I offer my record up as a point of comparison for anyone looking for an example of how choppy portfolio performance actually is relative to the mythical "7% pa". Each year was wholly unpredictable.
I have 33% Fixed income, the rest a rag-bag of international and UK equities.
When I FIREd in 2019 I had barely hit my Number, so was vulnerable to sequence-of-returns risk. Rising markets have provided some buffer. At least for now. Ahead is the end of Central Bank Money Printing, sky high market P/E crash risk, and dodgy geopolitics (Ukraine, Taiwan). Possibly. I wasn't expecting COVID so no crystal ball here.
I'd have done much better just to have stuck it all in the S&P500 on day 1. But there you go.

EDIT: I have had a few DMs to ask me what to do: here are my rules of thumb.-
Get a low cost platform (e.g. AJBell), and low cost ETFs (e.g. Vanguard). Don't bother with individual equities. Really, don't bother. If I had to pick a single ETF, VWRP - all world accumulating.
Don't market time, switch, or sell during crashes. Just keep on investing regularly. If you have the stock selection itch channel it into which ETF your next contribution goes to.
Use tax efficient accounts: Max employer pension match, then a SIPP (esp if a higher rate taxpayer). Next, your ISA. (YMMV on what is tax efficient for you - look at the sub flowchart )
Have a target minimum FIRE income and work to that being the Safe Withdrawal Rate of your capital, e.g. 4%. The years go by quickly, having a specific goal makes it much much easier, sacrifices reframe themselves as steps to freedom. It's good to be in control.
Free tools make it simple to see where the money goes and track net worth: I recommend the FT Portfolio Tracker, and MoneyDashboard.
More generally: The entire world is continually trying to sell you stuff you don't need. Resist. Don't confuse price and value. Take a 1wk cooloff before buying more stuff. Lastly, family time is irrecoverable - make time for your kids and make it quality time.
Is there any way to shorten the trigger pull on a stormer? Id lovento have a shorter trigger pull on it. Or are there any upgrades to make the trigger a two finger trigger? I know there isnt a full auto kit for it (although id love to see one) but id like to try and make it easier to shoot faster

Does this say anything about the Mises institute? Or is it super cool that everyone's favorite Mises Institute is linking explicitly neo-nazi content?

New to this world and recently bought a .68 cal Stormer. I'd like to use the small 12g CO2 cartridges for it. I purchased the following, thinking it would do it, but no go.

So getting back into paintball after 14 years and after looking for a new marker I am considering the stormer elite. Partly because I ran with a A5 when I played before and Tippmann seems to still be a reliable brand, and partly because of its ability to use both mag and hopper feeds. My question is, how easy is it to swap between them? Like if I have some mags full of first strike rounds and I want to do some sniping can I just pop off the hopper, clear the chamber, and put in a mag or is this the kind of thing I would have to sit down with tools to swap out?
Hello everyone, I am fairly new to paintball and recently got a tippmann stormer basic. When I purchased the gun, I wasn’t thinking about mod-ability at all. Now that I caught the paintball bug, I want to do so modification to the gun such as hair trigger/ double trigger/ anything that will improve performance. I haven’t been able to really find anything to modify the stormer with. Is there really no mods for this marker?
