Stopsign's games are here =D
Hi all, been posting here a bit. Iβm newer to maintenance and I am only able to get the big Orange stopsign pills. Iβm trying to figure out the best/easiest way to take them. I tried in the cheek this morning but it lasted over an hour even with breaking it up. I thought about crushing and trying the powder but that takes away the easy part. Any advice?
So this is a 'Yes I work here, just not what you think.' First off, I'm (f34) a school crossing guard. You know the look, I have the bright yellow vest and big, red sign. Even better, I won a matching yellow reflective hat when I embarrassed myself during my first training demo, thus I am all kitted out. So just remember, that the key color here is yellow. Now recently some big cellular company started installing fiber optics beneath the ground near our school. And by near, I mean drilling and destroying the sidewalks. Like the ones I cross at. Like literally am posted on, having to dance around cones and not fall into holes. Jo. So naturally there are lots of reflective cones, blocked off areas, and most importantly, big dudes in ORANGE vests and hard hats. Anyways, it's a hot mess. The kids are confused, the parents are irate, and I'm running my butt off, but we're getting through it. The Rush was hectic but we found our rhythm and the crowds start to thin. Then this one Karen parks in the bike lane and halfway in one of my crosswalks and right where the dude's are digging up the sidewalk. Ie, the worst place possible. Thinking she's just a mom trying to pick up her kids (not the way to do it) I rushed over hoping my eyes looked friendly because my smile was hidden behind my mask.
Me: Afternoon, ma'am! I'm afraid I have to ask you... Karen: You are seriously bad at your job! Me: Stops short Um, come again, ma'am? Karen: I've been watching you and you are doing it wrong! People could get hit because of you!
I'm beginning to panic because I am very alert but maybe I'm off my game? I start reviewing the few minutes that had passed, wondering if I made any big mistakes. I've been covering my three corners fine, I let cars go fine, and managed watching cars go into a turning lane that was now used for incoming traffic without anyone dying but I'm not allowed to direct traffic, so I am thoroughly confused.
Me: I'm so sorry but could you elabor... Karen: I don't want excuses, I want you to do your job! You're supposed to let a certain amount of cars go at a time! And you're not even trying to keep the kids off the road! Me: ummm
Then I see my late stragglers approach and by this time I just wanted to ignore the lady that isn't making any sense. So I begin moving away so I can cross my kids. And this Karen, this scrawny, beanpole of a lady, grabs my sign. Or tries to take it but my sign is my baby. No one grabs my sign!
Me: Whoa ma'am! Karen: I'll direc

Anyone else finding themselves crossing their fingers driving through intersections in Oregon? I was driving through one and a truck pulled out right infront of me resulting in a pretty sizeable crash(was doing 45mph at impact). At first I thought "I must have missed the stop sign!!" so I looked back, nope. No stop sign. Then I started slowing down for every intersection and the vast majority of them don't have stop signs in any directions. How are you to know if you should be stopping?
My 325ci that I've had for a few years just got annihilated by a stopsign runner yesterday. The damage is mostly around the passenger rear quarter panel, and is totally fine functionally, but the passenger side is completely busted and the quoted cost to repair it is well over the value of the car. I'm not too keen on continuing with it - it just looks awful, and I'm expecting my insurance to consider it totaled given the repair estimate, so here I am.
I'm considering upgrading to an e46 M3. My car had the sport package and was just all-around fun, and I really enjoyed taking it up and around windy roads and whatnot, so I'm thinking an e46 M3 might be a good direction after this. I just love the generation. The higher maintenance of my e46 was manageable for me, and I was/am willing to do necessary updates.
With that said, I'm wondering just what I should be looking for and expect in an M3 at this point. In my research, I've heard various things about maintenance, some of which are probably now dated in the year 2020. And to be honest, I don't trust my sense with these things, as this will be only my second car I've ever purchased.
So I guess what I'm asking here is, what should I watch out for? What price range can I find a decent M3 in? I've heard that $10k-$20k is a good range, but is that still true now? And again, I'm pretty okay with the maintenance costs of e46s - I did own one for a few years and now I want another! A couple thousand a year would be okay with me (it has been haha). Should I trust the automatic SMGs? Or if it fails, will it be catastrophic (i.e. I'd be fine swapping to manual if it goes south at some point, but if it blows then write the car off)? Are the other concerns similar (e.g. VANOS, rods, etc.)? I'm thinking the subframe issues would need an immediate fix after purchase, but is there anything to know outside of that? How many miles would it take to be just not worth it (assuming it's even decently maintained)? How much should I focus on a lower mileage car?
Sorry for the wall of text. I'm still continuing to do my research, so I may find answers soon, though it is a little tough with the dated advice I've found. Thanks and godspeed to everyone who's read to this point. I'm super excited to stay in the e46 family, and while the loss of my current daily driver is bitter, perhaps my next steps will be pretty sweet.
I pulled out my phone while driving on a 50km/h road and completely ran a stop sign, didnβt even slow down or anything. Luckily no one was around, I was probably driving 60km/h through it and had someone had been crossing and I hit them they probably would have died or seriously injured. I feel terrible and will never text and drive again. Just knowing that I could have killed someone makes me feeling awful.
When are two words combined (eg, stovetop, backseat, etc)? Seems people generally refer to the same thing when they hear "stop sign", so that combination of words should have a special status as one concept, but people do not generally refer to the same thing when they hear "large sign" or "metal sign". What does it take for two words to become one?
There is a stop sign near my subdivision that everyone and their mothers run. I guess people are red colorblind. There is also a marked crosswalk with heavy foot traffic from runners, walkers, bikers, etc. Running that stop sign can cause serious injury to someone. I flip off everyone that runs the stop sign. Yesterday on my run a police officer flat out ran the stop sign as I was crossing the street. The asshole part comes when I saw him pull into the school near my house. I walked up near where he parked and flipped him off. He got out his car and asked me why I would flip him off. Long story short his said sorry.
