... hundreds, or thousands, of such personsโthe number still has not been finally determined were abducted, tortured, and murdered in Condor operations. Victims included dissidents and leftists, union and peasant leaders, priests and nuns, students and teachers, intellectuals, and suspected guerrillas. Although it was described by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as "a cooperative effort by the intelligence/security services of several South American countries to combat terrorism and subversion". Guerrillas were used as an excuse, as they were never substantial enough to control territory, gain material support from any foreign power, or otherwise threaten national security. Condor's key members were the governments in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Brazil. Ecuador and Peru later joined the o
