Went to the Erotic Museum in Las Vegas, NV and loved the art there. Lesbianism is notated in history all across the world, but especially prevalent in art, even when depictions of homosexuality were a deadly punishable offense.. we are the living breathing art

Can any insight be derived from the history of different mathematical techniques and their depiction in the Bible?

I'm learning about the history of some now-common mathematical techniques. My book (How to Invent Everything, pp. 25) has these invention dates:

  • Fractions, 1000 BC (note Egyptian fractions which I know nothing about)
  • Rational numbers (ex. 0.5), 1000 BC
  • Irrational numbers (pi), 800 BC

Are there any anachronisms related to these or other mathematical techniques in the Bible?

Depiction of rulers throughout history

Hi guys, does anybody here know about resources on images of rulers that they could point me to? I'm especially interested in information on the very first depictions of leaders (thinking Sumer) and Chinese emperors, but articles and books about any time and place are greatly appreciated!

I was thinking about an episode of the "History of the world in 100 objects" podcast by the British Museum. They were talking about King Den's sandal label, showing him engaging in a fight with an enemy. If I'm remembering correctly, this is the first depiction of a ruler we know of. Researching further I found out about other intriguing artifacts, like the Victory Stele of Naram-Sin.

Regarding the Chinese emperors, I read that they had their portraits painted since the Song dynasty, but I'm not too sure that source was accurate. The earliest depiction I found was this mural from the Han dynasty displaying a fight between Jing Ke and Qin Shi Huang. Then there are the paintings of Yan Liben from the Tang dynasty, like the Thirteen Emperors Scroll. During the Song dynasty emperors where mostly shown in a very simple fashion like here or here, while the paintings of Ming dynasty emperors often include heavily decorated thrones and ornamental clothes. If anybody knows what cultural changes lead to this shift, I'd be happy to hear about it.

Thank you for any input on this!

Why is the Chinese Lion Dance called a Lion Dance when the Lion is the most dragon-like thing in the history of dragon depictions? The scales, the eyes, the legs, the beards, the head. Lions don't even exist in China, but Dragons are a big part of Chinese mythology. Why is it called a lion?

I'm thinking it can't be a lost-in-translation deal, because there is also a Dragon dance, and the dragon dance does look like a dragon yes, but there are also depictions of chinese dragons with 4 legs, like what is figured in Lion dances. Literally everything about the Lion in lion dancing is dragon-like in its design.

Ethno-Linguistic/Religious map of the European continent dedicated to my Alternate History of Europe Mapping series that I have been making. Year of depiction: 1920

I have been planning to make a special ethnic map of Europe which would be dedicated to my alternate historical mapping series. I thought that it would be interesting to touch other interesting things, not always particularly the story itself, focusing on small details which would make the scenario look much more interesting. This project has been in plans for a year. Of course, there were long and short gaps before I would finally come to fulfilling this goal. This took me from three to four months to make, again, with obvious time gaps. I hope this looks interesting!

It must be noted that you cannot expect this map to be absolutely accurate and right as drawing up every single nationality and their ethnic territories, even acknowledging what is to be considered a separate nationality or sub-nationality wasn't easy. For the sake of fiction, I still believe this is still pretty interesting!
