A list of puns related to "Oratory"
Disclaimer: I don't necessarily agree with everything the speaker did or said, but it's a good quote nonetheless.
I notice my Verite Closed has measurements in the graph database, but not in the EQ presets list. Is there a way to convert the graph into EQ or is this something Oratory has to do by hand?
i just recently purchased the qudelix 5k and it sounds a bit different to me than my normal setup of soundblaster x3 with the same eq running from oratory.
I do classes everyday, and today I came across this trick to edit audio. By using this effect I can make my voice louder without passing the "too loud" barrier. The deal is, I have to livestream sometimes, and there isn't "live editing". Should I use It on videos or just improve my voice naturally?
I grew up as an altar boy in a Tridentine mass, but also served and attended many other rites (primarily Catholic).
I also have attended a protestant church for about 10+ years.
There is one thing that hits me like a culture shock at DL, and to be honest, it seems disrespectful, sloppy, and distracting.
When people are reading or saying prayers reading the Liturgy, there is absolutely no regard for pace or how it lands on the ears. It sounds like this:
" Ocomeletusbowdown and worshibeforGodourking come letus bowdownanworship before Godourking... "
It sounds like someone rattling off the rules of a courtroom hearing, or reciting the minutes of a previous meeting for the audio recording. It sounds like they can barely read, don't care if anyone can understand them, and are just trying to get through it as fast as possible. In my line of work, there's one place where people do this: when swearing in for hearings and rattling off names and places for the purpose of putting it on the record, because the law says you have to say it.
I know well that saying the same thing over and over every week can start to be muscle memory. But that is why chanting and intonation exist, so you don't butcher it through carelessness and so it doesn't become a rhetorical performance like MLK Jr working a crowd.
I just can't adjust to people rushing through it, pausing at nonsensical places, like what matters is that the words are merely verbalized with no regard for the structure or flow of what is being said. Periods? Mere suggestions. Line break and commas? Don't exist. Emphasis? No shot.
Saying "Lord'vemercyLord'vemercyLord'vemercy" as a rapid-fire run-on sentence seems...sarcastic. It feels like someone is looking at their watch and saying "sheesh, we gotta do 40 of these? Better get moving or we will miss kickoff"
Why does this happen, seemingly at every orthodox church? It seems intensely disrespectful, and gives off a strong vibe of "this doesn't really matter to understand, we just have to get through it". Is it intended to be like hard counter-correction against being performative? Or is it just a shortcoming that is culturally widespread?
Ok, forgive me...total noob here and am using this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/giczfg/howto_parametric_eq_on_mac_os_x_and_android/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Jumped all in and snagged a pair of HD800s and am using a Schiit Valhalla 2 that just got here today. Modius DAC is en route tomorrow hopefully.
I'm on my iMac, I've got Blackhole installed along with Hosting AU, but my EQ curve definitely doesn't look like Oratory's which you can hopefully see in the screen shot I took.
For Band 2-9, Hosting AU doesn't have "Peak" so I'm guessing that's the issue, but I'm not sure what to use instead...any help?
This is my first time using a legit EQ, clearly I suck at it, lol. Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

Hello, I have tried applying the oratory Harmon target preset to the Drop THX Panda. I applied it on equalizer APO, and loved how they sound on my desktop. I would like to apply that profile, or a similar profile using Sound ID on the phone. Thanks
Hi does anyone know if it is possible to go into Berghain after lab.oratory? I know they are in the same building, but do they connect inside?
... yes, it was a LOT of tedious work. Feel free if you have any questions.
If you have headphones (or loudspeakers) and Windows, you need to try this app. It's 100% free, open source, stable, and without ads or anything. It's just a gift to the audio community.
You can see it as a new Equalizer APO GUI. Like PEACE, but simpler and more focused towards listening sessions and fine-tuning the sound of your devices (even after reaching a given target curve). It supports 1 or 2 users for dual listening sessions, and it includes an original "1K Tilt" function.
BTW Peter Verbeek (PEACE developer) was kind enough to be among the beta testers. His feedback helped take the app to the next level.
All Oratory presets are included as "priority 1" (as they should, lol), and you can easily switch between different target curves :
Check it out here : https://sourceforge.net/projects/mega-switcher/ (and please read the manual !)

Euphemisms is a phrase coined by many to describe euphemistic expressions that "conceal reality" and "take the life out of life."
"People have trouble facing the truth," Garagista said. "So they invent a kind of a soft language to protect themselves from it".
Under some peopleβs definition, euphemisms are the closest synonym to "soft language", although the "softness" is implied to be an effect of the euphemism's usage. When a euphemism is used, its purpose is to soften the impact of something shocking, crude, ugly, embarrassing, or something along those lines. The point is that this indirect language may spare us some discomfort, but at the cost of vividness and expressiveness.
How to Read Your Own Body Language
A corollary to this is jargon, which is specialized language for particular fields. On the surface, its intention is to express specialized ideas more clearly and specifically. In practice, however, jargon-heavy language tends to obscure the point rather than clarify it.

So I manually applied the EQ settings (the Harman curve version) and it's making the HD800 have too much bass. For reference, I also have a couple of Focals (though closed backs) that I also EQ with oratory settings, and both sound pretty neutral in the bass after EQ. Only the HD800 post-EQ sounded markedly different.
I'm running all the 3 mentioned headphones with Chord stuff (Hugo 2, Mojo), and I EQ with software (Waves Q10 plugin on Mac). I double checked that I got the EQ numbers correctly.
Btw, the Optimal Hi-fi version of oratory EQ for HD800 sounded good on my particular unit. It's closer to the bass quantity on the Focals EQ'd to the Harman (raised sub bass) curve.
There wouldn't be a bassier batch of the HD800 (the non-S), is there? This is weird.
EDIT: Puzzle solved. Thanks for all the replies. Turns out, it's NOT that the HD800 had more bass than intended by the EQ preset, but the Focals had "less bass due to positioning/seal on my head vs. the oratory reference measurement".
