Hi, I'm currently taking a typography class and need this textbook! If anyone has a copy of exploring typography 2nd edition by Tova Rabinowitz it would be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Hi, I'm Heidi Rabinowitz, today's AMA person, and I wear a lot of hats. Most of them have to do with Jewish children's books.
My day job is Library Director of the Feldman Children's Library at Congregation B'nai Israel of Boca Raton, Florida, where I do 20+ preschool storytimes each week plus teach a visual literacy special, and serve as librarian for the religious school. This year I teach over Zoom.
Within the Association of Jewish Libraries, I've served as Chair of the Sydney Taylor Book Award for the best Jewish children's/teen books of the year, member of the Sydney Taylor Manuscript Award for the best unpublished middle grade Jewish fiction, and I was also the President of AJL 2012-14. Currently I'm AJL's Member Relations Chair.
Since 2005, I've hosted The Book of Life: A Podcast About Jewish Kidlit (Mostly) at https://jewishbooks.blogspot.com/. It's like a Jewish "Fresh Air" where I interview creators of Jewish children's books and others involved in creating materials that might be found in a library like mine.
I was a member of PJ Library's original book selection committee, before it even had a name. I also briefly worked for PJ Library in 2017-18.
With other AJL friends (some of whom are doing AMA's here) I co-founded the Jewish Kidlit Mavens group on Facebook and The Sydney Taylor Shmooze mock award blog. I present about Jewish children's books a lot and am a member of the American Library Association Equity Diversity Inclusion speakers bureau.
When I'm not obsessing about Jewish kidlit, I can be found birding, watching Doctor Who, or discussing Harry Potter as a sacred text.
In previous sessions, Artie, one of my player's characters, had called his psychic powers "Weird," but never magical. He's a Spooky, and his husband Eric has known him and his powers since they were about thirteen. Artie has always been able to do what he can do, reading minds is like ambient noise to him. Some voices are louder than the others.
But now, due to not indulging his Dark Side, Artie finds himself cut off from his psychic powers. This coincided with finding a spot where a ritual was going to take place, so Artie assumes that the magic sigil somehow zapped his powers, and he's not sure how to get them back. Needing some time alone, he went to grab pizza from the local Dominos to think things over and get food for the group.
Meanwhile, Emery, a Spell-Slinger/magical shop owner(really, pinning this guy's class down was a mess, he's so multi-faceted it was Spell-Slinger, Crooked, or the Expert) with the help of Eric the Archivist's help in narrowing down what type of monster the cult was summoning. Due to some bad rolls, they found a bunch of book in Old German, but no one there spoke German.
During this, back at the ritual site, Samson Massachusetts, a Flake, stayed with two of the cultists they had captured and waited for Tess, a vampire from the local group called The Covenant(they help integrate supernatural creatures back into society under the guise of humanity) threatening one of the men who woke up after Artie Big Whammied them into unconsciousness. Succeeding in his roll, the man was quiet.
Artie returned with pizza, and everyone at the shop dug in. After some discussion about the archives, the bell dings, and a face Emery is very familiar with walks in. A tall redheaded woman named Lila who frequents his shop walked in with a big smile on her face, hands full of pictures. She excitedly, and with a thick Texas twang, shows Emery what she found. She had pictures of the creature Artie and Eric had fought a few nights before, with proof The Covenant took down the body. She claimed to have been behind the dumpster taking pictures while the group was disposing of the body(Artie and Eric[along with two previous players who are no longer playing] had been at the bar where the creature had attacked a player. Artie Big Whammied it into a tree branch and killed it)
Emery asked Lila for the pictures, but she didn't want to give them all up. She offered half, but wanted to keep the rest to take home. Emery showed her some magic in th
... keep reading on reddit β‘To those whoβve taken it, would you say itβs more challenging/easier than the midterm? Is there more of a focus on the applied ethics section or the metaethics section? Probably going to take mine today and want to know what I should focus on when reviewing, thanks!
He was, in fact, quite stringy and gamey.
