A list of puns related to "Tape Recorder"
It sure did send George over the edge!
**TRANSCRIPTION #457 β BEAT-UP RECORDER. **
TRANSCRIBERβS NOTES:
Hey so, I donβt know whose account this is, but if you want me to post what I found I donβt give a shit. Some fucker in a suit paid me to analyze the soundwaves on some beat-up recorder. Turns out the waveforms roughly correlated to binary and therefore into language. A week later Iβd translated the whole thing. Weird as hell. Grammar's mine. Fucker in the suit never showed up with my money, so yeah, Iβll post it here. Maybe others can get something from it.
TRANSCRIPTION BEGINS:
We heard him from the moment he stepped out of his door and into his truck. From the confines of his shitty home he thought modernity could cast us out, but outside his tools were fewer.
The man's son feared the dark. No matter the time of day the man's house was lit up like a firework display, each room beaming out at us with a fiery grin. Other houses would succumb and find us eventually, but not the man's house.
The man worked nights and left his son swamped in the rays. The greatest pleasure is in the conquering of the greatest prey. We had followed the man as he drove around the city for years now. He would set out after midnight and search for a cell tower in need of repairs. Throughout the night he'd climb the tower with a headlamp atop his head, make the necessary repairs under the soft glow of safety lights, then descend to the terrible gaze of his truck's headlights.
There was a tremendous sense of guilt in the man for leaving his son at home by himself. He brought a tape recorder with him and chatted into it to make objects of comfort for his son. Usually it was inane, truly it was a diary of sorts, one that his son could play at night if he ever missed his father.
Perhaps, we wondered, the man salves his guilt by keeping the lights on and by recording the tapes. It is more for his benefit than his son's. After all, the man need only leave the lights on in his son's room and let the rest of his home succumb, but night after night we watched a house without a single darkened room. There is no reason he should talk into the tapes, yet that never stops him.
As the nights grew darker, our desperation to snatch a greater prey grew greater than our instinct to hide. We were never sure whether it was the son or the father that we desired most. Perhaps it was neither, but what their bond represented.
They had wound their clocks back and the dusk stole hours of the day from them. Soon the lights

When I was a kid (early 2000s) I found a $5 Sony tape recorder at a thrift store. It was very compact, had two speakers on the front, an FM radio (which could be recorded to tape), stereo recording, auto-reverse, and half-speed. It ran on two AA batteries and lasted me until at least 2012 even though it was in rough shape when I got it. The only complaint I remember having is that there was a lot of noise in the background when listening to tapes, and since it had a digital radio I'm assuming it was newer and thus probably made with cheaper components.
I don't need that exact model but I'd love to find something like it. I have nothing portable anymore, which is just sad, and other than cheapness, (which didn't seem to affect its lifespan,) it checked all of the boxes. I don't have a lot of money to spend on more expensive older models, so something cheap and modern is probably all I'm going to have for a while.
I am looking to borrow or rent a reel-to-reel 1/4" tape recorder when I get back into town next week.
Any ideas? I found an old tape that I think is the only extant recording of my grandfather and my great-grandmother from the 1950s. I'd like to digitize it.
I want to send stereo audio to a tape machine, and record what comes back from it (also stereo). My tape machine has 3 heads, and I've set the monitoring to be from the tape. However, I keep getting echo.
I only have 2 channels on my interface. Can I do what I want with only 2 channels?
Here's more info about the announement, but does anyone have insight into if/how these are different from standard Type II tapes?

I was wondering does here anyone know what kind of 4-track tape recorders producers used in memphis? I know they used tascam portastudios but what portastudios and were there other popular 4-track recorders?
Anyone know a thrift shop that sells broken electronics? Need some cheap props but they donβt need to be in working condition
Found one at goodwill this morning, swapped out the old belts and itβs engaging the stop function every 7 of 8 rotations. When I try and play a cassette the tape just spools up and stops. I will put a link to the video of it in the comments
Hey all,
I realize this is very much not the kinda post I usually see here, but I didnβt really know where else to go.
Basically I find myself frequently using plugins to try to emulate the sort of βwobblyβ lo fi sound that groups like Boards of Canada and Black Moth Super Rainbow get.
After many years I am realizing I need to actually invest in some hardware in order to achieve something like this as well as get some more analogue unpredictability in what I do.
Do you know what I should get that wonβt break my bank and would be relatively easy to use with a daw?
Thanks!
So I've been wanting to get a Tascam 4 track for some time now and it just dawned on me today that I don't know how I would go about using a condenser mic with the recorder because I'm almost certain that there is no phantom power on them. My guess would be getting a mic preamp in order to use a condenser mic. Is that wrong and if not are there other alternatives to this?
Hey everyone! I just got this magnetic tape data recorder and thought I might share it with you. It might had been used by the physics (?) department of the local university for documenting and storing experiments data. It's ironically called a "portable" data recorder, but it's hard to carry even with two people.
It features 14 tracks, each of them with a single in- and output, can handle different tape lengths (1/2 inch tape, 1.27cm) of 550m and 700m and can playback data at several speeds (1.2, 2.4, 4.8, 9.5, 19, 38, 76, 152 cm/s). In addition to that, there's a monitor out (combined output?), phone out, a mic input, an embedded loudspeaker and a channel selector (whatever this does).
The microphone jack is most certainly a cb radio cobra input used in hobby radios, where the lower right pin is the audio channel, upper right ground and the two pins on the left responsible for transmit and receive signals (whatever that means in this context). I'm not really familiar with radio stuff and jacks, so if anyone could help me out where to look for fitting plugs so I can build like a breakout board for these (would rather leave the jacks as they are), I'd be very glad! Especially the input jacks are interesting, as there might be a lot of different sizes β or are they standardized?
Apart from that, I absolutely haven't found any information on this device on the internet. If you know something, just let me know.
Unfortunately, the pinch wheels have become greasy over the years, so I'm looking for an alternative for these. I couldn't make this device work so far, but this might be due to the greasy pinch rollers, which even made some of the the tape a little bit sticky. However, the rest seems to work so far.
Removed safety brackets and tape wheel.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I think the red tape recorder should have a cloak bonus and give cloak while sapping or it should take ammo or metal from buildings. Another idea is if the sapper is removed from a teleporter the side it wasn't removed from would keep going down until level 1 or it could be faster based on how long its been on.
Hey everyone, a few months back I made a post like this, but without the big question, If anyone brought their tape recorder to the concert. I know a lot of you would probably say βI didnβt bring a tape recorderβ but for those few who did, I would love to hear your stories!
