Wattpad Puns

Wattpad can be a good start for anyone’s creative writing career, but let’s be honest here, it’s not the most mature place to grow as a writer…

With content creators and popular animators name dropping the Archive more and more often, is it any surprise that young Wattpad and Twitter users are flocking to Ao3 in droves?

And I DO mean droves… this is the current wait time to create an account. 64,000 people are in the queue. An 11 day wait as of today. It was less than 24 hours when I made mine back in 2017.

With all the shitty history and anti-fanwork practices of places like FanFiction dot net, Tumblr and Livejournal throughout the years, Ao3 is comparatively lenient in what it allows. Despite this, it does have some very strict rules as a functioning archive.

Rules, that these droves of fans are BREAKING DAILY.

Most commonly this one. Non-fanwork content. And most commonly within a certain Minecraft adjacent fandom.

Notice how those posts were all created today? Fun fact, those were all on the same page too. They literally outnumbered the other short stories I filtered for.

The Archive is not your personal blog. It is not Twitter. It is not Tumblr. It is not Wattpad. You CANNOT post this shit.

If you’re gonna switch sites, at the very least read the rules. I get it, rules are boring, they suck. But damn it, this website is my home and I’m getting really tired of reporting every last lingering request, empty prompt and social media plug I see.

This site is run by volunteers. The small team of people that have to look into my unfortunate reports are flooded with rule breaking posts 24/7.

Please, if you chance upon any of this sludge along your Ao3 journey, be a good neighbor and report the fuck out of them.

Look, I have no problem with people translating my fics, especially if they source it, but, just like, that's not how you ask!

Especially since it's a guest review on FFN, which, I can't reply to!

Now I'm half tempted to wait for the fic to show up on wattpad and report it after they translated it because of how frustrating the way they asked is.

Is that petty of me?

for anything other then fan fiction? i’ve been writing something for a while, and ao3 is only a fan fiction site and wattpad isn’t but no one reads anything other than fan fiction on there. i haven’t heard of anyone writing on there in forever. i remember wattpad was really popular a couple years ago (probably 4 years ago) or maybe i was just in a group of people who were really into it

I'm gonna copyright my book in a few weeks and I'm thinking of putting it on Wattpad and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with it. Good or bad.

FMC DOESN'T END UP WITH THE FIRST GUY SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH. She eventually falls for the second or any other love interest (that isn't the first one) and ends up with him. I just love this trope so much! and I want MORE books to add to my collection, lol. YES EXACTLY LIKE ACOTAR, THE SHATTER ME SERIES OR THE VAMPIRE DIARIES TV SHOW.

I was 12 or 13 years old when I first started my wattpad journey. I admitted I was into this type of novels na kung saan ung bad boy na inlove sa good girl, ito ang karamihan na kinakikiligan lagi ng mga kabataan. Ang disturbing pa ay tumaas ang kanilang "standard" kuno sa mga lalaki pero nung binasa ko ang book ng character nila eh puro nalang egoism, emotional abuse and physical abuse ang pinoportray ng character. Minsan makakabasa ka rin ng stockholm and lima syndrome. Ang mas malala mga babae pa ang nagsusulat ng mga ganitong novels.

Napaka talamak ng ganitong stories in this age na pinaglalaban natin ang equality and respect sa bawat isa.

Edit: Another thing, bakit ung books with strong sexual content nilalagay dun sa teen fiction?

What the hell is wrong with wattpad every story has to be cringy, edgy, or god forbid an izuku yagi story like....why?

Hello! I’m currently in the middle of s2. Two things: First, I’m so disappointed in the dialogue Bc I actually think they are all decent actors, but this writing is doing them so dirty. Especially kory and gar. I feel so bad for the actors having to put up with playing badly written characters. Second: Is there anyone else who dislikes Hank and dawns dynamic? Their relationship up to this point Has been him getting angry and behaving like a stereo typical CW alpha male and her having the archetype of a momtherly caretaker character always calming him down. Like it’s literally the same thing each time and I don’t care about them at all 😂😂 literally skipping thru all their scenes together. How is their relationship more important than the development of kory and dicks relationship that’s been put on the backseat? Lmk what y’all think! I’d feel so validated if internet folks agree w me cause idk anyone who watches this show irl

I like fanfics

I’m bored, feeling brave, and in the mood to go crazy with in-line comments.

I’ll read at least 5 chapters of each one I get to as a promise but there is no guarantee I will be able to get to them all.

And there is a chance I won’t actually be into the fandom or ship or whatever so if you post a MHA fic don’t expect any sort of serious reviews.

This is my first time on this subreddit and I just have a question for everyone. Am I publishing my works on the wrong website, specifically Wattpad?

I write stories from various fandoms, sometimes crossing two into one story, and I just don’t feel I’m progressing. I just feel something is wrong cause I don’t get a whole lot of feedback and it just bugs me. Can someone help me out?

Random question, but what books have you read and loved that started out on Wattpad and then were published?

Or some other site? Or do you wish to publish on hardcopy? Just wanted to hear your opinion on what the best way to "publish" a book is.

I have never used Tumblr or Wattpad, probably because my 'introduction' point to fan fiction was during a time when Tumblr and Wattpad had particularly bad reputations. DashCon ball pit memes were at their peak and stories of toxic interactions and infighting were rampant, and I think Jellopocalpyse had also recently posted his 'welcome to FFN' Video which portrayed Wattpad in an extremely negative light, more so than FFN. There was also an added idea that Wattpad was only for Very young writers. (like 12 to 14 years old)

So after almost 10 years I'm kind of curious, are they worth posting to, if so, what has been your experience and has that stigma changed?

I wrote a book 5 years ago on Wattpad that gained a lot of traction and is #5 right now in healthcare.

I don’t want to make money off that book, my writing has improved A TON since then, but I’d like to write for Wattpad now and make it a paid for type book.

Is this something I can do, or does Wattpad put a price on them once they get published and popular? I’ve been looking on the website but I can’t find an answer! Thanks!

I have been using wattpad for 6 years now but I never dared to publish anything. I never thought my writing was good enough to be shown to people. But this year I am coming out of my shell and going to keep updating my books there! I am kinda nervous now that I have published it.

Seeing everyone shitting on Wattpad users is getting old. We get it. The stuff on there isn't the best, but what else would you expect from a site full of young and barely beginning writers? The people there are usually brand new and are trying develop their skills and abilities for the first time. Cut them at least little bit of slack.

Personally, Wattpad isn't my go-to place for fanfiction, and whenever I'm on there it's rare. Still, that doesn't mean I'm going to be pretentious just because my stories are on another site. I still remember a time when I was the one writing those "cringe" fics, and while it's fine to laugh at my past self, I'd never bash on someone who's currently still at that level.

Bottom Line: The hate is unnecessary. If you don't like what's on Wattpad, then don't read fanfics from Wattpad, and if you do still make the choice to go on that site, try encouraging writers to continue developing their skills so they can become a better at fanfiction instead of shaming them when all they're doing is trying their best.

Edit: This was a comment on Wattpad writers/readers only, not the site as a whole. The layout is confusing and don't even get me started on losing a story on that site because once it's lost, that shits fucking lost man. Plus from what you guys are saying in the comments there are a ton of ads? Not on the site often enough to verify but it sounds annoying. Anyway, be nice to people. That's all I'm saying.

It’s a wholesome and not sexualized story that is about the adventure of the person toward nudism and naturism.

Explore the cuteness of the story and the funny memorable moments with the characters!!

Besides the story, some readers might get into nudism as well! Or at least introduced with it and understand the importance and the difference between Sex and nudism.

So I'm asking you, Is this a good idea?
