Recently Iβve found my way into the world of Hong Kong cinema. I started with some Jackie, Jimmy Wang Yu, and other martial arts centric movies. Last week I started looking into other genre or non genre HK films. I watched some Jonnie To, and last night I watched my first Ringo Lam film, Wild Search.
I went in with only the knowledge that Lam directs in a more hard hitting, gritty, and bleak style. Though knowing that I was still blown away by the style of Ringo Lam. The use of up close cinematography and shots that we as a real life spectator or as the character themselves was wonderful. The balance of the comedic, dark, and romantic elements in this movie were structured in a way that I have never seen before.
Iβll stop gushing, my point is: if youβve seen Wild Search, what did you think of it? Or what do you think of Ringo Lamβs work in general?
