A list of puns related to "Winter Park Resort"
I am considering a trip between my city and Winter Park, Colorado for a ski vacation someday. Just me, a pair of 165cm atomics, and open powder. I would stay in Fraser, where the train station is, and ride the town's public transit to the resort. Maybe spend 4 nights out there and then ride the train home.
I like riding trains, but I've had some god awful experiences with coach so I'm not looking to do that again for an overnight.
My route would be Pittsburgh-Chicago on the Capitol Limited, 5hr layover, then Chicago-Winter Park on the Zephyr. I have a few questions:
How comfortable are the roomettes for a person with 2 bulky suitcases that can't be checked, a backpack, and a 6.5ft long ski bag?
Is the Flexible dining any good?
How is the traditional dining on the Zephyr, do you need to pay extra?
Is the cafe car free? I really don't mind Amtrak coffee, but I do mind paying for it.
Are the in-car showers gross?
Is the Chicago Union Lounge a safe place to store very expensive equipment for a few hours?
as we all take to the resorts for the winter i went and landed an interview later in the week and wanted a better perspective as to what to expect, any advice is nice, thanks!
I'm looking into visiting winter park from Pittsburgh some day via train. Looks like it is $400 round trip with a transfer in Chicago and a bus from frazer. Has anyone ever taken the train and bus to this area? It's cheaper than plane + Uber, and it looks like the resort town has transit.
Motherβs Day is May 9th and my friend group of dads wanted to surprise our wives with an overnight trip for all of them away from the kids. If we book them a place in Winter Park for the weekend of the 14th will anything at the base be open? Or does the whole resort pretty much close down similar to Keystone?
Went to Winter Park today and ended up calling it at about noon due to poor conditions (wind/ice). Due to the strong winds, the resort closed down some of the major lifts to most of the good blue runs like Panoramic Express, Olympia, Gondola, Pioneer Express, Sunnyside. Not being able to catch Gondola back to Mary Jane sucked since I had to wait 30 minutes for the bus back to my car along with everyone else packing it in for the day.
How were conditions for any of the other I-70 corridor resorts today? I'm wondering if things are better at ABasin specifically since I'm planned to go there tomorrow... Forecast calls for it to be windy tomorrow but not as windy as today.
Were any other resorts closing lifts today? I'm new to COsnow so just trying to figure out which resort is the best on crappy days like today.
Hi all, I'm currently in Florida for college and not happy (I'm from CO). I'm looking for a drastic change and I'm dying to move back to Colorado and live in the mountains again. Currently, I'm trying to make a SUPER last-minute decision about whether or not I should defer a semester of college and work at Winter Park, Colorado for the ski season. I love skiing, and I love the mountains but this is still a huge decision.
Is working at a ski resort as fun as it sounds or am I just romanticizing it in my head? Even if you know nothing about working/living at a ski resort- any words of advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've recently been living with a very just do it mindset. This could be unhealthy but I've been thinking a lot about how we're all going to die one day and I would rather die happy and with no regrets than die with a college degree I don't care about. I'm craving new experiences and people and insane adventures and I'm just not finding it in Florida. Please give some advice :)
EDIT: I'm going to be deferring a semester, not completely dropping out. I'm thinking of transferring next Fall anyways, and if I do so, I will likely have to start over as a Freshmen again anyways (I go to a very liberal arts school with strange classes that will probably not transfer credits well).

2/8/21 Joint Statement from Grand County Public Health and Winter Park Resort
GRAND COUNTY, CO β On the week of February 8, 2021, Grand County Public Health (GCPH) will be reporting to the state an outbreak at Winter Park Resort (WPR) among resort employees. This declaration allows more state resources to be pulled in to aid with suppressing COVID activity in the WPR employee group. WPR, GCPH and CDPHE will continue to monitor the outbreak until two incubation periods (28 days) have passed with no new outbreak-related COVID-19 positive cases. Through case investigations, it has been determined that these cases have not been traced back to transmission through interaction with visitors but, rather, from social gatherings outside of the workplace and congregate housing.
WPR has worked closely and been transparent with state and local public health authorities since the onset of the pandemic and in recent weeks to navigate these dynamic circumstances. WPR has an onsite testing site that they have managed since December and has consistently utilized GCPH testing sites as deemed necessary.
Throughout the past few months, WPR has implemented robust contact tracing among employees which has helped GCPH and a CDPHE contact tracing support team has been enlisted as needed during this outbreak. WPR has also enlisted a CDPHE epidemiology/hygiene consult to further investigate changes that could be made that could suppress COVID activity among employees.
CDPHE and WPR are proactively enacting protocols that allow more state resources to be used in aid of suppressing COVID-19 activity in the WPR employee group, including increased testing and this announcement. WPR, GCPH and the Grand County Board of Health (BOH) will utilize all local and state resources in order to address these cases and support the community.
It is important to remember that it is every individualβs personal and professional responsibility to make the right decisions and hold each other to the safest standards possible. Please continue to take preventative measures to protect yourself and others.
Hi All,
I'm snowboarding at Winter Park all of next week. Unfortunately, I have a Zoom meeting a need to attend on Monday from 1PM to 2:30PM. I don't have too active so it does not need to be dead quite but I do need to show my face. Anyone have any recommendation on where I can get decent wifi or service (T-mobil) and sit for about an hour somwhere around the resort? Hotel won't allow me to use the lobby since I'm not a guest. Any nearby coffee shops with decent wifi and seating?
Thanks!
Looking to teach a new friend to snowboard and obviously don't want them blowing their money on a lift ticket when they won't be using the whole mountain. Last year, or the year before, I used the Goose to teach another friend and it was only $10-$20 and free on some Fridays. Just wondering if covid has affected any of this and if I can just show up and get a Goose ticket. If anyone has suggestions of places better than the Goose to learn that would be nice too, I think Loveland has something similar, but not sure how good it is (Goose is a pretty long beginner run with a lift).
Deleted and reposted because I misread. Winter Park is only selling a limited number of daily lift tickets. You can't buy them yet but you can get a season pass: Winter Park, other Ikon Pass resorts not planning to require reservations to ski βat this timeβ
Recently made a snowboard edit of last seasons spring footage. It was kind of scary seeing the world shut down all their ski resorts at the end of winter minus a couple. Im lucky enough to be living in the Niseko area to see it run the lifts all the way to early April.
Heres the snowboard video we made
Hope it gets some of you guys stoked for the northern hemisphere season around the corner and hopefully some travel restrictions get lifted.
