A list of puns related to "Oud"
Had a few request on doing another Oud Wood split, so I am running this again for anyone that missed out on my last split. Oud Wood is my absolute fav from the Tom Ford Private Blend collection.
It was Tom Ford who pioneered the oud note in contemporary Western perfumery way back in 2002 during his tenure as the artistic director of Yves Saint Laurent, with the groundbreaking M7. In 2007, he was still one of the few to showcase it in his own Private Blends. Today, not only has Oud Wood become one of the brand's classics, but it has spawned the brand-new βOud Collectionβ, built around the original's core accord of oud, sandalwood and patchouli.
Please comment in this thread if your interested in getting in on the split.
Prices include shipping + $10 [to Canada]
10ml = $33.00
25ml = $70.00
Please don't back out once you commit. Payment request will go out once the split goes full. Feel free to prepay for the split if you do not hang around much on reddit. Please provide a RELIABLE shipping address.

Depending on the fragrance, oud can be fecal/animalic... I haven't smelled many Oud fragrances, but read enough reviews to know that it can smell weird.
Something like Guerlain Santal Royal is not for me, the opening of that smells very dirty on my skin, and then it has the rose and I do not like rose. I don't like oud/rose combo. But I am not sure I know exactly what the Oud is.
TF Oud Wood (i know it doesnt have oud) has such a clean smell, its beyond clean, there's something unique about it. I saw a reviewer call this a sanitized oud. I love this. If it's not oud, then what is that wonderful smell?
Forgive me because I have no knowledge of oud, but I really just want to know how it can smell like a barnyard, or very sanitized and clean.
It's almost like they rebottled BR540 extrait. I don't see Al Haramain talked about as much in terms of clone houses. L'Aventure didn't smell as synthetic as CDNIM and was a worthy Aventus clone.
But this... This one takes the cake on clones for me. One spray on my hand yesterday and within seconds, antiseptic smell, burnt cotton candy, and ambroxan. Its so much ambroxan but not in a bad way. This is 95% the same. It is basically the same fragrance. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a blind test. I dare you to try !
It has the thing with BR540 that I think is what people dislike about it where you smell it up close and the antiseptic/bandaid smell is very prominent, from my limited knowledge I'm guessing that's the saffron and ambroxan but I really don't know. I love it because it's strangely alluring, many cannot stand it. But, your scent bubble is intoxicating and amazing. That juxtaposition is just so clutch.
But you can tell there's a lot of ambroxan and a lot of people hate it. Or they can't smell it so they think this is light. It's not light, at all.
My god does this project. Like I said, one spray. It smelled up my entire room and was still present after a shower. This might even be stronger than MFK. I will always love MFK for creating BR540 but I can't afford/justify the price. Took a chance with this one and I am blown away.
I gotta reiterate, this is STRONG. Put on a couple hours before you go out strong. Super strong with a lotta ambroxan.
Anyone have this one? Discontinued already after a year or two. Maybe it was too close and they got the ol cease and desist lol.... I got it for $50 at online discounters.

PS: I couldn't post this in r/fragrance since this question is specific to Abu Dhabi.
Every time I'm at a mall, or out and about, and a local man or woman passes by, its like im walking into the wake of a new world. (Kinda like that sprite advert which has a burst of freshness in your face). Im sorry but the European eau de toilettes and the eau de parfums and the body sprays and the mists or whatever, don't really have any affect, not even half the intensity of how any local smells like (I mean the perfume).
I'm convinced that you'll wear Oud in some form - perfumes, or attars or the incense (I'm not sure about this). What I really want to know is, where can I get this - whatever it is - the perfume or the attar, without spending too much (comparable to how much you'd spend on European perfumes).
It's a re-release. Changed the packaging (white box) and the bottle (frosted gray?) but it's the real deal. Not a big fan of the change to the box and bottle but it's one of my all time favorites and you can't beat the price.
This one was a great one for me to try today following my musings on oud from yesterday. I was wondering if I have a dumb nose that would just love any fragrance with oud in it. This answers that question for me. No.
There's a lot more going on with this though so I should break it down a bit. There is so much here for me to love. There is an incredibly strong and animalic oud note here that is deep and compelling. There is also tobacco, patchouli, incense, leather, ambergris, and sandlewood. All of that is great.
My problem here is the rose. I fucking hate the smell of roses and it seems like that is something I am not likely to get over soon. This is a problem for an oud lover because I am learning that rose is possibly the single most popular scent to pair with oud. Disgusting. I get that this is a "Me" problem and that Montale has done nothing wrong here. I'm sure there is a place on a leather couch for me somewhere to delve into whatever formative early experiences turned me so bitterly reactive towards the smell of roses but this is not the place for me to unpack such a Freudian grab bag of dysfunction.
If you like oud and rose then this very well may be your jam. Whomever is reading this most likely had a wonderful childhood full of happy rose memories of puppies running through gardens and parents celebrating anniversaries. Good on ya. I don't have the option to get away from me though, so I am going to take a shower now. Aloha.
Okay so I (38m) have atomic rose and I absolutely love it. I love the scent the projection and longevity. Itβs in my eyes a 10/10 rose crowd pleaser.
My next purchase will be oud for greatness or side effect
Which one do you prefer?
Has anyone tried the new formulation of Lancome Oud Bouquet?? I bought a decant recently (2016 formulation) and I'm in love with it. I'm planning to get a full bottle soon but I've read reviews from fragrantica that the new formulation isn't as potent and long lasting as before.
Just curious which situations you guys find yourselves using this fragrance.
I bought a 50ml bottle recently for a pretty good deal, and found that while I enjoy the scent, itβs very light, not long lasting, and I canβt seem to pick an occasion where Iβd choose it.
Do you usually layer it with something or wear it on its own? Formal occasions? Etc.
Like I said, I really enjoy it, I just find difficulty using it appropriately.
Cambodian oud is considered one of the finest and most luxurious types of oud at all, as it is prepared from the preparation of Cambodian incense, which is one of the best types of oud incense that has great popularity among oud lovers and lovers looking for the rarest and best scents at all and is brought from Cambodia and this type is characterized by its saturation with oud oil Covered by the very dark color, which means that it is one of the best types of oud, incense, and some have given it the title of the best oud incense, and it is among the series of the most expensive types of incense in the world because it is very rare and Cambodian oud has types of them (luxurious Cambodian oud, super triple, royal oud, luxurious oud) )
Looking to sell my 125ml bottle of Oud Ispahan. Only missing a couple sprays. $165 shipped.
I bought an expensive attar oil (Dehn Al Oud Seufi 12 ml ) from Ajmal a few days ago.
I applied it generously yesterday for a party. The scent didnt last more than 2-3 hours, and i feel like i got ripped off.
I have another day before I leave from my vacation. What should i do?
I've never tried pure Oud wood yet. Can you suggest a place where I could buy a small piece of high quality, just to try? It's so expensive!
Found a bottle of M7 Oud Absolu at a local grocery store of all places, can someone tell me if you think this is worth picking up?
Price is $79.99, it is the original bottle I believe with the black on it (itβs in box but it does say Oud Absolu on the box which I believe corresponded with this older bottle style).
I know this is discontinued, but is this something I would be foolish to pass up or rather just a rare find at a fair price? What scents would you compare it to?
I have read a lot of reviews in it and it sounds like something Iβd , but itβs not able to be sampled being the only one left. I donβt like having multiple scents that are very similar, but also I have that collecting bug and think itβs fun to find and obtain some rare bottles from time to time.
Some of the darker scents I own are: -CH men (original bottle) -CH men privee -La Nuit (original 09 batch) -La Nuit LβIntense
Thanks for any insight!
