The one thing I was hoping for in Endgame (spoiler of omission)

Not gonna lie, the MCU character death that bothers me the most is J.A.R.V.I.S.

Gone too soon.

I just loved the character. While I like Paul Bettany as Vision, I loved the way that Tony and J.A.R.V.I.S. worked so well together, especially in the moments where it feels like J.A.R.V.I.S. was just a step ahead of Tony and was ready for him.

Knowing beforehand that Endgame would involve time travel, I was really hoping for Iron Man’s HUD to glitch once he went back to the Invasion of New York and to hear the familiar sound of Paul Bettany’s

β€œGood morning, sir”

AFRICA - TOTO (with omission of 5th-glyphs)

To you and I, courtship is not unknown.
You know all customs and so do I.
Committing fully is what I'm thinking of.
Only from yours truly can you obtain this.
I just want you to know what's on my mind,
You must fully grasp.

I will not discard you,
I will not disappoint you,
I will not run around and abandon you.
I will not bring about your crying,
I will not part with you,
I will not distort information and hurt you.

Our first introduction was long ago
Your soul is aching but your timidity masks this.
In our minds both of us know what's going on.
Both of us will go along with this known activity.
And if you ask what is on my mind,
Don't say you lack vision to distinguish,

I will not discard you,
I will not disappoint you,
I will not run around and abandon you.
I will not bring about your crying,
I will not part with you,
I will not distort information and hurt you.

Just finished Season 4 and was surprised by a couple of omissions from the books that would have been incredible visuals on-screen

For the most part, I think the show does a great job of streamlining the books, not only for a television audience but also just tightening up some of the narrative. I love the books and plan to read all of them, but I do sometimes find they feel a bit flabby.

Anyway, I just finished Season 4 and while I think they did an outstanding job portraying the story and characters, I was surprised by a couple of things they left out, mostly because they would have just looked incredible on the screen.

Three things that surprised me:

  1. >!Not making a bigger deal about the railgun.!< In the books there's a really cool sequence where they are trying to figure out how to >!draw power from the railgun's batteries to the thrusters, when Naomi realises the most efficient thing to do is just use it as a thruster.!< That was cool. Also though, in the book they >!fire it several times to "stay afloat"!< while in the show they >!only fire it once!<. I thought that was kind of a missed opportunity because it would look so awesome. NBD though.
  2. >!The rescue bubbles. !<In the books, the >!railgun plan goes awry and they have to rescue the occupants of the Barb. The solution they strike upon is by sealing two emergency airlock blisters together to form a bubble, and having the survivors floating in them. The book has a great description of the cargo bay opening and all the bubbles floating out like seed pods, and the light catching them from behind and showing the silhouettes of all the survivors floating inside them. !<For this visual alone I thought for sure it would be included in the show.
  3. >!The Barb burning up.!< In the books, after the plan goes awry, there is a description of the >!Barbapiccola skimming the atmosphere, beginning to tumble, and eventually burning up.!< It sounded so cool that I thought it would be a great spectacle in the show.

That's it. I would have loved Alex to blow that one guy >!away with the railgun!< but it's all good.

Keep in mind these are just observations - I still loved the show and think they're doing a great job. Can't wait until Season 5.

Joe Schmoe Perspective on Prospective State Bone (Biological Evidence) Omissions and Fraud in the Handling of Avery's Conviction and Appeals

Lots of discussion about the bones and whether the state violated Avery’s rights under due process and/or the state’s obligations to retain evidence collected as part of his murder conviction! I’d like to discuss the circumstances from a layman’s perspective – that is, from the perspective of an average Joe Schmoe, like me. After all, the matters before the court must protect not only the lawful interests of Avery and Teresa Halbach but also the public – the People, also a named victim in this case.

Everything decided in this case will ultimately affect residents/citizens of Wisconsin, and possibly citizens of other states, depending on how far up the appeals in this case are heard. The decisions of the courts, and prospectively a new jury, will have a significant impact upon the People. I, personally, am NOT in favor of condoning/overlooking any circumstance through which the conduct of judges, assistant attorney generals and law enforcement threaten constitutionally protected rights of the People. Avery, no matter how guilty, is not worthy of that kind of forfeiture. Teresa Halbach, no matter how incredibly horrific her murder was, is also not worth the forfeiture of constitutionally protected rights and obligations the states have to protect the People, including those accused of crimes.

So, in my layman’s perspective, specifically related to the withholding of material facts surrounding Teresa Halbach’s cremains, it appears an outrageous fraud may have been committed upon the People.

It seems to go like this:

I. Following Avery’s conviction, but before the end of his appeal, on September 20, 2011, Wiegert, Fallon, Gahn and Hawkins pulled out Dr. Eisenberg's report, the ledgers and the evidence marked "only human" and "human.” They then returned that evidence to Teresa Halbach’s funeral home/family for burial. They noted each item returned with β€œonly human” and β€œhuman” handwritten notes. Then Hawkins wrote a report documenting this event.

β€’ Interestingly, I have a copy of FBI communication (related to another November 2005 murder in Wisconsin) through which the FBI advised Wisconsin law enforcement that biological evidence, specifically the burned bones, could not be destroyed until the defendant was released from prison.

β€’ The related 9-20-2011 CASO report was never shared with the defense counsel, nor was the defense counsel notified of the state’s intent to destroy evidence used in Avery’s conviction.

β€’ The evidence was always excu

Behold! The most comprehensive list of Movie omissions

Credit to KeithS from StackExchange

Overall: Probably the largest single overt omission from the entire movie series was the character of Peeves the Poltergeist. He plays a relatively minor role in most of the books, but the comic relief would have been good in areas, and his role became more important in book 5 and book 7 as he actively fought against the bad guys.

The movies in general leave out a LOT of Quidditch matches from the books.

The existence of Squibs (non-magic children of wizarding parents; the reverse of a Muggle-born) is never explicitly stated, though the characters of Filch and Mrs Figg (both Squibs) are present.

Book 1: The Sorcerer’s Stone movie is probably the closest overall to the book, as the book is the shortest.

They miss an entire game of Quidditch against Hufflepuff; it’s notable because Snape referees the game, piling suspicion on him, and thus Harry’s under pressure to end the game quickly. He catches the Snitch in less than five minutes, which has to be some kind of record. The film simplified how Harry and Hermione get caught out of bed at night, meaning Neville isn’t out with them in the Forbidden Forest (simplifying that scene). The characters of Bane and Magorian are omitted. In the book, a couple of conversations introduce the centaurs as star-gazers and a very proud race. Malfoy doesn’t challenge Harry to a duel in the movie; this simplifies their discovery of what’s behind the door on the third floor. They skip two of the puzzles in the dungeons (one of which takes about a paragraph in the books; another troll, which is sound asleep when they get there), and simplify how they deal with Fluffy (there’s a harp that’s already playing magically). In the book, the final fight in the mirror chamber ends with Harry blacking out from the pain in his scar, locked in a death grip with Quirrell just as Dumbledore comes upon the scene. We’re told that Quirrell died as part of the exposition in the infirmary, as well as a few other things, including some tantalizing missing information about why Voldemort would want to kill Harry in the first place.

Book 2: The second movie was shot pretty faithfully. A few things are simplified and a couple things are switched around, but I can’t remember much that was overtly omitted other than:

The side trip to Filch’s office early in the book, in wh

(Spoilers Extended) Do you think the omission of the valonqar prophecy from the show means something?

This is something that has been on my mind for a while and I'd like to hear other's thoughts. They obviously cut and changed a large portion of Jaime's story for the show, while Cersei's, and Tyrion's to some extent, have followed the books much more closely. But they cut the valonqar prophecy (and left the other parts of the prophecy in), which is pretty integral to the dynamic between the three Lannister siblings.

So does this mean something? Is the valonqar prophecy ultimately so meaningless in the books that it wasn't in the show? Or is it going to end up being very important in the books and couldn't be properly explained in the show's shortened time frame (not that they cared about properly explaining everything else)?

I lean more toward it being important because, again, it so heavily influences Cersei's choices. You could argue that almost everything she's done has been about preventing that prophecy from coming true.

Prior to season 8 I would have said that it was omitted because GRRM wanted to have it be one "oh shit" moment that wasn't in the show first. However, Jon killing Dany was an "oh shit" moment (or it was supposed to be had it been properly executed) that is just as big, if not bigger, than someone strangling Cersei. So it doesn't really make sense that Jon killing Dany would be included but Jaime (or Tyrion or whoever) killing Cersei wouldn't be.

EDIT: grammar mistake

Of all the major third parties without a fighter, I'd say Ubisoft feels like the most glaring omission

I'm not saying this as someone dying for Rayman to be a fighter or anything like that. I just mean that given how close Nintendo and Ubisoft have been in the recent past specifically with a crossover game featuring Mario and the Rabbids. But even beyond that, Ubisoft was probably the biggest third party dev that had faith in the Wii U when Nintendo first launched the hardware, and Rayman's trophy inside Sm4sh was definitely worth note considering as far as I recall no other third parties without a fighter had a trophy in Sm4sh. On top of all of that, Ubisoft simply has the kinds of fighters that would fit in so well in a game like Smash.

All the same, its easy to find great fits from other third parties not yet with a fighter, Activision has Crash or Spyro (my money would be on Crash if we get one of them), Bethesda (Id) has Doom Slayer which would feel oddly fitting, and Koei Tecmo has Ryu Hayabusa. But my point isn't about who fits best, but rather who has the kind of relationship with Nintendo that most feels like they should have a fighter before anyone else. I'd argue that Ubisoft probably is in that spot. Though, on the same thought process, I can't forget the Hyrule or Fire Emblem Warriors games. Koei Tecmo definitely has a close relationship with Nintendo as well in this regard.
