A list of puns related to "Skincare"
I've (F17) been babysitting these kids (5f 6f and 8m) every day for almost a year. I'm not sure what their mom does but she works with a lot of high end hair/makeup/skincare companies and gets a lot of free stuff. She sometimes comes home with bags of products and tells me to take whatever I want. Needless to say, I have a decently sized collection of high end products that I used to have on display on my vanity.
My sisters (5, 6, 11, 13, 14, 18) have a habit of breaking into my stuff, especially my makeup, but also things like my shampoo and conditioner (my boss gets me nice ones at a discount), perfumes, lotions, etc. because I use nicer things than them. I told them to stop taking my stuff but they wouldn't because "sisters share" so one of my brothers (24) came over and helped me put shelves in my closet and I bought lock boxes for all of my stuff. My sisters are mad at me because they can't use my stuff anymore and my mom and stepdad want me to let them use my stuff to keep the peace.
My brother is on my side and he's offering to let me move in with him and his gf and their son (6 mo) and I'm considering it but I wanted to know if I was the asshole.
Edit: Please stop commenting on the claires makeup and ear piercing for the 5 and 6 year olds.
Edit 2: Please stop saying my brother's only offering for me to live with him so I can turn into a free babysitter. We already talked about it and I won't be his babysitter, he just wants to help me.
mine are:
-give up alcohol
-give up sugar
-give up wheat (idk if that would even work for me but prob)
-reapply sunscreen every 2h (sorry Ik I should and I would if I were outdoors constantly in the blazing heat, but not when I'm indoors in front of the window :/ praise be to dr dray etc but still)
EDIT: sorry, but the sheer amount of people who said their skin/health would be a lot better without dairy, but that they'd die without it/couldn't live without it...that's genuinely sad. dairy is the result of female cows being tortured and their babies taken away and murdered or put into the same hell they exist in. you wouldn't die without cheese. try a non-dairy version you maniacs
(plus, if it helps, dairy cheese has blood and pus from the cows' nipples in it...not very appetising)
Hello,
I am a single father so I am not too familiar with skin stuff so if anyone also has any tips feel free to share. When my daughter turned 13 she got into makeup and bought lots of it. Recently my friends wife recommended me to take my daughter to a dermatologist because she thought the skincare routine I have researched for and bought her might not be enough. I took her to see a dermatologist and she told me the routine I have for her is perfect since itβs working for her but my daughter and the friends wife claim itβs not good enough and I shouldnβt use βcheap sh*tβ on her face. I told both of them Iβll take the opinion of the professional over theirs and shut down the conversation with my daughter. For reference my daughter has dry skin, no acne. Here is her routine:
Cerave hydrating cream to foam cleanser Cerave Moisturizing lotion cerave eye repair cream sun bum lip balm with spf elta md sunscreen.
AITA?
I used to read studies, get really deep into the biology and chemistry and I used to look for the perfect toner for hyperpigmentation, the perfect cream for this, the best formulated sunscreen. I literally don't give a fuck anymore lmao. If my skin isn't breaking out, I'll finish it up. More than a few steps is a drag. I don't care about brands and packaging in particular, just look at their formulas and if I like it, I buy. There's nothing fun about this, I'm just paranoid about aging so I'm diligent about my few steps. Plus I've found that exercising, my silk pillowcase and losing weight has been really helping anyway so I invest more energy into that and reap the benefits on my face lmao.
So I recently switched to a new shampoo for colored hair since I just dyed it blue. My mom said she liked the smell and she started using it. The problem is, it's not a big bottle, and she uses a lot for her long hair. (I have short hair). I asked her if she could please stop using it and she said that she really likes it, so I asked if she could buy her own bottle and she said no. Ok. She buys the shampoo so I'm not too mad about it, just annoyed. But yesterday, I notice a large amount of my medicated acne face wash is gone. I asked her if she used it and she said yes, she wanted to see how it felt, along with my face scrub and moisturizer. I asked her to please not use it since she doesn't have acne, and she said she can use it if she wants since she's my mother. This is when I got mad. She didn't buy the skincare products, my dad did (parents are split up). I didn't say anything, but this morning I took all of my shower stuff and put it in a bin in my room. Now she keeps asking me about it, and I just told her that I don't want her to use it. AITA?
Edit: Wow, I wasn't expecting to get this many comments on my first post here lol. To clarify a few things: yes, I get that she buys the shampoo, but the reason I don't like her using it is because I can last several months on one bottle of shampoo. She uses it up in 2-3 weeks. I wouldn't mind as much if she replaced it after, but I have to ask her several times before she replaces it. It's the same with the face wash. It's a small bottle, and she used like 1/8 of the bottle in one go. Also, for those confused: my mom bought the shampoo and my dad bought the skincare stuff.
Edit 2: thank you for the hugz! I seriously was not expecting this to blow up this much
I generally don't spend a ton on skincare but I'm curious: what's a spendy product you consider nonetheless worth it?
I recently came accross a comment on the r/tretinoin subreddit that annoyed me a lot. The person talked about how their mom and aunt purposefully omit their tretinoin usage when other people ask them about what they do for their skin. Basically lying by omission. They will talk about other products, but not about this one product that probably does the most besides spf.
This type of competitive, unsupporting and purposefully dishonest attitude is incredibly toxic. And the comment was upvoted.
The nice thing to do would be so simple, inform the asker about tretinoin, inform them about the potential hurdles of using it... that's it. We should help and uplift one another, not mislead and drag others down to make ourselves feel better.
Ew. Smells like insecurity in here.
(I've already made a circlejerk post about this, but I kinda wanted to say it here too.)
I posted a negative comment under Trendmoodβs recent post on Instagram about Kylie Skinβs new makeup melting cream. This comment got over 150 likes. I got a couple comment notifications overnight and wanted to read them, but I couldnβt get to my comment and those notifications disappeared from Instagram.
I noticed a couple more top comments that were negative were also deleted. Is Trendmood known for deleting negative comments? Is she getting paid by Kylie so sheβs trying to save face? Thoughts?
Your place to talk about anything fitness shopping and style. Whether you want to ask where to buy the best gym leggings or most supportive sports bra, which shoes or belt to get for your favorite activities, the latest on headsets and sports watches, how many times you should wash your hair when you're working out lots, how to deal with body odor, any skincare questions, or how to stop your makeup running when you sweat through a spin class. This thread can include photos of you in your favorite fitness outfits, or requests to find the perfect app, playlist, or fitness technology so you can kill your workouts.
We also allow sharing promotion codes and sales for fitness-related stuff, keeping in mind that our rules on self-promotion and affiliate links still apply.
And how can the skincare community improve?
Need help with skincare? What's the difference between a toner and emulsion and an oil? Do you want to share your skincare tips and tricks? You've found the right place!
Ethnobotanist here, trained in botany, environmental science, ecology, geology. Big fan of skin care. Big fan of plants. Raised by a medical doctor. That being said, the more I learn about botany the more the skincare industry pissses me off. Companies like Goop and honest beauty can honestly fuck right off. You do know a lot of plants are natural that can kill you? Thereβs so much in nature that is natural that is incredibly dangerous. I love essential oils too but putting a highly concentrated drug directly on my skin with a pH that is damaging is just fucking stupid. I am so angry at eco assholes not understanding chemistry and medicine and listening to docs. Natural formulas donβt have constant replicated results due to fluctuations in growing patterns, sunlight, water, and oxygen. Whether you like it or not, lab tested synthetic botanical ingredients for uses in dermatology and other subjects is MORE SAFE not LESS.
I am literally a plant scientist!! And I am telling you, natural does not equate better ! Deadly nightshade and foxglove are natural and you donβt see me rubbing them all over my body!!!
Hopefully this isnβt too weird, but I would like some help creating a faux βskincare routineβ for my 4.5 year old son. Before you guys think Iβm appalling, let me explain.
My son loves copying what I do during the day. Iβve been a SAHM his entire life, and thatβs pretty much how it goes. I love my skin care and makeup, and itβs impossible to not do those things in front of him. Now he is interested in joining me when I wash my face but there is no way I would EVER put any products on his skin, especially mine. While I do use some mild cleansers, most of my routine consists of products meant to target more stubborn set backs like hyperpigmentation, breakouts, and rough texture. Not exactly something I want to share with him. When I speak about all the βmagic stuffβ I put on my face, I have always been careful not to use language that implies that my skin is βbadβ, βuglyβ, or needs to be fixed, so itβs kinda solidified in his head that this is something that he can also partake in. And honestly I donβt mind that.
My question is, can anyone recommend and super super mild soap or cleanser that would be safe for a 4.5 year old to put on his face? A moisturizer? Or a fun way where I can fake a routine? I was thinking of getting some dropper bottles and maybe just filling them with something safe/water since the droppers are almost his favorite part. If it helps, my son is pretty fair skinned and easily turns red in the cheeks when hot or excited.
TLDR: help me come up with a faux skincare routine that I can share with my 4.5 year old son so he feels included in my day to day routines.
I'm going no fragrance because my cat is a literal princess and runs away if things smell too strongly. She gets very annoyed when I sneeze, if that gives you more context on her princess-ness.
Iβm not sure if this is just me or if everyone does it but I just realized i could just put all these skincare samples I receive that I donβt want to use on my face (and disrupt my current regimen) by putting them on other parts of my body.
In the past I would just not use them and eventually throw them away after theyβve become expired but now I know better and put them on my body. Just woke up with soft feet. Thank you Dior Skin. π€
Ever since learning about tretinoin and using it, all the BS markting around skincare seems so apparent now.
All the products that may have seemed potentially effective some time ago just seem pointless now.
Just the other day I looked at Cult Beauty website skincare section out of curiousity, and most of what I saw were super expensive products of questionable effecacy.
Especially their vitamin A products. A lot of them have questionable percentages, or contain some unproven vit A ester, and advertise random plant extracts.
This post goes into a couple of such products
So all in all, it's just funny to think about the fact that a simple tret tube can outperform some luxury vitamin A serum.
Basic details - 20 F, Combination skin So I recently decided to start a workout routine coz Ive been sitting way too idle at home(Also my doc said I need to lose weight lolπ π)
This is how I currently do it
Wake up : 9-10 am(depends)
Skincare and brushing : Morning - As soon as I wake up. Night - Depends but mostly 1-2 hours before bed or 12 hours after my morning routine.
Workout : Sometime around 11 am - 12 pm (Around 25 mins :- 15 mins dancing, 5 mins jogging, 5 mins walking) I'm thinking of adding a yoga session in the evening for 30 mins.
Bathing : Right after the workout
Sleep timings : 1 am (Don't shame me.π€¦ββ I promise I'll work on itπ)
I would like to know your routines in the same format and order please. It would help me a great deal to co-ordinate my routine as well. (Y'all can drop any video recommendations for a workout as well. I'd be happy π)
I have recently realised that actually most products from specialist skincare companies are aimed at white skin and not to people of colour. I learnt this the hard way as I was following YouTubers advice regarding skin care but little that I knew was that it wasnβt specific enough to my skin colour. I have now scarred my face and I have a lot of pigmentation from using the wrong products and using a very biased opinion on what products to use!
Maybe it's because I'm very into skincare, but these mfers don't even take basic care of their skin, which falls more into the category of hygiene anyway. Most of them have crusty, leathery, sun damaged skin already and it really puts me off. Imagine just how they're going to look in 20 years from now, aging like wine my ass lol. Seriously, I hear all of these stories about men not changing their pillow cases (π€’), they don't even know what a moisturizer is, let alone sunscreen. Nothing more gross than a man who grows a full beard with bad skin underneath. Not to mention all the crap they eat which contributes to it, too.
As popular as skincare is now, soon you're going to have a generation of women looking bomb because they've been intensively taking care of their skin since young and their male counterparts looking like they could be their fathers.
Title says it all :)
According to Fortune, cosmetics conglomerate Coty announced in a presentation to investors that it plans to:
- reduce the number of CoverGirl product series to its top 8 performers (comprising 70% of brand sales.)
- return to classic CoverGirl packaging, which consumers strongly identify with their longtime favorite products. "Suddenly the sales started to drop, simply because people didnβt recognize their favorite mascaras,β [Coty CEO Sue] Nabi said during the investor day when discussing the earlier Covergirl packaging revamp. Changing it back βis going to help us a lot.β
- focus ad campaigns on A-list celebrity endorsers rather than positioning CG as a 'lifestyle' brand
Other interesting excerpts:
"The company is also nearing the launch of Kardashianβs skincare line SKKN, a nod to her initials. Kardashian, who has also gone by Kim Kardashian West and has used KKW on existing products, filed for divorce from hip-hop superstar Kanye West earlier this year.
βWeβre not using her current trademark for all the reasons you can imagine,β Nabi said in the interview."
According to the presentation, Coty ranks #1 in the world in fragrance and #4 worldwide in color cosmetics. Their FY20 net revenues totaled US$4.2 billion.
The Fortune article is available without a paywall if you'd like to read more.
ETA: Highly recommend the slide deck presentation, which asserts quite a bit about the international cosmetics industry. Maybe I should have posted about those findings, lol.

I find this kind of industry news helpful to understand how the pandemic has shaped strategies for brands hoping to move out of recession. Also always interested to see how big name, legacy brands like CoverGirl evolve to find new audiences without compromising existing loyal customers.
Wonder if KKW Beauty will rebrand as well.
