Why did Andrew play truant and go to London?
For such a well behaved child this was a complete 180° in his personality. From what I've read about him he seemed like the last teenager you'd expected to do something like this. This constantly leads me to the question why did he deicide to do something so dramatic; in comparison to his normal behaviour, play truant and travel to London?
For me the most plausible answer is some form of grooming.
Now going off what little evidence we have, it would suggest Andrew had limited access to the internet. If true this would make me believe the grooming took place in person; hence the lack of feasible evidence. If I was investigating this case I would be compiling a list of every adult over the last year who could have regularly communicated with Andrew in person.
After gaining his trust I'd imagine the predator deliberately got Andrew to travel alone down to London and even possibly told him to come to a specific location to help cover his tracks. After that I dread to think what happened.
I recently watched a great interview with Ian James who was an undercover Police officer specialising in paedophiles. Ian described how some predators will spend up to a year grooming a child before striking, this could be applicable to this case. Andrew struck me like the type of boy desperate for a friend of similar cognitive ability and paid the ultimate price for his misplaced trust.
I still believe this case can be solved.

Help! Our amazing nine-month-old is a tummy time truant. She's not yet crawling and, while we know every child develops at their own pace, we're concerned her avoidance of tummy time only compounds the delay. Every time we put her on her tummy, she rolls herself over and is content to hang out on her back. She's got active, kicking legs, is motivated to reach for toys, and can push herself up on her arms into a sort of upward-facing dog position -- but she quickly tires and won't stay there. We do get down on her level and play with her there. What can we do to motivate her to stay in tummy time and, ultimately, to crawl? Thanks so much!
The title says it all. What would happen if all Pokemon in the Uber tier were able to run truant on top of any pre-existing abilities they have. Would any of them be viable in lower tiers? Slaking already has Uber-tier stats but is nearly unusable in most competitive formats, I'm curious if any other Pokemon could do better than it.
As the title says, what if Truant got this buff? Where does Slaking end up? He still has to recharge after every turn, but now he can load up Giga Impact instead of Return/Retaliate/Body Slam and still switch on the recharge turn. Also, the ability would ignore Detect, King's Shield, etc. He's basically a nuke that has to switch after every attack or waste a turn, so he's risky to have as your last pokemon and can't stay in for pressure, but hits like a truck.

So slaking is one of my favorite Pokémon but the ability truant makes him a awful Pokémon competitively and make him hard to use in a in game play though. So i was thinking of a way to buff it without giving him a new ability. my thought is instead of making to where you just can’t use any move the next turn it change to where you can’t use two attacking moves in a row but you could use two status moves in a row like use curse twice then earthquake but then have to use curse or a different status move. I know why they gave him the ability but it is way to brutal with the restriction. I think with this buff the ability still slightly hinders slaking without making it unplayable.
Does anyone have a hidden ability durant . I really need it for battle maisons singles
So as we all know, Truant makes Slaking borderline unusable beyond extremely obvious and one-dimensional strats. The logic being, Slaking is naturally slow/lazy or whatever. Some moves, however, still fit this category. So:
Truant - The Pokemon lazes about on every other turn, and ignores commands that do not enable it's lazing.
Maybe not the best text description, but basically the Pokemon can use moves that count under a 'lazy' category on every other turn. It's still predictable and restricted in options, but it can still do something.
Based on Slaking's moveset, it can now use the following moves on every other turn:
Yawn
Slack Off
Amnesia
Rest
Snore ^Make ^it ^physical ^again ^GF
The following are possibilities I am slightly less certain about fitting this category:
After You
Swagger
Encore
Slack Off in particular, was the Slakoth line's signature move when they were introduced, but is barely usable in any context whatsoever due to Truant, and was my main inspiration for the idea.
Is this balanced? How much more usable is Slaking now?
My 5 year old is in kindergarten this year. Her dad moved an hour away when we broke up 3 years ago and just moved back to our town this year with his new girlfriend and her child. He still works an hour away so he has allocated school responsibilities to his girlfriend.
When report cards came out this 9 weeks it showed that our daughter had 5! Tardies! Zero of which were from me and zero of which I knew about. I contacted the school and they said the girlfriend used up all of my daughter’s excused tardies and she now has 2 unexcused. If my daughter is late one more time to school we will receive a truancy letter, two more times and our case will be sent to the state. I am TERRIFIED. We are young parents. I am 21 and in college for a degree where I know being a young parent will have me looked into more thoroughly. I am so angry that I can do everything right, yet just because they don’t have their stuff together it is more than likely going to end with a truancy officer looking into us. Has anyone else dealt with the truancy system? Has anyone dealt with it when it wasn’t their fault, and do they even care whose fault it was?
I’m just so angry and frustrated really. Nobody warns you about this part of being a mom and a coparent.
What if Slaking had a signature move that completely removes Truant? Let's call it Energy Boost for this time being.
Surely that would make Slaking overpowered on paper, but:
- It takes a turn to set up. Without it, Slaking is borderline useless.
- It takes a moveslot, and while Slaking has an awesome movepool and coverage, it can't run it all at the same time. EdgeQuake+Return would probably be the most used though.
- It doesn't stay between switch-ins, so Slaking needs to set up before doing anything useful at every switch.
- It has been 5 generations since Slaking was first released and it was heavily power creep'd since its debut. Even with Truant removed it's still susceptible to priority, it has a 100 speed tier which is good for sweepers but nothing groundbreaking these days, and the fact it needs to set up would forbid it from using choice items.
- Most of modern physical walls would still handle it well. It could carry Fire Punch to deal with Corviknight and Ferrothorn but it's a 75BP move and it would mean losing one of Earthquake/Stone Edge.
- The fact that its first move is predictable would give the opponent an opportunity to switch to a good counter or to deal with accordingly.
- It's a non-stacking buff, and if Slaking wants to keep setting up, it'd need another move that'd take another moveslot.
- How's it any different from the set up sweepers currently available? Even with all that, I'd still say Slaking would be inferior to most of standard Dragon Dancers.
Would it be enough to push Slaking to OU?

Its.. What it says on the tin. I'm constantly violently worried that I'll go to jail and lose my future because I had to give up schooling to take care of my brain damaged mother as a child. Nobody else in my life is worried about it.
The legal age to drop out with written consent is sixteen, she had the stroke when I was sixteen and I think I stopped when I was seventeen, which was the legal age to drop out in the state I reside in.
I'm worried about going to jail. I don't want to go to jail and be there forever and die because of it.
Obviously this won't work if your choice-locked, so maybe it does nothing for Slaking. Otherwise, Slaking can always choose to Slack Off on turns where it would loaf about and the move works successfully.
Does this combined with Slaking's sky-high base stats elevate it to OU?
Instead of just loafing around doing absolutely nothing, Truant now heals the user by 1/5 of their max HP. This would allow Slaking to become a viable option for stall, as gaining regenerator every other turn, combined with his already decent physical bulk will make it really hard to force him out. And with his gargantuan base attack of 160, he wouldn't be too passive either to be set up upon.

Holy moly I finally unlocked Ex Lars after countless hours of grinding. I know I am not the first to unlock him and congratulations to everyone who unlocked him before me!
Boy I must say I am surprised at what his character skill can do. In the video I did a side by side comparison with 2P vs the stage 10 Witch using the same memories and support characters. We all know one of Truant's biggest problems is that with it the opponent can easily play around you. But with there always being a chance that Slaking can attack it won't be so simple anymore. But of course this can backfire with mons with Truant going even less often than before.
Does Slaking gain any viability out of this or is it a downgrade?
I'm a first year 6th grade teacher. We have a bunch of students who are chronically truant in every class. When we asked admin what could be done about it, they basically said "What have YOU been doing about it?" Um... that's not my job? At the beginning of the year, they asked us for a list of students not attending. We gave it to them, being told they would follow up. They didn't. Now it's our fault they didn't follow up and our fault these kids aren't attending class? I have students that no teacher in the 6th grade has ever met - how is it MY JOB to get them in school???
