Ive been thinking of moving to Harrisburg. Ive read online its crime rate, safety etc but I havent found any thing online where someone has compared the two cities.

Any experience? Any insight?

Hi Reddit! My husband and I will potentially be moving to the area this summer before he starts law school (Dickinson). We currently live in NYC so know this will be a big shift for us. I am curious if anyone could point us toward neighborhoods/areas that would be good for a youngish married couple? We are 30, into music, good food, hiking, rock climbing, board games, reality TV and a bunch of other things! I am feeling nervous about working from home and not being able to meet people while he is busy with law school. Open to any and all suggestions for meeting people and areas that would be a good fit for us, thanks so much :)

My wife and I are moving to the Harrisburg area. We are not yet looking for a house so we just started doing some apartment shopping. She is likely to be working from home so we need somewhere that will support good Internet and is convenient to work out of. We want a 1 bedroom place that is reasonably priced and is in an area with good walkability (ideally, not in the city). Any advice for specific complexes? We have little familiarity with the area as well, so feel free to add some general advice as we plan to make the move.

Also, we are followers of Jesus with a Reformed bent theologically, so any recommendations for churches would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone having problems sending in their prints? I sent mine priority w/ signature and it arrived at the harrisburg dist center and it has been stuck there for many days.

Hi, Lancaster resident here. I'm taking the train to Harrisburg for the Farm Show this Thursday, and while my primary plan is to take the CAT bus from the train station the the complex, (I already have a pass from a previous trip) I heard that there's also a shuttle service running from downtown Harrisburg to the complex until 2 PM. In the case of my train arriving late and me missing the CAT bus, I'd probably try using the shuttle. Trouble is, I can't seem to find a schedule anywhere for it, or more importantly, where exactly the shuttle picks up from in the downtown area. Do any of you know where the shuttle picks up from?

I just got an admit for penn State Harrisburg MSCS, but don't what to think about it. Online there is no direct ranking given to compare with other universities. Is it good as university park or near ? Or I am losing selecting this ?

I’m not from the area, I only seen it in person once while driving by. Since it’s abandoned can you walk on it or will you get arrested for doing that. Also are you allowed to walk on the bridge right next to it? I think it’s called the Susquehanna River Bridge.

What the title says - I’ve worn glasses my whole life and need a new exam and pair. I prefer to avoid Visionworks, Pearle, and LensCrafters etc and would rather give my business to someone local.

I don't know a tremendous amount about Harrisburg, but I do think it's an interesting city that is in need of revitalization.

This sounds very strange to those who don’t have a clue about this phenomenon. I’m in my 20’s now, and back in the early 2000’s, there was a HUGE teddy bear that sat on top of the CPM’s fountain around Christmas. It would move its head, blink, and talk. Please, does anyone else remember this??? If you have any pics or know about this bear, please comment!!

I was in Harrisburg for the first time yesterday. The city seemed quite dead for a Monday night. I live in Pittsburgh and it’s always active here. Also comparing the Reddit page numbers was really surprising. Why doesn’t the capital of PA have as much as Pittsburgh? Seems odd to me.
