Reefer Container Shipping

Hi All!

I'm a bit newer to the world of international shipping and had a question regarding reefer containers, google hasn't been too much help for me with this one. Do regular vessels ever have the equipment to carry reefer containers or are they typically always separate? I know there are reefer ships that are dedicated to carry these containers but do the regular ships in general ever have the power supply to ship reefers as well?

I know it would depend on the vessel line most likely but I'm just curious in general if the average ship is ever outfitted to load cold boys.

Thanks in advance! :)

Where are the worthy problems?

One thing about SaaS, that I find difficult is finding a damn problem that is worth solving. You have to make sure that the problem you are worth solving your target customer actually care about it.

As every article states look at your life, and things you would improve BUT this does not always work due to :

  1. Lack of life experience (what if all I know is my current job, and dont have any experience any where else)

  2. The hurt you experience is not worthy of making a product ( you dont like current way, but you dont care about it)

So at this point I feel stuck. I tried finding industry specific problems but it seems that you need to be in it to get a real understanding of real pains. There is only so much you can do online except speculate.

Some solution I am currently trying are (also to remove your limit on imagination):

  1. Better, Cheaper and Faster ( and by a scale of 10x)

- your solution should be one or combination of these compared to competitors, i.e) Make Tesla Competitor called "Edison" that has a longer range and cheaper price, that charges in 10 minutes. This would be better, cheaper and faster.

  1. Job Theory

- Think of the "Job" that is being hired by the customer for the product. For example, trojan condoms are so you do get someone pregnant or have a STD. Therefore, you can think of different ways of solving this problem.

These are my current solution after a couple of horrendous ideas, so I am currently testing to see if they work.

If you have any better ways of finding problems or framework to follow please let me know :)

Also remember the world is not nearly perfect, therefore there are always problems that need solving ( At least I hope so LOL)

The Building of Neon (Starfield Speculative Lore)

NOTE: This is a speculation / thought exercise based on what little information we have from official sources. Do not take anything here as true lore! I wrote this drawing from the concept arts and Emil's Neon video. I had to make up some stuff like names completely from my imagination. Feel free to use whatever turns out not to be true for inspiration for future mod ideas though.))

THE BUILDING OF NEON

The Pleasure City Neon, 2330 CE

Pre Neon

The aquatic planet that the pleasure city of Neon would be eventually built on was described by the initial scout team as β€œnondescript”, meaning the planet lacked any interesting or distinguishing features. A water world that lacks any land masses, even islands, was considered interesting by only scientists wanting to study its hydrology and aquatic life, but not for future colonists.

So as other, more viable worlds like the one Akika City was founded on are surveyed and settled, the scientific work on the aquatic world continued and the findings were published. One of these discoveries, that the water world’s ocean is not only teaming with macro organic life, but most of which is edible by humans, and this catches the interest of the Xenofresh corporation.

Xenofresh, as indicated by its name, is a company that specializes in finding interesting extraterrestrial food sources to meet the demand of exotic foodstuffs for the wealthy and more cheaply produced, but still unique, foods for the masses. Upon evaluating the initial findings of the scientific teams, Xenofresh funds new science expeditions and surveys, to determine how valuable harvesting the ocean life would be.

A few years later the results are very promising. Not only is there abundance, but chefs sent on the expedition report being able to create new and unique flavor combinations. These reports are enough that Xenofresh makes a huge investment in a possibly risky endeavor. To harvest the water world's aquatic life and ship it across the stars in necessary quantities, the building of a city sized platform was necessary.

The Xenofresh platform (designated XFP-001 in internal company records) would not only build and maintain a fishing fleet and process the fish for transport, but also provide human resources for the fisher crews. Because FTL communications have yet to be developed, it was necessary to set up a com

Trucking Sucks

I just want to vent a bit here. I'm a relatively new truck driver, I've been on the road for about six months, two of which were spent with a horrendous trainer. I can complain all day about the various aspects of the job, but I don't want to sit here and type for hours, so I'll try and keep it short. Trucking sucks, and here's a few reasons why:

  1. training sucks

There are schools that charge you huge sums just to prepare you for the test that is required to get a CDL. These schools don't teach very much, which means students will enter the workforce quite unprepared. Some companies will offer to train you for "free", but they just pay upfront for the costs associated with getting the CDL and expect you to pay them back over the course of your tenure with them, which can suck when you're making training pay. If you fail or quit, they'll still expect you to reimburse them for those costs. Even worse than CDL school is going out on the road with a trainer for an extended period of time. Lots of trainers just don't give a shit about their students and use them as cheap labor so they can make extra money by taking team loads and keeping their truck running. My trainer was an impatient and controlling ass who micromanaged everything I did, belittled me at every opportunity, constantly drank alcohol on a weekly basis, and committed other questionable acts, such as using my HOS clock so he could keep driving after his time had expired and soliciting prostitutes, all while neglecting to teach me how to back a trailer or the finer points of what may be required of a solo driver.

  1. the pay sucks

While out with my trainer, I was getting 0.14 cents per mile, which is pennies. Basically, you won't get shit during the training phase, even if your truck manages to turn 3000 miles a week or more. The company I'm with pays trainees a flat rate of 900 a week, but after taxes and other expenses, it may amount to very little. This really burns my brisket because, as a solo driver who endured the hazing ritual that was "training", I've graduated to earning maybe 400 more than a trainee, and that's for someone who stays out for months on end, never going home, and never taking a weekly 34 hour reset break. I've heard it said that this job rewards those who perform efficiently, but I don't see how this can be the case when everything you do is controlled. It's simple math; I get paid 0.40 cpm, and my truck is governed at 62 mph if you use cruise control, and I roughly

Nationalized American Rail Network: Revised Lore

You may remember that three years ago, I made this headcanon regarding a nationalized American rail network under the Progressive Party. Since then, I've revised it greatly to make it a bit more realistic.

One thing that doesn't change is that the 2ACW is still averted (I'm mainly going off the Kaiserredux mod here) after George Norris won the 1936 election and righted the boat.

Anywho, let's begin:

Prelude

With Huey Long and Jack Reed satisfied by a relief bill and William H. Murray, leader of the Old Democratic Party, arrested, President Norris turned to other matters. Chief among them was reviewing the United States Army, namely the debate over doctrine; ultimately, Leslie McNair's reforms involving massed artillery strikes was chosen.

Among Norris' priorities, however, was completely restructuring American society. He termed his reforms "capitalism with socialist characteristics", a fancy way of saying "social democracy". His biggest achievement was abolishing the archaic Electoral College, with all future presidential elections decided by the popular vote. But what usually gets lost among his achievements is the reorganization of the entire government.

One of the lesser examples was renaming the various departments to "administrations". For example, the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) was renamed the "United States Justice Administration" (USJA), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) was renamed the "United States Agricultural Administration" (USAA, not to be confused with the United Services Automobile Association), and the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) was renamed the "United States Transit Administration" (USTA).

Formation of the United States Transit Administration

The formation of the USTA coincided with the nationalization of almost all forms of transportation in the United States. Each sub-administration was as follows:

  • United States Highway Administration (USHA), responsible for the highway system
  • United States Bus Administration (USBA), responsible for all bus services, both city and long-distance
  • United States Mass Transit Administration (USMTA), responsible for all streetcar and subway operations
  • United States Shipping Administration (USSA), responsible for all trucking and maritime trade, both ocean and river; this included nationalizing United States Lines and Matson, and all

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.

If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.

Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
