I read that there's proof of the ten plagues from the Exodus because of what the Ipuwar Papyrus says. Is this true?

Indeed, poor men have become owners of wealth and he who could not make sandals for himself is now a possessor or riches. Indeed, men's slaves, their hearts are sad, and magistrates do not fraternize with their people when they shout. Indeed, [hearts] are violent, pestilence is throughout the land, blood everywhere, death is not lacking, and the mummy-cloth speaks even before one comes near it. Indeed, many dead are buried in the river; the stream is a sepulcher and the place of embalmment has become a stream. Indeed, the noblemen are in distress, while the poor man is full of joy. Every town says: "Let us suppress the powerful among us." Indeed, men are like ibises. Squalor is throughout the land, and there are none indeed whose clothes are white in these times. Indeed, the land turns around as does a potter's wheel; the robber is a possessor of riches and [the riches man is become] a plunderer. Indeed, trusty servants are [. . .]; the poor man [complains]: "How terrible! What am I to do?" Indeed, the river is blood, yet men drink of it. Men shrink from human beings and thirst after water.

Outlast 2: Blake and the Ten Plagues

I played Outlast, Whistleblower, and Outlast 2 in succession for the first time recently. I adore these games! I've watched hours and hours of videos by SinglePlayerNacho and Michael Strawn about all 3 games.

However, I noticed that of the hours of videos I watched, there was no mention of what I thought was an extremely obvious Easter Egg: The ten plagues in Outlast 2. I've also done some light Googling and found no mention of it here on reddit or elsewhere.

I enjoy listening to/reading others' opinions on things like videogames, not so much coming up with content myself, so I don't really care to look into it any deeper than I already have haha, but I'd love to read all of your opinions and input!

Here are the ten plagues, and where they're located in Outlast 2:

β€’Locusts: Crossing the bridge when making your way to the syphilis camp, you get started by a swarm of locusts, which cause you to fall off the bridge.

β€’Water turns to blood: The blood rain at the end of the game

β€’Livestock pestilence: There are dead and mutilated livestock throughout the town.

β€’Boils: Those in the syphilis camp are covered in boils and otherwise diseased skin.

β€’Flies: There are a TON of flies in this game. In addition, Blake even has an animation to shoo the flies away when they're around him.

β€’Darkness: The game takes place at night, and is obviously dark because of this.

β€’Killing of firstborn children: Knoth has instructed all parents to kill their children as a display of faith.

The next three, I don't remember seeing. I was hoping someone else might remember where they are, because I'm certain that they're somewhere.

β€’Lice

β€’Frogs

β€’Hail

I'm certain I'm not the only one to notice these on my first playthrough, honestly I'm just shocked at the fact that no one has discussed this online. Please let me know what you think!

Thanks for reading this wall of text!

The Gyre and the Ten Plagues of Egypt

Disclaimer: This is not a profound discovery. This is just a little bit of trivia. And sorry for the shitty formatting and organization of ideas. Blame sleep deprivation and me hiding from my parents this late at night.

If you've read the Bible, heard stories about it or watched the Prince of Egypt, you probably know about the Ten Plagues of Egypt. It is God's wrath embodied, made to force the Pharaoh of Egypt to free the Israelites from slavery. These plagues came not as one, but in ten iterations. Qud also has a plague of its own, which is called the Gyre. It was cast upon Qud by star beings during the last days of the Sultanate as punishment for the misdeeds of then-Sultan Resheph's predecessors. After the release of the Palladium Reef beta, I realized a link between the Gyre and the biblical plagues themselves.

First, let us list the Ten Plagues in order:

  1. Water turning into blood
  2. Frogs
  3. Lice
  4. Wild animals and flies
  5. Pestilence of animals
  6. Boils
  7. Thunder and hail
  8. Locusts
  9. Three days of darkness
  10. Death of firstborn children

Now that we have the ten plagues in order, let us list the Gyre's afflictions in order as well (via Resheph's histories): Triad One

  1. Water poisoned with salt
  2. Girshlings ravaged the fruit and wheat
  3. Glotrot Triad Two
  4. Ironshank
  5. Darkness bloomed from the earth
  6. Svardym blackened the sky The Final Plague
  7. Girsh Nephilim eating Qud's young

Unlike the Ten Plagues coming in ten types of plague, the Gyre came in two triads with one final plague to top it all off. However, both seem to have similar stories:

  1. Water being tainted with salt, and water turning into blood. You can't drink salt water and blood.

  2. The Girshlings, locusts and wild animals. Girshlings are noted by NPCs like Mehmet to be pests of the watervine farms. Locusts are also pests, capable of devastating entire farmlands when they swarm. The story of the plague of wild animals is similar as well, creatures with the intent of harming people and livestock.

  3. Glotrot and the boils. Both diseases, both debilitating.

  4. Ironshank and the boils as well. Can't seem to find a link between ironshank and a different plague, so I'm relating it to the boils.

  5. Darkness blooming from the earth. Now this is difficult as it "blooms" from the earth and not from the sky. Could it be vanta flowers? Whatever it may be, this one seems to be derived from the 3 days of darkness in the original Ten Plagues.

  6. Svardym, frogs, thunder/hai

In honor of fundies holding "Passover Seders", I want to share my family's Passover tradition: The Modern Ten Plagues

So my family usually has a "traditional" seder the first night, and the second night we cut loose and get a lot more irreverent. One of the best traditions is when my dad started listing what he saw as the "Modern Ten Plagues", which would just be a list of things that annoyed him in the past year. One year he included Tang, the orange drink, just to confuse everyone, for example.

In honor of that and the fundies holding Seders this weekend, I say we make our own "Fundie 10 Plagues"...here are mine.

  1. Youtube Q&As

  2. Plexus

  3. Magnetic Eyelashes

  4. Seasons of life.

  5. Instagram #ads

  6. The KJV bible. (that's the one all the fundies use right?)

  7. JRod's unfed children.

  8. The poor Collins kids names.

  9. Courtin'.

  10. Every time you open Reddit to catch up on the news and someone posted a screenshot of JRod mid-rant.

Somebody should make Hollow Knight Ten Plagues amv/map (multi animator project).

I'm not sure if a post like this is allowed so feel free to delete if it is.

Ten Plagues from Prince of Egypt would make a banger hollow knight amv/map.

There are a lot of warrior cats and wings of fire maps/amvs out there but no hollow knight ones (as far as I know) and Ten Plagues suits its so well. If you don't know what a map/amv or Ten Plagues is just search it up on youtube.

Unfortunately I lack the experience to host such a map/amv so I'm just gonna put it out here so that some talented animator/artist can pick it up.

I think an amv would be best for such a project since you can fit more detail and not everybody can animate.

Just putting my idea out there! Also I don't know what flair to put.

A Study of the Ten Plagues of Egypt

Imagine being the young firstborn son of an Egyptian who died from an angel of death in the Old Testament. You speak to God. You ask him why you died.

He says, "Because the Pharaoh refused to free the Hebrews".

Then the child says, "But I'm not the Pharaoh."

God declares, "You were born an Egyptian, and you did not do anything to free the Hebrews."

The boy asks, "Why did the Pharaoh refuse to free the Hebrews?"

God replies, "Because I hardened his heart."

The boy wonders, "I was but a child, and your Hebrews are now owning their own slaves. I am not the one who chose to be born Egyptian. You made me Egyptian. You killed me. Why did you kill me then?"

God only smiles, "It was my will."
