A list of puns related to "FLOSS Manuals"
Be careful of papercuts
I was looking around for a Scribus workflow, and seeing how to get Markdown to be imported into Scribus and I found this url.
It's a bit dated, but the document is still pretty handy for learning how to plan a brochure or magazine or whatever you're thinking of.
With it being a bit dated, as of 2011, has anyone thought of trying to update this manual? I realize that Scribus has a fantastic manual built-in to the application that covers most of the functions, and there are plenty of YouTube videos that cover how to use Scribus such as those from TJFree.
Don't use some of them. They'll fvck you up.
Sadly, Floss is hit or miss.

An effective oral hygiene routine starts with a few simple steps:
A Proper Brushing Technique for your Teeth
A proper brushing technique is the first step to maintaining healthy teeth and gums. Plus, it helps minimize the risk of tooth decay and gum disease, the major causes of tooth loss.
Before You Begin
While there are several tooth brushing techniques with a manual toothbrush, always ask your dental professional for their recommendation and be sure to follow their instructions. To start, use fluoride toothpaste with a soft-bristle toothbrush, and don't forget to replace it every three months.
Two Minutes, Twice a Day
To brush your teeth correctly, spend at least two minutes using a recommended brushing technique, which includes 30 seconds brushing each section of your mouth (upper right, upper left, lower right and lower left), both morning and night. Since most manual toothbrushes don't have built-in two-minute timers, you may want to have a clock handy so you can be sure you're brushing long enough.
Positioning the Toothbrush
How you hold the toothbrush depends on which part of the tooth you're brushing.
Now that you've learned proper brushing technique, a little discipline in practicing it every day will help make it feel like second nature. It's one of the easiest things you can do to maintain the health of your teeth and gums.

Proper Flossing Technique
I was wondering that since the scaler can remove hardened plaque (something that dental floss can not do) it would actually be even more effective than flossing. And also, you can sterilise and reuse it pretty much indefinitely. So taking into account these (major) advantages, can a dental scaler completely replace flossing? And if so, why isn't this more common? Thanks!
I started one-bagging over ten years ago. I didn't know that was a word. I just wanted to pack for a weekend in my regular backpack so I didn't have to buy one of those little rolling suitcases.
Discovering this subreddit has been amazing. I'm so happy to meet a group of like-minded people and read years of archived discussion on how you all do things.
One thing I've noticed is that many people on this subreddit seem to be on a much bigger budget than I was then or am now. If I didn't already have a few trips under my belt, I might get the impression that you needed all the fancy gear.
This post is my little nudge in the opposite direction. It is, as best as I can reconstruct, my packing list for my first one bag trip, a fall weekend in the Midwest in 2008 or so. It features only items I already owned, none of them travel-specific.
I had kind of a business casual dress code back then.

I bet on the hotel providing soap, shampoo, and a towel. Also, looking back, I bet on the hotel bleaching its shower between bookings, which may not have been wise for that hotel.

Exactly two years ago, I started learning Japanese from zero. Obviously a lot has gone differently than I expected. My Japanese journey began in the airport on the way home from the holidays, on New Year's Day, 2020. My original plan was to study Japanese for 12-15 months and then visit Japan to celebrate my newfound language skills. I would have never guessed that travel to Japan would be impossible now, let alone that I would not have even flown again for Christmas two years later. And of course, learning Japanese turned out to be a lot harder than I expected. However, I have still made a lot of progress over the last two years.
Based on taking the official JLPT practice tests, I'd estimate that I am now N3 in vocab and close to N3 level in reading and listening. However, I still struggle with the grammar section even at the N4 level. (see below for the exact stats)
The ironic part is that back when I started, my goal was just to be able to watch anime without subtitles. I barely cared about reading skills at all, and figured it would only be useful so that I could read signs and writing that showed up onscreen in anime. I've spent considerable time practicing listening, and while I can understand a fraction of the dialog in anime, particularly everyday sayings, I still miss a ton and would always use English subtitles if I actually cared about the story. But I am getting better, and I can e.g. understand most of Noriko's podcast almost effortlessly.
As I've been self-studying, my speaking skills are essentially 0. The big difference from last year is that in February, I started going to a weekly Japanese practice chat (virtual) meetup. However, I gave up on it in September, since I hardly ever tried to say anything and felt like I was making no progress. Usually the way these meetups happen is that the two or three most fluent people spend all the time chatting amongst each other. Even if I tried to say something, it would take me so long to decide on how to say it that the conversation would move on, or else I would say things hesitantly with a questioning tone on every word implicitly asking whether I had it right or not and that meant noone could understand me. It's a real chicken-and-egg problem. I've thought that the solution is to hire a tutor on iTalki, but then I think that I need to get the basics down so that iTalki isn't a complete waste of time,

I passed!
I sat the exam for the first time last Saturday, 12/20. The email saying my results were ready came 4 days later on Wednesday around 5pm. I was surprised they came so quickly; I was expecting it to be at least another week due to the holidays. My score was 91.
I know some things will change since I was probably one of the last groups to sit the 5h40m test with 150 questions (AAPC has confirmed they're moving to 4 hours and 100 questions in January 2022) but I thought I'd recap my experience and tips anyway.
Pilot on me!!
I recently discovered I have tonsil stones and have been having trouble finding good ways to get them out. I have a pretty bad gag reflex which causes my anxiety to flare up pretty badly. It has gotten better since working to get the stones out. I have tried a water pik (little control of the power which caused gagging and bleeding), cotton swabs (more effective but not great), brushing more and Therabreath mouth wash. My stones are pretty small so when they did appear, it was easy for them to get nudged back in when I tried to use a cotton swab. On the advice of this group, I ordered an oral irrigator syringe and it has been the best method yet! The water gently rinses them out and right down my throat so minimal gagging involved. It has the effectiveness of the water pik with the gentleness of the cotton swab and is super easy to use! I discovered and washed out more than I even realized I had! I highly recommend to anyone who hasnβt tried it yet! Link to the one I ordered from Amazon below π

I released a FLOSS software for Linux and I'm working on a game that I like to publish for Linux aswell. I'm wondering if it is comparable to Windows/MacOS where you take a few laptops and check at least if it runs. I found a lot on how to move from Windows to Linux or found discussions about which distribution is great for gaming on Linux - but lack the knowledge / insight if it is comparable.
So far I have automated test for the software running on Linux Ubuntu and I ceck it manually on my laptop with Linux Mint. Is there something like "if it runs there it probably runs on most distributions"? Or is that already not too bad?

Thoughts on the Aer Travel Pack 2 Small
I spent an agonizing amount of time trying to figure out which bag I should go for as my first proper "onebag". Debated between the Osprey Porter 30, ULA Dragonfly, Knack Pack Medium, Regular sized Aer Travel Pack 2, Able Carry Max, Tortuga Setout Divide. Verdict: Its a really great bag. Mind you this is my first trip with it but so far its been great. Build quality is good. It fits me well. Despite overpacking for this trip I found it easy to load up the bag with my stuff. Even though it was 15lbs it felt comfortable to wear though I didn't wear it for extensive periods of time just transiting between car and airports. Looking forward to putting this bag through its paces.
Lessons Learned
I definitely overpacked haha. Still very new to onebag travel so hopefully as

This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
