A list of puns related to "Robert Flaherty"
Hey all. I don't know if I'm late to the party on this one, but has there been much talk on Father Robert Flaherty being Brother Bob? The timeline would fit in Baltimore, though it's difficult to find anything on him before 1972. He has records of working at a school then, but not before. Could he have been a friend or acquaintance of Maskell's, resulting in access to the women at the school? Could his DNA be tested against the DNA collected from Sister Kathy? I neeeed answers!!!

Slow you say? Here is the list of the companies.

So, as it's time for the offseason, it's also time for crazy offseason posts that have way too much effort put into them. Just before the World Series ended, /u/skraxx and I decided to put together an offseason game where every team was run by a different person. The results? Hoo boy, they were crazy. So let's go over some highlights. If you don't want to read specific highlights, you can check out final rosters here.
The Chaos:
Here's a list of every high profile trade that was made during this offseason. Let's break it down, shall we?
Giants receive: Eric Hosmer, Pierce Johnson, Justin Lange, Jackson Merrill
Padres receive: Zack Littell, Steven Duggar
This was the very first trade made in the league, and it did not disappoint. A salary dump of Eric Hosmer in which Pierce Johnson, Justin Lange, and Jackson Merrill went over to San Francisco. Pretty crazy way to start the sim.
Yankees receive: German Marquez, Antonio Santos
Rockies receive: Chad Green, Estevan Florial, Clarke Schmidt
Still pretty reasonable thus far, with the Yankees trading a decent haul for German Marquez. Trades like this made me think that the sim would be relatively calm, but hoo boy will we get to that.
Giants receive: Johan Camargo, Huascar Ynoa, Braden Shewmake, Yoansy Moreno
Braves receive: Mike Yastrzemski, Thairo Estrada
Giants trade Yaz and Estrada for a Starting Pitcher, a decent middle infield prospect, a bench bat, and a young prospect. Might be too little for Yaz, but I'm a believer in Ynoa and Shewmake.
Blue Jays receive: Ketel Marte
Diamondbacks: Nate Pearson, Orelvis Martinez, Bowden Francis
Blue Jays make a big splash by acquiring Ketel Marte. This is a pretty good haul, but a good move by Toronto nonetheless to bolster their lineup even more.
Yankees receive: Alex Dickerson, John Brebbia
Giants receive: Aaron Hicks, Zack Britton, Ken Waldichuk, Elijah Dunham
To give some context to this, Skraxx and I agreed to put a hard limit on the payroll for each team, and thus the Yankees desperately needed to shed payroll. As such, they trade Hicks and Britton in a salary dump, giving up Waldichuk and Dunham in the process.
Rays receive: Josh Hader, 1.5M
Brewers receive: Xavier Edward, Josh Flemming, Neraldo Catalina, Alejandro Pie
Brewers decided it was time to trade Jo

A cult hero would be a player who may not be nationally recognized, but is beloved by a teamās fan base.
Let me know what you got! Most popular answer will be featured in the video.
Every Tuesday Iām going to try and post a Criterion movie on here to discuss. I am going to go in order of spine release and would love to hear from people who have already seen it or are curious to see it. I will post a brief review below as well as a question for discussion in the comments.
This week is Spine #33, Nanook of the North. As of January 18th, 2022 it is unavailable to stream on the Channel in the US, has an OOP DVD release, no Blu-ray, and no Laserdisc.

Dir: Robert J. Flaherty
78 minutes.
They Shoot Pictures (2021): 235
Wow. Iām speechless, this movie was so much better than I expected.
As far as silent films go, I would say this is truly a must-see. An explorer kept revisiting Alaska and eventually brought a camera along to document some of what his life was like while in the great north. By 1920, Robert Flaherty had an idea to stop trying to capture the entire experience and rather focus in on one family and use them to be indicative of his experiences every year on his expeditions.
What we have, then, is a 78-minute film where we see an Inuk family hunting for food, trading in a larger town, building an igloo, and generally trying to survive in an unbearable cold. Itās not a documentary in the purist sense. The women in his family werenāt really his wives, Nanook wasnāt really his name, and some scenes were staged. So what we have then is one of the earliest works of docufiction. It was a commercial success for Flaherty, and influenced ethnographically based documentaries in the US. It also helped producers understand that documentaries could be financially successful endeavors and even how to market them.
It is a very straightforward work, without an arc or prominent narrative structure. Nanook exists as a fascinating interpretation of the Inuk lifestyle that Flaherty got to know. I could have easily seen another hour, but the fact itās only 78 minutes also makes this an easy watch. Find it and give it a whirl, I think youāll enjoy it too!

But he is forced to do this for the curriculum so that all students still have a basis. He lists many other films outside of this list for the interested students. This is only the mandatory list. So I think it's important to discuss the list itself and not the teacher's teaching method.*
