A list of puns related to "Song Of Solomon"
Does anyone know how Song of Solomon is a coming of age story? Milkman doesn't seem to learn anything of value or grow as a person.
Thoughts?
The verse reference today is:
My vineyard, which is mine, is before me: thou, O Solomon, must have a thousand, and those that keep the fruit thereof two hundred.
which can be found in the 8th chapter ofΒ Songs of SolomonΒ inΒ the Holy Bible.
and also in the New International Version (NIV)
But my own vineyard is mine to give;
the thousand shekels are for you, Solomon,
and two hundredΒ are for those who tend its fruit.
What this means for us in the church:
We are the vineyard that God has set apart to bear good fruit.
Though God owns it all and created the whole world, a portion of His property was set aside to be fruitful and multiply. We are called to do this from the very beginning, as mankind is meant to subdue the earth..Β to go forth and multiply.
The analogy of the vineyard is the phenomena of a seed dying to itself to bear fruit. It is the main purpose of the church to die to itself internally, and to be the fruit of the earth.
When we come together as the church, we are owed to God as a return on His investment, to bless back to Him what He deposited in us as His kingdom here on earth. Whatever we're worth on the market, we give that muchΒ or moreΒ back to the King of the Kingdom that affords us citizenship into heaven.
As a church, representing the body of Christ, we give ourΒ firstfruits of the vineyardΒ to God before we utilize anything we gain as being our own to leverage in this life. It is because of Him that we even have the ability to bear fruit. He gave us the soil and the sun, the earth and the heavens, and it's the life we speak into each other that waters it all to make it grow. He made man not to be alone.. rather,Β we are a living, breathing church.
And so we live and breathe in Him, which means we give all to Him for blessing. As we set the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts on making sure God is rewarded for blessing us, we tap into abundance and overflow which allows us to provide for those who work the gospel and tend the soil so that there may be plenty for all to eat..
to taste and see that God is good.
What this means for us in the world:
Let us exemplify what we see in God's nature and be a cheerful giver.
As we see that God had it all and chose to disperse the power of His love into us, even to the point of giving us free will to live on our own, let us attempt to do the same as we care for the well-being and livelihood of others, for their sake above our own.
What I mean is that, if all we've got is our last..

... keep reading on reddit β‘I've just finished reading Song of Solomon, and I know that names play a significant role in Morrison's book. I also know that there are numerous Biblical references, such as Pontius Pilate and First Corinthians. So, why does Morrison title her book a book from the Bible? Why does she take names from the Bible?
