A list of puns related to "Classical ballet"
I would love to catch a show but I'm on a tighter budget. I'm not a student but I guess I can be considered youth (under 30). Any guidance on where to snag something on a shoestring budget?
Laetitia is an excellent teacher, warm and amusing, former first soloist of the Birmingham Royal Ballet. This repertoire class does substantial hunks of classical ballets. She tailors the class very well to the students' abilities, and provides clear, helpful feedback. It's a really fun class!

I was watching the BBC Proms (as one does), and the main motif(?) of this piece [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dep1ZpMa3nM] reminded me of another tune that had only a slight variation on this - in that the last note goes up instead of down.
I've attempted to recreate this as a recording of an online piano as it's probably more useful than me going "nananana nananana na na naaa", and that can be found here [https://vocaroo.com/1ZrMUcMM3R0T]. It's likely in the wrong key and poorly timed but it's better than nothing.
Thanks in advance :)
Are there any classical ballets that take place in the modern day (i.e. a ballet with traditional ballet choreography, with a modern setting)?
Looking for Ballet classes for primary school age girls, preferably in the northern suburbs. Really looking for classes that only focus on classical Ballet instead of Jazz/Tap/Funk/etc. Thanks!
ta taa da daa daa.. tan tan tan tan,

My favorite of his was his La Bayadere variation from the YAGP this year. Here are some others I'd love to see:
Sleeping Beauty, Prince Florimund Act II
Brady did the Act III variation at YAGP, and it's just not my favorite variation in general--often the dancing's energy doesn't rise up to the gallant, exuberant nature of the music. I think the emotional aspects of this variation would suit Brady well.
One heck of a stamina and control challenge
Lots of panache in those leaps!
I am trying to find a song I can really only remember a snippet of melody from. I know I have heard it a bunch in tv shows and movies but can not think of any in particular. I think it might be from a ballet. I have recreated what I can remember below.
Tchaikovsky's Symphony No 5 is a work that comes to mind for me. The 2nd movement especially sounds like something from a romantic ballet. I can still remember playing it many years back and thinking "how come there hasn't been a ballet set to this music yet?"
I ran across this by accident. Over the last 25 years I've never seen anything this complete online for free before on youtube. Dutch Ballet company is giving a COMPLETE ballet class over 25+ hours. It's in parts but I already downloaded the first 15. There's centre work as well. Enjoy!

As a dancer I always love hearing about them talking about "ballet season" but I think it would be really fun to see the different choreography to the same music. In particular there are SO many versions of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake but I'd love to see them watch the version by Matthew Bourne
I am wondering if there are many lesbians who are professional, or very keen amateur ballerinas?
I'm a musician and currently playing in a ballet season, and tonight started wondering just how many of the women in the ballet company would actually be lesbian? Classical ballet is so heteronormative (which is something that has always turned me off ballet), but I wondered if lesbians are still drawn to ballet, and reaching professional level? I started reading about Ballez tonight, and think that is such a great idea... and it made me look at ballet in a completely different new and interesting light.
I'm lucky to know quite a few lesbian and gay musicians (which is quite normal for music), but I know nothing about ballet and wondered if anyone here could tell me about that world... What is it like being a lesbian in ballet?
So i have this beautiful melody on my mind since a long time but I can't remember the name of this piece because it was from when I was a kid. All I know is I heard it in ballet class. I was in the Royal academy of dance and I left at grade 3, so it's either from grade 2 or 3 syllabus. It was a winds piece (flute and ensemble joined in in the end).
here is a voice recording . Excuse the weird runs, I'm not really talented in the vocals department haha.
TIA!
Edit : I found it! It's the Pliés music B here is a piano recording I found . The piece is III. Musette Gurrière by Etiénne Marcel
I'm looking to stay in the $300-$400 range. I definitely do not want to go over $500. It's for a classical variation and needs to be icy blue or silver/white in color. I'm a 5'9 tall adult, not overweight, but not professional-dancer-level thin either. I would likely need custom sizing because of my height.
Mainstream websites like discountdance always have great practice leotards, but not much in the way of great looking costumes for classical variations, especially if you're not a small child.
I also don't want to spend a thousand dollars having someone design something for me. Are there any websites selling pre-designed high-quality classical costumes (with custom sizing options)? I was recommended a website called http://www.odiletutu.com/ and it looks promising. Just wondering if there are more options out there to compare to.
I've tried finding this using midomi with no luck. Maybe someone recognizes it? Thanks.
Hello Helpers :)
I have this piece of classical music stuck in my head... I am pretty sure it is something operatic or a ballet, but I might be wrong about this.
I think the piece is quite famous by a renowned composer (for some reason I am thinking Tchaikovsky)
I am thankful for any clues!
Before COVID, I would take ballet classes several times a week. The piano player for one of the classes often played a song that I loved but have never been able to identify. I recorded a Vocaroo.
https://voca.ro/17FiK46ny5MK
The piano player always used sheet music so the song was not an improvised melody or something that she made up. I live in the United States but some of the music that the piano player used had Russian writing on it. The piece may have a European composer. I have only heard the song played on piano but there is a chance it was written for vocals or other instruments and she had a piano version.
If anyone could help identify this song, I would appreciate it!
I'm working on a ballet, and I'm having some trouble looking for music that would work for a bright, bustling town scene. If it had not been written for a movie, I would have definitely used Patrick Doyle's "Hogwarts' March", as that perfectly captures the choreography I have in mind. But alas, I can't use it, especially since my ballet is most certainly not related to "Harry Potter". So I would love any recs for classical music that has a similar bright, cheerful feel. It can't be from any ballets, operas, or other such works though.
I may end up writing my own music for this particular town scene, in which case I would use any recs as inspiration for my own work.
I thought it was in The Swan Lake, or something like The Moldeau by Smetana, or Shereazade or Spartacus by Katchaturian... so far no luck finding it but it's so well known. Here's the link to my kinda whistling it, sorry for horrible sound and wind in the mic!
I am trying to remember a song I can only remember a small bit of the melody of. Pretty sure I have heard it used in multiple tv shows/movies, think it might be from a ballet. I have recreated what I can remember below.
Iβm trying to identify an uptempo piece of classical music that the piano player would often play in ballet classes. I have recorded a Vocaroo here.
https://voca.ro/1n0s7n10TPgK
The piano player often used music that had Russian or French writing on it. It could be a folk tune of some sort. I heard this piece as recently as February/March 2020, before in-person ballet classes were cancelled due to COVID.
This piece always put me in a good mood. If anyone could help identify it, I would appreciate it!
