[Online][Thursday & Saturday][5e][Homebrew][GMT] Looking for a new friend or two to join or Dungeons and Dragons Game

Hello Everyone!

Our Campaign will be ending in March or April and with 2 players dropping out we have decided we’d like to add a new player or two; Collectively we’ve known and played with each other for the better part of 3 years, with a couple of people coming and going over the years. If you’re looking to join a group and make new friends, then we might be the crew for you. To make sure you’re the right person please take note of the following musts.

- Games Take Place Every Thursday and Every Second Saturday (On/Off) The Scheduled times are 7:00pm to 11:00pm GMT both days, In the last 3 years we’ve only cancelled a handful of games so it’s imperative to us all that you can make these times.

- You must be above the age of 25, We’re all adults in our late 20’s Early Thirties. - Webcams will be used during the games.

- Be willing to use/learn to use Discord and our Virtual Platform Foundry VTT.

Please also note that The Campaign will not start until March/April we’re allowing plenty of time to find the right person and will want to invite people to singular sessions or one shots to see what your like. Finally, We do not care for your level of experience in the game, if you’re a novice we’ll teach you, what matters is the Person and the Persona

A Bit about us; We’re a group of people mostly in our twenties with a mix of genders and personalities, we’re all incredibly friendly, open and welcoming. We’re extremely excited to find a new friend. We also come from across the European continent, With players from Portugal to Germany with a few stops between. The game will be played exclusively in English as that is the only language that we all share, “perfect” English is not a necessity. We often share our love of other games with each other hanging out in chat and watching movies too.

The World will be a Very High Magical Sci-Fi Homebrew Setting where the limits of what can be done with magic has been tested. To Quote “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic” though in this case it is magic! The Game begins in the Safety of a City called Eyra, spared from the ruinous destruction that befell the rest of the world Eyra survived a galactic war of gods under a giant protective dome, now 600 years later the city is expanding back into the stars in a period of wonderous discovery. The Aesthetics of the setting vary from world to world, Eyra the Home base and primary setting is a Large City with classical white Aesthetic sat abo

Dungeons & Dragons Online is giving away a ton of content for free

First off, you can find the coupon code here. Basically, they're giving away permanent access to a lot of quests/dungeons that you would otherwise have to subscribe to access (or buy piecemeal).

Also, the first three expansions are on sale for 99 DDO points each, which is so cheap that you can grind it out without paying (or you could buy the DDO points for a few bucks-- the smallest DDO point bundle is $8 for 600 points).

For those that haven't played DDO before... well, it's certainly an old game, that's for sure, and there's a fair amount of jankiness to it. But it's also one of the few MMOs that started development before WoW came out and as a result it has a very, very different core gameplay loop.

I'd say that the biggest thing that makes DDO stand out, to me, is that it's a game that is entirely centered around dungeon crawls, and while you're in a dungeon (called "quests" in this game), you don't regenerate HP or spell points. So every single bit of health that you lose, every bit of offensive magic or healing magic you cast... that's resources that you won't have for the next fight. Basically every dungeon does have one or more rest shrines, which you can use to rest and recover your HP/SP, but you can't reuse the same rest shrine.

This means that unlike a lot of other MMOs, DDO doesn't really have much of a concept of "trash mobs". Like, yeah, there are non-bosses, but handling them cleanly and efficiently is just as important as doing well against the boss, because otherwise you'll be limping into a bossfight with almost no resources left.

It's the kind of game that I go back and play for a month or two every couple of years, just because I like a lot of the ideas that it has, even if it doesn't always execute on them super well.

Completely new player, Dungeons & Dragons(I don't know anything about 5e or 4e or whatever), Online

I've posted on the D&D sub before on getting started with D&D and they were really helpful with giving advice. I checked out the resources they linked an found myself overwhelemed(I did not expect it to be that complicated). As I was looking at a particular video by Matthew Colville(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo_oR7YO-Bw) 2 minutes in, he said that I could just jump right into the game and pick up stuff as I go, and as someone who's just testing the waters, I decided that this was the best option for me.

So here I am, completely new and and looking for a group to play, and hopefully learn, have fun, contribute to, and connect with.

[Online] [Dungeons & Dragons] [Other] Looking for players for a campaign in 5e and Breakfast Cult!

DM: Me

TTRPG Platform: Dungeons and Dragons 5e Or Breakfast Cult

Age Rating: Follow Discord’s Guidelines, but we ask for a certain maturity level from our players!

Mature Content: Things you'd find in any Fantasy setting.

Requirements: A microphone and a willingness to interact with party members in and out of the game!

Homebrew Character Creation Allowed: Yes Homebrew World/Monsters: Yes

Number of sessions: Until I Die

Run Time: 3-5hrs

LF: 5-8 Players

Message me the timeslot that you want to play in. If you don't, I’ll try my best to make it work!

As you wander through your home or rented rooms, you soon meet a familiar face, who treats you to a meal in exchange for willing ears. A famous paladin or warrior waits until most of the crowds have drawn away from you before telling you any news beyond small talk. Finally, the tale begins.

Recently, there have been arcane lights and unidentified sounds that come at night. This obviously has many locals concerned. Rumors say it is the work of an infamous barbarian warrior or evil knight, but none know the truth. It's up to you to get to the bottom of the controversy and learn what it means for all the folk and lands around the ruins of a lost city. In exchange for your aid, you'll gain the reward of 100 GP as well as additional accolades as heroes of the ruins of a lost city.

Breakfast Cult Campaign will have you playing ass teens in a modern-day boarding school with some witch-like twists that your character can search for! (This one is a lot more casual than the dnd one!)

Dungeons & Dragons Online - Are there any guilds recruiting new players?

Hello there.

I've been playing DDO for a very short time, but fell in love with this game anyway. Due to complete soloing i've dropped the game for a time. Now i want to return, but before this i just want to find some company to play with. The best way to reach my goal is to find a proper guild, i suppose. Are there some guilds that are still recruiting for new players? I have 2 chars - a mage and a thief, both 2 lvl.

Thanks in advance!

[Hiring] (Online) Looking for someone to write Dungeons & Dragons - related blog articles. $75-$200 per 750-1500 word article depending on quality and length.

Edit 2: I've marked the post as filled for now so I have a chance to read everyone's writing samples and submissions. Thank you all again!

Edit: thank you all so much for your interest! I will read everyone's submissions and reach out to people later today (11/5/2020). I have quite a few to get through, so don't assume I'm not interested if I don't reply immediately.

Greetings Adventurers!

We are looking for a freelance writer who enjoys playing D&D and/or other RPGs to write some content for our RPG accessories website. We have some pre-selected topics but are also open to author ideas and suggestions. The initial job is for a series of 2 articles, 750-1000 words each, paying $150 total. We prefer to pay for services through Paypal or Venmo. If we like your writing style and content, we would be interested in making this an ongoing contract for 1-2 articles per month.

We would like the articles to reflect both a passion and experience with D&D. We are also looking for a writer who is open to some editing of their content prior to its publication, as we may need to add SEO or other optimization to the article. Timelines are flexible but we generally expect a final draft within 2-3 weeks of assigning a topic. You will be credited as the author of the content if you would like to be, or you can pen anonymously, whichever you prefer.

We are a small business that manufactures D&D accessories like dice and maps. Our blog has suffered from a lack of content due to us being focused on the production side of the business, and we would like to change that. If you can help us out, we'd love to hear from you!

As a keyword (as suggested in the sidebar of this subreddit), tell me what your D&D character's class and background (e.g. Druid/Hermit) is as part of your reply if you are interested! Can't wait to meet you all!

A month ago I started my journey in Dungeons & Dragons Online- a game I ignored for many years. I made a video explaining why I think MMO players should revisit the game, especially now.

Just over a month ago I joined the Dungeons & Dragons Online community and have experienced some of the best gaming I've had in a long time. Last night I finished a video essay on why I believe MMO players and tabletop D&D players should revisit the game.

DDO has very much become exactly the MMO that my group and I have wanted for a long time. The character customization, the trap and puzzle focused content, the variety of damage types, the magic items- it hits so many checkboxes for a dream MMO list that has built up after years of bouncing from one new MMO to the next.

All of us have been absorbed by it over the last month and are excited for what's next. Streaming the game on Twitch has been an absolute pleasure and the community has been so very welcoming.

I put together a video explaining my thoughts on the game after this first month and I thought I'd share it all with you.

[5E][online] Medieval Fantasy Dungeons & Dragons campaign looking for players!

<<<ALL SPOTS FILLED>>>

Welcome to the brass realms, my personalized home-brew setting for Dungeons and dragons 5th edition.

We are looking for a couple players to play in an open-world heroic campaign.

We usually play every Sunday, 14:00 GMT+1, we use discord for voice and roll20 for the game.

No prior experience or resources required.

Please do not apply if you cannot make the stated time. If your schedule is likely to change soon, do not apply.

-18+ only

-we do not do ERP

-No evil PC's

-No homebrew classes or races

Warning! This is a significantly more 'medieval' setting than you might expect if you are a fan of Critical role. My reference for this world is Game of Thrones or the Witcher, rather than World Of Warcraft in terms of how fantastical and magical the entire world is. (however you as the main character will also have a significantly more magical experience than what is normal, of course) The race selection for example has been pruned down significantly and there is a large amount of mistrust towards magic users in the setting.

For more details on the setting, Check the World Anvil. read the Setting Primer and the Houserules if you are interested, anything beyond that is optional.

If you're interested, message me on discord, <ALL SPOTS FILLED>

What are your expectations for the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons (2023) movie?

For those who didn't know one was coming; it's set in Forgotten Realms, directed and written by Game Night (2018) directors and e.g. Spider-Man: Homecoming writers, who have some other interesting pieces in their CV as well, like the upcoming The Flash movie. Starring Chris Pine and Hugh Grant among others.

The filming is completed and the movie was supposed to be released already in 2022, but was pushed back due to COVID-19.

With this recipe, do you think this could be an actual solid movie? Because I do. I didn't yet mention that Aquaman writer has participated in the story writing as well.

How much on the scale of 1d20 were you disappointed when you heard it's delayed?

Last thing, few months ago there were rumors that Benedict Cumberbatch would be involved. It's not confirmed but here's my conspiracy theory: that's because he's voice acting a dragon only and thus not needed on set. How awesome would this be after The Hobbit?
