A list of puns related to "Rhetorical Modes"
I usually develop my paragraph with examples, details, and explanations. Why should I use rhetorical modes to develop my essay?
I am posting this here because the question seems to be above the level of r/communism101.
Marx:
>I paint the capitalist and the landlord in no sense couleur de rose [i.e., seen through rose-tinted glasses]. But here individuals are dealt with only in so far as they are the personifications of economic categories, embodiments of particular class-relations and class-interests. My standpoint, from which the evolution of the economic formation of society is viewed as a process of natural history, can less than any other make the individual responsible for relations whose creature he socially remains, however much he may subjectively raise himself above them.

Isn't Marx writing here that there is no effective individual agency and the only agency we can think about is collective rooted in class, i.e. it is the class of individuals which has agency but not the individual?

TL;DR: The US will not be in conventional war with itself. If anything, it is going to Balkanize. It will be ugly and not a good time.
Few people want to read books on reddit so I am going to keep this one short(er). If you want the long version, I wrote^1 them^2 here.^3 If you don't like reading, Robert Evans' podcast "It Could Happen Here" is a good introduction to these concepts. All sources are linked at the bottom.
Anyway, the term "civil war" has been in mainstream new cycle as of late. Of course many people balk at this idea because they cannot imagine this happening. It must be impossible in today's modern world with all its complexities. The problem is that those people still view "war" in the way it happened in the 1940s: two big sides, attacks and counter-attacks over lines on a map, money and fuel and infantry on the ground trying to outlast each other, etc. It doesn't work like that. War hasn't worked like that for at least the past 50 years.
The signs of a coming civil collapse can be watered down to four indicators:
1. Freedom and rights are disappearing.
The two wings of our neoliberal political system have refused to return liberties to common people and have only intensified their assault on the unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Healthcare, the right to one's own body, a living wage allowing one to own a house.
2. Polarization, hate, and violence are on the rise.
The 2024 presidential campaign started on January 20, 2021 at 12:00. White supremacy is now mainstream.^4
3. Access to information is limited.
An information silo is a business management term for information that is self-contained and walled off from everything else. I'm not getting into business jargon here, so think of it like a grain silo. Yes, that giant tube with a dome on top next to a barn. It's full of grain and on the top you can even stand on it (don't do that). It looks good, sturdy, stable, just like a new theory you are exposed to. But if you start poking around, there are a lot of holes, cavities, voids. If one of those collapses, then you go do

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

There was a knock at the Admiralβs door, a young NCO stood in the doorway.
"Sir, the last evacuation ship from Tertius has just jumped in."
"Well good, but why the personal visit?" The older Admiral spun in her chair to stare at the Warrant Officer.
"The captain of the transport is saying he has information regarding a scout or something, sir?"
All traces of emotion drained from the Admiral.Β "Bring them here, now."
"Aye Sir."
---
The Admiral placed the holochip the shipβs captain had given her into the computer on her desk.
"Chief, simply by knowing about this chip, you are privy to some of the most classified information Alliance Command has."
"Uh, my apologies Sir. I will leave, also I'm not a Chief."
"You are now. As my personal assistant you'll need to have the clearance.β
βSir?β
βYou're going to help me make sense of what we're about to see. Weβll talk about OCS later."
The admiral indicated a seat for the now surprised Chief Warrant Officer.
"Promotion and transfer are filed. Now, hopefully, we can figure out why Beacon-36 malfunctioned and also figure out who this Scout is." the Admiral looked the Chief directly in the eye and continued.Β "The first secret to know: our evacuation plans had a fatal flaw.Β There was no safe way to bring the villagers outside the central city to the transports. During the initial invasion, the Praxitans had too many of their soldiers on the ground.Β They were destroying rescue ships, medical ships, and executing every human they found. Scout resolved that problem for us, in a way.Β The Praxitans became more focused on finding Scout than they were on destroying transports.Β Where Scout got Beacon-36, how Scout knew all our protocols; that's been a mystery this whole time. Beacon-36 would only transmit refugee locations, and calls for evacuation. The suit would not let us issue remote commands. We wanted to find it ourselves, but we couldnβt pinpoint it long enough to track. We also knew we couldn't afford to not accept their help.Β Those people needed out, and Scout with that Beacon suit, got them out."
βUh, Sir? Why is a suit malfunction that important?β

In my experience, it can be a little more complicated. I'll try to condense it a bit for you if you care to read about my own participation in conspiracy theories and my opinion of how it gripped me, my girlfriend, my brother, and eventually my dad.
I personally got into conspiracy theories about 10 years ago. At the time, the theories weren't much different. They revolved around lizard people, depopulation plots, chemicals in the water and air that were meant to control the masses, and plenty of others. I didn't buy into all the theories, probably because the "proof" was too nebulous and/or easily debunked. But I did sort of buy into others. I remember checking my mailbox at one point to see what color of sticker was put on it by "they". Theories suggested that different colors meant different things from "kill" to "enslave", or "recruit" and "assimilate". Crazy stuff, but at the time, this seemed plausible because of the content I was consuming.
I remember it feeling good to consume "information" related to conspiracy theories. This makes sense because our brains release dopamine when we solve a problem and/or recognize a pattern in the world around us. It's a helpful function related to survival, but it is also something we can become addicted to. The more intense the puzzle is that we solve, the better/bigger the hit of dopamine is. This is why the conspiracy theories seem to get crazier and crazier to those who are on the outside looking in.
One (I think HUGE) difference between the state of conspiracy theory believers and contributors now vs. ten years ago, is that it's so mainstream now that most people can readily find an echo chamber for the content they've absorbed and further solidify their perceptions. Seemingly unlimited media platforms make it exceptionally easy, but it's also very likely that certain friends, family members, and coworkers will hop right on the proverbial train with you if you bring up certain talking points related to conspiracy theories these days. Ten years ago, I felt pretty uncomfortable talking to anyone about the things I was watching, reading, and listening to. That was one thing that helped me keep reflection a little more ground based.
I eventually quit my addiction because I was able to reflect and see it for exactly what it was. It was an addiction to manifactured puzzl

I thought for a bit that I wasn't going to make this post. I wanted to give no excuses for any anti-feminist sub to go after feminists, so I was going to drop it. But in the 24 hours since being banned from fourthwavewomen (after arguing about a now Reddit Site Wide banned member about their transphobia), I have spoken to 2 other people who were banned for the same reason within the last 24 hours, and WitchesvPatriarchy nearly banned me for even interacting there, because the hatred is so bad. I do not want other feminists seeking this sub out and dealing with this same issue.
While it is not my goal to tear down some other ideologies women in that sub have, it is their right to hold differing beliefs, I can not and will not tolerate transphobia on any level. No strain of feminism should exist that demonizes queer existence.

Transsexualism is an example of male surgical siring which invades the female world with substitutes." "Transsexualism, which Janice Raymond has shown to be essentially a male problem, is an attempt to change males into females, whereas in fact no male can assume female chromosomes and life history/experience." This is a "best of" thread I am making mainly for all the many new fans that have joined, as a thank you for being part of this great community, and for another reason that I will probably be announcing soon.
I apologize for those who always keep up with my threads, as there is nothing new here. As mentioned it's a selection of the most interesting ones from my old threads. But if you never read any of them, then I hope you have fun reading them, although considering the size of this one, I understand if you can't spend that much time.
This list will start with the simple ones, and will escalate as you go down the list.
I made sure to take out all spoilers out and spoil tag the rest, but still please be careful when reading about a game you haven't played, and you don't want anything in it spoiled.
Nothing here is mind blowing or things no one knows, in fact if you played these games, you probably already know about most of them. But if you didn't, then hey, you just learned a new fun fact.
I am aware that some of these were done by many and even in record times. this isn't the point of this thread, they are just funny and weird tidbits and facts.
I think choosing an Idea Factory game would be cheating, since they can really fill this entire list alone, So for the sake of variety, I will only mention one part, of one game, and that is from the Agarest: Generation of War.
Now this game is filled with ridiculous stuff, but letβs focus on one part, and that is Capturing and getting a Monster as a party member. Because in this game, even though you already get a very large cast to join your party, that probably more than half will go unused. They also added the feature of the player being able to catch any monster in battle and add them as a playable party member. βGreatβ you might say, βwhat is so bad about that ?β, well in order to catch a monster you first need to teach the Capture Skill to someone, so they can cast it on a monster. So how do you get this skill ? easy, all you have to do is:

EDIT: I hope Dr. K does see this because, so far at least 2 hours in, there are a few feminists that are unintentionally making the exact points about divisiveness that I was trying to point out by being prime examples of it. Now, that's not necessarily bad. But some of the men have blatantly been told they were wrong when they tried to express their opinions, and I think it's a good example of the sexism on both sides, and an inherent lack of empathy. It kind of makes my point. Women don't generally empathize with men, and men are being taught to empathize with women. The solution is for everyone to empathize with everyone. But look at this whole thread. Framing this stuff as men and women's issuse literally has invited division, just as I predicted. Some of the convos have been insightful though, so thank you to those ladies and gentlemen.
TL;DR: Men v Women framing is conducive to division. Much of what Dr. K said about women's difficulties is accurate, but he failed to layout the positive trade-offs of those things. For example: His analogy for men to understand women's plight was to imagine always having your mom nag you everywhere you go. A better example would be that your mom nags you everywhere you go AND some women you are interested in and attracted to also approach you and flirt with you and try to start relationships with you randomly with no effort on your part. There is a trade-off that is directly tied to the problem. He only pointed out the curse and not the boon.
Iβm going to use Dr. Kβs tactic of saying - If you think your doing a good job at something and someone says there is a problem you should start by listening because it is likely showing a blind spot in your thinking. If you think you understand these issues well, you should start by listening therefore read the whole thing and take the criticism. Because the more logic you have to discount my opinion, the more CATASTROPHICALLY YOU ARE WRONG!
While I think there is some truth to that statement, it is also a rhetorical tactic used to gaslight people. I am not saying Dr. K is doing that. I do not think he is. I just wanted to point that out that statements like these are often employed in such a way. That being said, Iβm going to use it as a rhetorical tool to make my point, and usher people towards reading until the end.

After discussion with the moderation team, this will be the discussion megathread for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. To be even more clear, this will be the sole discussion megathread for the entire grand finals weekend. We have decided that a single thread allows discussion to continue and flow best, and given that there is no clear window to separate the days given that FNCS contests are going around the clock due to time zone differences between regions, we've chosen to go forward with a single weekend-long discussion megathread. Of course, should you wish to provide feedback or have a more in-depth discussion on the matter, please contact the team in modmail!

How Apple invades employees privacy and gambles with their mental health.
TLDR: Apple has created a hostile environment for their employees mental health and well being through a slew of policies designed to invade your privacy and allow customers free reign to be abusive. If and when you seek to get yourself help, they will find anyway to get rid of the βproblemβ.
EVIDENCE ZIP: anonfiles.com/T6V11755x4/Evidence_zip
Preface: I donβt make posts like this but after seeing one of Appleβs employees has taken their own life as a result of their increasingly hostile policies, I feel I should share my experience. I am coming forward with my analysis and evidence of how Appleβs leadership mistreats employee mental health issues and promotes psychological abuse from Appleβs customer base.
The irony of my separation from Apple is that I was let go during their βMental Health Awareness Monthβ because my Senior Area Manager (SAM from here out) didnβt believe that I was having anxiety driven panic attacks and triggering PTSD episodes- for which I had documented medical accommodation THROUGH Apple Employee Relations. I have had these accommodations in place for a number of years without issue when, this last July, he accused me of βtime theftβ without a shred of evidence (I have asked for evidence and none could be provided to me). There are no documented policy violations on my part that lead to this termination. This accusation came shortly after I voiced my opinion to leadership on a number of Apple policies and procedures that seemed abusive and not at all conducive to a positive work environment which I will lay out below. For this reason I believe Employee Relations sided with my SAM and agreed to let βthe problemβ go.
I started at Apple seven years ago. Three years into the mandatory overtime and being promoted to a Mac+ T2 Senior Advisor (the mac+ means we are trained in almost every product, we received no additional compensation and substantially larger workload) my partner, friends and family had noticed a significant change in my behavior.
Here are the major outliers that are responsible for the deterioration o
