A list of puns related to "Amalgam (dentistry)"
I find dentistry very interesting. I have spent many hours in the chair with fillings, root canals and crowns.. (bad habits as a teen, no insurance for several year). I have smartened up as an adult and take my self care very seriously now.
Recently I have begun surfing the web and watching dental videos on youtube, the technology and craft is quite amazing.. I had a question and wanted the dental pros on the this sub to help me understand something.
Several folks on the web are stating that flouride is a poison and it will kill you, when all along the dental community has told me to use flouride.
Same line of questioning, several people in the "holistic health" field claim amalgam (mercury?) fillings are also poison and will also kill you slowly. (I have many)
Could you please shed light on these two topics and let me know if these claims are serious or should I pay no attention to this chatter.
Please tell me WHY, if you can.
Thank You for all you do.
Hey everyone! I study in an iranian dentistry school, so our courses are probably widely different. so keep that in mind. also sorry for the bad english, im working on it lol
i have a question. are you guys still taught about amalgam prep? were your preparative classes more focused on amalgam prep and filling or more on composite fillings? As for us, we mostly were taught about amalgam, as its more cost friendly and it is still being widely used here and we had very very limited explanation on composites.
Also, what books do you guys recommend for esthetic dentistry? i study "art and science" but i feel like its not of much clinical appliance. What book do you guys recommend that can be very beneficial in the clinic as well?
Any similarity to actual persons, living or dead, is purely Coinci Dental.
Why weren't they in New War? Did they all die with Ropalolyst? Did they not fit the aesthetic? Were they always supposed to be just a Jupiter enemy?
I didn't anticipate anything big with them, nor am I disappointed, but they could have been a nice break between all the Bratchiolysts.

What's the difference between the two words? Anyone please? Thank you!
I hope everyone had a nice summer and enjoyed a smooth transition back into school and/or clinic! It's been a bit hectic here but I've been able to squeeze in time to finish this new section of the INBDE Prep Deck :D
More info about the INBDE deck and how to use it in my original post. I've been getting quite a few questions about getting things up and running so I've been toying with the idea of making a simple video showing how to download the deck and get set up. If that's something that you'd find helpful, please let me know.

Better late than never, here's the next installment of the Mental Dental INBDE series : Operative Dentistry. From my experience with the test I had very few questions that could have been answered by going through this playlist. The videos on amalgam and instrumentation are maybe the least high-yield from the series and the others may be worth it if you've got the time.
If you think that there is high-yield information that I've missed, or if you've passed the INBDE and were tested on something that isn't included, feel free to comment with your suggestions or fill out the google form below. Same goes for any corrections that may be needed.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I have read that amalgam fillings release mercury into your body and CNS. Many people report they cured DP/DR, anxiety, fatigue and depression with removal of amalgam filled tooth/teeth. Your thoughts?

Good winter eventide ladies and germs. My first post here, and for that special occasion I have a Spyderco Amalgam to sell or trade. Nothing wrong with it, I just bought it when I was first starting this hobby, before I knew what I liked. Lockup is solid. It does have a weak detent, which is evidently an common issue, and also the centering is off on this example. I've taken it apart and cleaned it, but I can't fix the centering. Not saying it can't be done, just not by me. I tried to show it as well as I could in the photos. It has been used, mostly breaking down cardboard, nothing heavy duty. It's been on a Sharpmaker a few times but that's it. It has the tiniest little nick in the edge which you can just barely see in the center of the close-up of the blade. It will come out easily with a little sharpening. It's fairly sharp at the moment. I can't believe it, but I just found the box and papers for it too. Not in bad shape, either. I can't think of anything else, if you have any questions let me know.
BladeHQ and Knifecenter are asking $217.35. Let's take a hundred off and call it $117. I'm open to trades, I wouldn't mind a Barlow style knife or another doctor's (physician's) knife. I might not be online here shortly, but I will get back to you when I can.
Hi all! I did some research on this & interviewed 2 dentists this week. Here are my notes on this topic - hope someone finds it helpful.
It's a mixture that consists of 50% of mercury (quicksilver), 22-32% of silver, ~14% of tin, and ~8% of copper. The use of mercury based dental amalgam was first found recorded in Tang Dynasty, China (657 AD). The current formula was developed by an American dentist in 1896 - that's 125 years ago!
In terms of physical properties:
Simple answer is yes, according to WHO, ADA, and FDA.
>The FDI World Dental Federation and the World Health Organization concluded in a 1997 consensus statement: βNo controlled studies have been published demonstrating systemic adverse effects from amalgam restorations.β Another conclusion of the report stated that, aside from rare instances of local side effects of allergic reactions, βthe small amount of mercury released from amalgam restorations, especially during placement and removal, has not been shown to cause any β¦ adverse health effects.β
>
>In 1998, the ADAβs Council on Scientific Affairs published its first major review of the scientific literature on dental amalgam which concluded that βbased on available scientific information, amalgam continues to be a safe and effective restorative material.β The Councilβs report also stated, βThere currently appears to be no justification for discontinuing the use of dental amalgam.β

I wanted to show some love to Madison No Fear Dentistry. After being dismissive for a number of years about going to the dentist, I made an appointment with them to get caught up. Everybody from the reception staff to the hygienist and dentist were incredibly kind, understanding and patient. It turns out ya boy needs a lot of restorative work, but it really was the best dentist experience I have ever had and would highly recommend that if you have any fear of judgement at the dentist, to give them a look (if you happen to have Delta Dental for insurance)

Hello I was wondering on the safety of using NAC with Amalgam fillings which is made from elemental mercury silver and some other metals. I've read using it with the fillings could cause mercury to go past the blood brain barrier. Thanks for chiming in I have an autoimmune disease I planned to use NAC for but I'm putting it off until I find out more about the Dental Fillings.
Like, I'm indecisive on whether I like the original Super Soldier or the Fantastic Four + Superman Family more, and sometimes I even like Spider-Man or Thor + Superman. That said, Spider-Man also works with Batman and the Flash. Blue Beetle also sort of works, but he doesn't have an extensive enough rogue's gallery or as big of a presence in the universe, unfortunately. Batman also works with Daredevil, the Punisher sort of, Iron Man, Captain America even. The Flash also works with Iron Man (IMO) and Quicksilver also gets a lot of mentions, though Scarlet Witch and X-Men connections also make that complicated.
X-Men + Teen Titans? Doom Patrol? Legion of Superheroes, even? Guardians of the Galaxy + Legion of Superheroes was canon and also makes sense, and the GotG that got adapted to the MCU also works with LEGION/REBELS. But I've also been intrigued by that incarnation mixing with Justice League Dark. Although Justice League Dark/Shadowpact mixes well with Defenders/Midnight Sons. Doctor Strange himself mixes with Doctor Fate originally, but also kind of works with John Constantine, who also works with Blade, but Blade also works with Jonah Hex a bit.
Then there's the Hulk. The Hulk doesn't really have a direct equivalent in terms of both status and his general character type and role. Big monster guys? Well, there's characters like Solomon Grundy and Blockbuster, but what do you do with the Hulk's rogues gallery, spin-off characters, etc.? Swamp Thing is close, but he has both other obvious and non-obvious match-ups. Superman has a lot. Green Lantern can mix with Nova, but that's a whole organization for both, so maybe Hal Jordan can mix with Bruce Banner. Or the Hulk can go with the Flash, scientists who get into an accident and get majorly heightened in one particular aspect (strength/speed). Etrigan sort of works, but he feels like a different sort of supernatural than the Hulk. I heard Metamorpho before, which also has some fitting elements (ha), but also he works with the Thing and a few other characters. Which I guess goes back to the Fantastic Four, which also has multiple options, like the Doom Patrol, Terrifics, Challengers of the Unknown, probably others.
Getting back to Captain America, he honestly has a lot of options. The entire DC trinity could work, as could other versions of the Flash and the Green Lantern. I mean, I've even heard Shining Knight as an option before. Iron Man also has a few. There, the entire trinity also works, even W

Both stratagems are used in the command phase, but how do they interact?
If I used the Esteem Amalgam Stratagem (Emperor's chosen unique stratagem) to pick a shield host trait, and then Unleashed the lions, would each individual Terminator get the chosen shield host traits for that turn?
Having 6 individual models with reroll charges would be pretty nice, but it seems a bit too good to work like that.
