Just wondering how people would feel about an Amtrak stop that would link Minneapolis to Omaha with Sioux Falls as a stop in the middle? I frequent both of those cities and SD is the odd man out when it comes to rail travel despite having trains literally everywhere. The more I think about it the more it makes sense but would anyone else use it?

I'm reading "the Great Deluge," which is a 700-page history of Hurricane Katrina. All throughout the book, they talk of how Katrina was "the big one" that had been expected to hit New Orleans for decades.

Lots of places in the country have some concept of "the big one" -- in California, for example, it's supposed to be a catastrophic earthquake. People talk of "when will 'the big one' hit?"

It got me wondering, what would "the big one" be for the Sioux Falls area? There's no doubt that we live in a very safe part of the country, but is there some natural or man-made catastrophe that would be on the level of a Hurricane Katrina, or a massive earthquake in California?

In particular, is there something that might happen that would ever require us to evacuate?

I have a pre-teen daughter. She wants to attend the Pride event. We were all planning on going, including our younger kids. I guess I'm just wondering what to expect. Is it a kid-friendly event? One of my concerns is I've heard there can be conflict if protesters show up. Any details would be appreciated.

Most of the through roads on the SW side of town and into Tea are under construction. Not shocking there is construction since it is summer but it seems like every through road has construction all at the same time with most of it blocked off and not being worked on.

Has anyone seen any projections when some of these projects will be done?

UPDATE: thanks so much for everyone's help and recommendations! I have a working computer now after months of stress. Best feeling ever is seeing everything turn on. Can't wait to play some games once I've got everything all set up.

So I have been working with a friend to build a new pc for months now and he's been super unreliable and I'm moving in 3 weeks and I really want this PC done before I leave because it's a small town so I'll be screwed if it's not done before I finish it.

Its already built I just have to put the GPU in but I've been holding off because after trying to power it up we realized my CPU isn't compatible with the motherboard without a bios update. So I need an older AMD CPU (gen 2000 or 3000 I think) in order to power it on to download the update and then reinstall my CPU and throw in my graphics card.

I'm considering just buying another old CPU and doing it myself but I'm pretty hopeless with hardware and have been relying pretty heavily on my friend so I'm worried about super screwing something up so I'm looking at going to a PC building shop in Sioux falls and just having them help.

Does anyone have any recommendations for shops? I've already gone over budget with this build thanks to the bad market right now so I'm hoping for a place that's fairly priced.

I’m from Texas and we Texas gals (30F) like to show our skin, especially in the summer. But ever since I’ve moved here I’ve noticed that women tend to cover up? I don’t care if I get looked at but I hope I don’t get approached with rude remarks either. I’m confident about my body and I work really hard to keep myself in shape.
