I think itβs a good idea to list all of the newly reformulated sunscreens of the failed Korean sunscreens. The new formulas look promising and many of the brands are being extra careful this time with independent testing, so we can be 100% confident that these sunscreens are the labeled SPF. I will list the sunscreens that I have came across that have been reformulated. If I missed any, leave them in the comments below.
1.) Round Lab Birch Juice Sun Cream
You know how when you work with tomato plants at the end of the day your hands look like you slapped the green from Shrek's face. So what is that stuff made off and what is its purpose? I think it is used as a natural repellent of some sort against predatory insects or other pathogens. But not sure what it is made of.
Edit : Maybe I should specify I want know some good scientific information about it. Like what compounds are inside it and why for example others in the Solanum genus like S. Tuberosum and S. Melongena don't have this stuff. And does it have an scientific name?
Hello! So beplain initially caught my attention as Iβve heard the brand was made based on customer feedback in Korea. The ingredients list for these products are relatively simple so there was little worry for breakouts. It definitely did not disappoint!
A little background: I live in a humid country with dehydrated, combination, acne-prone skin. My main concerns with my skin right now is CCs, calming and hydrating.
Greenful pH-Balanced Cleansing Foam 4.5/5 MRP
Glycerin, Mung Bean Extract, Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate, Lauryl Betaine, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Hydroxypropyl Starch Phosphate, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Phaseolus Radiatus Seed Powder, Dextrin, Allantoin, Water, Ceramide NP, Green Tea Powder, Ethylhexylglycerin
Compared to all cleansers Iβve used so far, this was probably one of the best. Itβs a pretty light green with a thick paste texture, and has small bits of what seems to be mung bean. In my opinion, you can smell mung bean, just slightly, but I didnβt mind it at all as it reminds me of those asian dessert places haha. The cleanser itself foams, but for me it wasnβt stripping at all. The cleanser contains lots of extracts which could be good for the skin, but honestly since itβs a wash-off product, I couldnt feel any of the benefits :β) The downside would be the price. In my country, it is sold for $12 for 80ml, which is more expensive than any other cleansers Iβve ever used :(
Chamomile pH-Balanced Toner 3.5/5 WNRP
Chamomile Flower Extract (80.65%), Propanediol, Methylpropanediol, Glycerin, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Trehalose, Centella Asiatica Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Phellodendron Amurense Bark Extract, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Betaine, Butylene Glycol, Allantoin, Cellulose Gum, Disodium EDTA, Ceramide-NP, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin
Okay so this was a 3.5 for me, just because of my skin type and the weather in my country. For oily-combo skin in humid

Quick pics comparing my previous HG sunscreen (the Apieu Soo Boo Ji) to my new HG sunscreen (the Espoir Water Splash Sun Cream Fresh):
Apieu Soo Boo Ji Sun Cotton (Left) vs ESPOIR Water Splash Sun Cream Fresh version (Right)
Greetings fellow AB-ers!!
Am highly excited to share this post with our community, because I feel like I have finally found a sunscreen that is excels in terms of ingredients as well as performance.
I struggled with cultivating the habit of putting sunscreen everyday for many years, because I just felt they were heavy on the skin, and constantly giving my oily skin new breakouts. Why on earth would I put something on my face to protect against invisible rays when it gave me such visible breakouts?
Then I finally found a holy grail, which was the A'pieu Soo Boo Ji Sun Cotton Sunscreen. I raved about it in a lengthy Reddit post almost a year ago https://bit.ly/2Okz0uR, and it really helped me to cultivate the good habit of wearing sunscreen everyday. To my dismay, they have decided to discontinue this product. I have 1 last tube left. However, I also noted that the Soo Boo Ji actually has ~4 silicones/silicone crosspolymers, which my skin has become extremely sensitive to as of late (silicones are potentially comedogenic and pore-clogging). Hence, I realised I would still get some angry bumps if I left the Soo Boo Ji on my face the whole day at work. I recently switched out all my moisturisers for silicone-free ones, because the issue was getting worse and worse.
I began a desperate search for a new holy grail sunscreen, but it seemed futile because I always do a check of the ingredients beforehand, and most sunscreens have ingredients that are less than desirable in their formulations.
Thankfully, a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon SooBeauty's Youtube review on the latest ESPOIR Water Splash Sun Cream Fresh SPF50+ PA++++. It is quite a new product at the time of writing this (14 July 2020), hence there are not many reviews out there, but some other Korean beauty Youtubers have reviewed it on their channels as well!
Farmacy Green Clean
I...totally...get...it...nowβ¦
The hype around the Farmacy Green Clean is ever-present.. I really feel like no other product has popped up on my social media feeds more than this item (aside from this summerβs cleansing balm obsession from Glow Recipe).
I ended up taking this product a lot more seriously once I began seeing it pop up in some of my favorite Korean YouTube Channels. So, Green Clean ended up finding its way into my routine over the past month and Iβm so happy it did!
Featuring papaya, moringa, eggplant, and turmeric extracts...this super lightweight and creamy balm just melts into skin and provides the perfect amount of slide/glice to remove makeup and impurities.
Sunflower oil makes its way intoΒ the formulation to add some nourishment and softness to the skin after rinsing. And that rinse, itβs awesome. The Farmacy Green Clean emulsifies and rinses better than any other cleansing balm I have used this year...all without making my skin dry/tight.
The addition of several citrus based essential oils creates a key lime pie/lemon-lime soda scent that I love. And although I havenβt had any negative reaction to them...I certainly proceeded with caution as my skin hasnβt been appreciating these types of fragrant oils recently.
This really is an awesome cleansing balm and I see why so many people proclaim their love of it. Iβm right there with them and this product has easily become a top pick for this year.
Personally, Iβm looking forward to trying the limited edition Very Cherry Clean as it omits the essential oils and has an equally lovely cherry/vanilla scent.
Have you gotten to try the Farmacy Green Clean...what are your thoughts?

UPDATE 8/20/20: Iβm adding a new balm Iβve recently tried (at the bottom of the list). If anyone has tried balms that youβd like to review in the format used, please post them below!!!
Ok, Iβve been (still am) on a mission to try and review all of the best/most popular cleansing balms in an effort to find the very very best one. Iβve tried nearly all of the most popular ones now. I searched everywhere for a comprehensive review of all of these and couldnβt find much so Iβm hoping this will be a helpful resource to others who might be looking too. I welcome any input!!
Backstory: I had been using The Body Shopβs Camomile balm since way before cleansing balms went mainstream, for probably a decade at least. I never knew there were other options until I was given a sample of Farmacy Green Clean and thatβs what started me down this path - I wanted to see what the best option truly is! I liked my Camomile but could there be a better balm out there waiting for me??!
As always, YMMV but below are my results! All prices are in Canadian dollars and I have not researched pricing or availability in other countries.
As for what I actually use it for - I donβt wear a full face of makeup every single day but I do always wear a tinted sunscreen and mascara at a minimum, usually with a light powder foundation, blush and brow gel as well. Iβve tried every balm below on little to no makeup up to a full face of special occasion makeup.
A note about ingredients - Iβve copied ingredient lists below from the brands websites. It was important to me to evaluate which ones have polyethylene (plastic) as well as essential oils.
I would LOVE to hear your thoughts on those below or any other options I havenβt tried yet!
TL;DR FINAL VERDICT: for a really good clean and soft face, Drunk Elephantβs Slaii is probably the best value in terms of value, packaging, ingredients, etc. I think this will continue to be my go to in the super dry winter months (especially since I tend to wear a bit thicker makeup in the winter), but to be honest, I think I will probably continue use my trusty Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter in the summers.

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So far nobody has given me a straight answer
I am currently in the hospital. I had a back operation yesterday. The surgical nurse came in my room and started asking questions about my back. She asked me if I had any falls during the last year. I responded just one. It was after summer.
She laughed and said in 20 years of doing this she never was told that joke.
..... Will get a reward.
Because they work on many levels
Well, toucan play at that game.
So... I may or may not have been keeping a weather eye on upcoming SPF releases ever since Director Ahn In-Sook mentioned in passing in a video that many cosmeceutical brands have either put a stopper on releasing new sunscreens or postponed the release of those awaiting completion to better the formula and ensure they're up to snuff, thus there will be a slew of SPF releases come March. Heaven forfend we suffer the wrath of deadly solar lasers cuz finding The One is nothing short of a bluidy struggle.
What I've noted in these new releases was a combination of robust formulas and new filters. Exciting! I've already translated the INCI lists and entered them into Incidecoder & Cosdna. Okay, enuff intro. Have a look-see at some of the freshest sun armours to keep safe from baneful UV rays.

I saw that the Herbivore Bakuchiol came back in stock, so I decided to order some. However, the ingredients don't list bakuchiol. Is there another name for it possibly? Here's the ingredient list:

Anyone see bakuchiol on there?
Since Apieu discontinued this product, I did a new review for my latest holy-grail that replaces the Soo Boo Ji, the ESPOIR Fresh Water Splash Sun Cream - link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/hr1rx1/sunscreen_review_oily_skin_hot_and_humid_climate/
Ingredients list for the new ESPOIR Fresh Water Splash Sun Cream (I emailed Espoir personally to ask for the ingredients list since I could not find it on their English website):

Unfortunately, it seems like A'pieu has decided to discontinue this product. I can't seem to find it on their official Korean website and it seems to be sold out everywhere else. :(
Thankfully, SooBeauty recently recommended the Espoir FRESH Water Splash Sun Cream on her Youtube channel. The ingredients list is EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE than the Apieu Soo Boo Ji Sun Cotton, thank God! I just received it in the mail a few days ago. Will be testing it out, and will write a review in due time.
