A list of puns related to "Holistic dentistry"
I went to see my dentist for discomfort when chewing. The spot was a root canal with a crown. He injected ozone treatment and gave me a treatment plan to extract the root canal and get an implant. X-rays did not show any decay but he doesnβt believe people should have root canals. The treatment was worse than the problem as my face is all swollen and painful after that shot. I started researching his methods and now I am thinking he may be guided by junk science.

Thatβs the place in particular that she recommended. I see they do ozone therapy on teeth (?) is that recognized in the dental community? Does it work?
What are yβallβs thoughts on biological dentistry? Iβm skeptical
After reviewing the list of 20 βholisticβ topics they sent, Iβve decided to set an ultimatum. If I feel the subject matter is not scientifically valid enough, I can change the title and topic at my discretion (Iβve already mentally deleted 4) and that every post has to be backed by a legitimate scientific journal or study. Anything else will serve to dispel myths of βall naturalβ remedies which could be potentially harmful.
Also, I raised my rate :)
Hopefully, they agree. If not, I told them to make other arrangements. It feels good to stick to my guns even if it means losing a client. They were paying me criminally low anyway, and I donβt want to play a role in spreading misinformation.
Thanks for all the advice and laughs in my initial post!
Edited to fix mobile errors.
I was looking around for a new dentist, and one of them listed "Holistic Dentistry" as one of their specialties. Does anyone know anything about that? Should that be a concern to a woo-shunning skeptic such as myself? Are they going to tell me to do some sort of voodoo cleanse on my colon to purge "toxins" in order to help my gums stay healthy?
We're still moving into the area, trying to establish our new list of basic service providers. Our old dentist is a 600-mile round-trip drive from CoMO so we're looking for someone closer.
Needs to be someone who doesn't do amalgam fillings. Holistic dentistry a plus.
Everyone in the household is adult / senior; not needing someone specializing in pediatric.
We've talked to a couple but they want to schedule a consult for months down the road and then setup a 5-figure treatment plan, spread out over months. If we call for an appointment, it's because we need something DONE, in one visit. Example: one of the seniors had an old filling fall out and needs it fixed ASAP, not two or three visits from now. Wait long enough and it may need a crown instead of a filling.
I realize it's difficult to schedule such things during the holiday season but ... any recommendations for someone who actually gets stuff done, in a timely fashion?
Thanks in advance.
I'm from the UK β where a GP will look at all aspects of your health except your teeth, and dentistry is its own profession that seems completely bifurcated from other medical spheres.
It always seemed weird to me that we look at issues with teeth as separate from the rest of the body when there's got to be a ton of conditions where oral health and other areas of health are deeply connected, or overlap.
At some point I heard terms like "biological dentistry" and "whole-body dentistry", which purport to look at the teeth as part of a holistic health framework, but on closer reading there's a lot of woolly wellness and homeopathy rubbish associated with this idea.
Why is the healthcare industry like this? And why is integrated dentistry rhetoric so aligned with alternative medicine and the scientific fringe?
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
