Why does ortho have the "dumb jock" stereotype when it's one of the most competitive, if not the most competitive speciality?

Flaired as "shitpost" since it's not that serious, but really curious where this comes from?

I didn't realize how competitive ortho was until I saw their step 1 scores (pre-pass/fail) had to be near perfect πŸ’€

The β€œintelligent nerd” stereotype is ridiculous, many of those β€œdumb jocks” are probably just as smart if not smarter than you.

I always find it funny that society and popular media portrays the stereotypical duality between athletic, pretty, and popular people vs. the intelligent shy nerd. The stereotype is honestly so dumb, many of the smartest people I know were also the "popular cool kids" in high school. I honestly think that many of these social outcasts need to believe this in order to hold on to some sort of self-esteem. The thing is, if you're not athletic, good looking, talented, or sociable you need SOMETHING to hold on to in order to protect your ego. Something that says, ya well I might not have any of that but it doesn't matter because I AM SMARTER THAN THEM. Well the simple truth is many of those people you think are "stupid" are probably just as smart if not smarter than you.

GAME: Put SM artists in high school stereotypical cliques. Like frat boys, student council members, hipsters, jocks, normals, gamers, Discord mods etc.

I'll start. I swear Johnny is a frat boy. I can't imagine him somewhere else. Add Jaehyun to that too. Chanyeol probably as well. Giselle is your female frat girl along with Tiffany.

Baekhyun and Heechul are the gamers man, along with them being discord mods.

Student council members are 100% Suho, Onew and Siwon.

Jocks: this catagory was made for Lucas. Minho only bc this man thinks he is in the Olympics.

There are tons of stereotypical cliques, so let your creativity flow! I'm curious what you have in mindπŸ€—

Kids don't get bullied for being gay, they get bullied for not conforming to stereotypes... a gay jock won't be bullied anywhere near as much as a straight musical fanatic

Like you have this kid in high school who is super athletic, masculine, strong and popular... he also happens to be gay. But he's a manly dude. People look up to him. His appreciation of the male form suddenly matters a lot less. Now you have a boy who likes girls, he's straight but... his interests, his behavior, is very effeminate. He's a lot more likely to be bullied. Because sexuality isn't what you get bullied for... it's people's perception of your sexuality.

[TOMT] [ANIMATED MOVIE] [LATE 2000S] Stereotypical jock turns out to have a boyfriend

I'm trying to think of the cartoon movie where there's a nerdy teenage girl who has a crush on the jock and keeps flirting with him the whole movie, but then at the end, the jock goes "You have to meet my boyfriend! You're gonna love him." I thought it was Big Hero Six, but that doesn't seem to be it.

holy shit i understand the stereotypical jocks in hs movies

My class organized a party recently and because everyone knew and cared for each other doing stupid shit like dancing, drinking, talking in a circle or making out were, instead of vain, honest.

I felt like I regressed to monkey by spending an entire day doing those things, but maybe the monkeys and jocks really are right. Swinging from trees, eating fermented fruit and wilding out IS the human experience. ngl I really miss it already and I was considering staying home watching jojo

basically, try going to a party if you know it's gonna be around good people. Might just change your world view idk

Will LIB be able to recreate success of season one, or will subsequent contestants seek casting stereotypes: the diva, the jock, the player, the ditz, the beauty, the rebel, the trainwreck, etc.

I know it is reality TV, but this show came across as very genuine and organic. It seems from what I’ve read and snippets seen, the first season of these kind of shows are the best because the contestants don’t come in with an β€œagenda,” they are there for the experience and don’t really know what to expect.

What was the casting process for the first season? A few of them said they were asked to participate or were recommended by others. I wonder how many of them actually applied.

I love the authenticity of the couples, and of course Cameron and Lauren were amazing. I hope they are happily together when her breasts are down by her knees.

My cynicism makes me doubt subsequent seasons will be as authentic because contestants will know what to do to get more camera time and vie for the title of villain or heroine.

In all of the seasons of the Bachelor & Bachelorette how many couples got married and had families? I can only recall Trista Sutter. And with β€œSurvivor” the people on the first season are soooo different from other seasons. And the Australian version of Married at First Sight isn't about marriage, but a compelling shΒ‘t-show about how many fights can occur before the wedding.

Can’t wait for the reunion. I hope it is at least two hours long.

Why does the ESTP have a dumb jock stereotype attached to it

It literally has TI as a secondary function, so this misconception baffles me the most. Also, I listened to something that said every ESTP is obsessed with sports? Why is only the ESTP labeled with this because I have met basically every type that had an unhealthy obsession with sports. Last, I see that we have a violent stereotype associated with us?

The "Jock" stereotype.

Hi /r/mbti... Let's talk about this stereotype.

According to Myers-Briggs, ESTPs are hands-on learners who live in the moment, seeking the best in life, wanting to share it with their friends. The ESTP is open to situations, able to improvise to bring about desired results. They are active people who want to solve their problems rather than simply discuss them.

According to Keirsey, ESTPs, or "Promoter Artisans", are the most adept among the types at influencing other people. Promoting is the art of maneuvering others to one's position. Concrete in speech and utilitarian in action, they are smooth operators. The ESTP knows everyone who matters and everything there is to do because they are very resourceful, always knowing where the fun and action is. They like to indulge themselves in the finer things in life and to bring other people with them. Their goal in life is to sell themselves and their ideas to others. Dramatic and debonair, they are gifted at earning others' confidence.

I'm an ESTP. I don't do sports. don't get me wrong... I can do sports ... but I don't. Instead I do things like play guitar, study scientific theory, study psychology, and I am a drug addict (currently 6 months sober).

I've posted the above as guidance about ESTP characteristics for anyone who is interested in a better profile than "ESTP is sports".

Have a nice day.
