I had the pleasure of visiting Vieques back in 2007 and had a wonderful time. We had a lovely time renting a Jeep and exploring the quiet beaches, paddling the bio-bay tour, and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of an island not overrun with tourists. We stayed at the Martineau Bay resort at the time (I believe the name has changed since). How is the island these days? Is it still the same?
Hi! I know that you can't buy tickets online anymore for the ferry. Is it still possible to take a ferry to either Vieques or Culebra and can anyone tell me how to do so, if possible? Thank you!
Returning to Vieques Jan 8-22. Bringing my rods and looking to do some fly fishing and spin fishing, wondering if anyone has any recommendations on spots, tackle, tips tricks etc.

Heading to Vieques later this week for a 9-day vacation with my in-laws. They booked us at a hotel without a fitness center and I’m going to lose my mind if I can’t workout during this trip. Looks like the municipal gym mentioned earlier on this sub is now permanently closed and I can’t find other gyms via Google/review sites. Can anyone provide suggestions on fitness centers?
I was in Esperanza last night, and there was this long ass parade of people on horseback. It was on till pretty late and became a combination of racing, and just partying. What was that all about? It felt like of Fast and Furious had a horse sequel...
Assuming budget is not an issue, where do you get the best seafood in Vieques?
We are planning on doing the bioluminescent kayak at night and would require a place to stay the night. Our ferry is very early in the morning and so we don’t want anything fancy. Any recommendations for a cheap place to stay (no hostels) without compromising safety?

We have tickets for the 7pm ferry Thursday and plan to arrive very early. I know it’s a risk and have read about some of the potential issues but just wondered if anyone knew how it has been the past week or so. Thank you
Edit update: we had a 7pm ferry booked for today. We arrived at 4:45 because that’s how our flights and such worked out. When we arrived they ended up asking if we wanted to hop on the 5:00 ferry which we did. Rough seas so it took about 45 minutes. Very smooth process. Hopefully the return trip goes as well.
We are planning on visiting Vieques in December, but I keep coming across articles talking about rolling power outages in Puerto Rico. Is this something I should keep in mind for Vieques or not something to be concerned about?
