Alternate Headline: More Proof that the Clintons Own the Media.
So I stumbled on this article, from way back in March of 2016. The post linking to this article was centered on Warren's non-endorsement of Bernie coming at a crucial point in the 2016 primary when her endorsement could have swung the MA primary, and potentially changing the narrative of the entire primary from there.
But this passage jumped out at me:
> Tulsi Gabbard, a Samoan-American congresswoman from Hawaii and a combat veteran who served in Iraq, quit her post as vice chair of the Democratic National Committee on Sunday over objections that the organization was stacking the deck for Hillary Clinton. She endorsed Sanders on the basis that Clinton has shown a willingness to draw America into disastrous wars in the Middle Eastβwars which she experienced firsthandβand Sanders would exercise more βsound judgment.β
> βI cannot remain neutral any longer,β she said in a video announcement. βThe stakes are just too high.β
> It's a principled stand, especially at a time when most analysts believe that Clinton will win the nomination. And it will come with serious consequencesβthe Clintons are notoriously brutal on Democrats who break ranks, and in an interview with Brian Williams on MSNBC, Gabbard spoke about the warnings she received from fellow politicians (3:45 mark)...
> βI'll be very honest with you,β she said, βa lot of people warned me against doing what I did. But this is a very serious issue, and what I did speaks to the high stakes that exist.β
> That's one approach to take, and as much as you might admire Gabbard, you have to understand that she may have just committed political suicide. Warren, who holds a place of esteem in the Senate, had opted for a different strategy. We can't see inside her head to know every detail, but a Politico piece that ran Monday, using sources close to Warren, gives us the clearest idea yet on how she's using her endorsement to consolidate and increase that power. Essentially, she seems to be holding out long enough to use her progressive bona fides as a bargaining chipβtrading her cachet for power...

On behalf of the Profile in Courage Award Committee, we are pleased to announce that U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is the 2019 Profile in Courage Award honoree. She will be recognized for putting the national interest above her party's interest to expand access to health care for all Americans and then, against a wave of political attacks, leading the effort to retake the majority and elect the most diverse Congress in our nation's history.
Ambassador Caroline Kennedy and her son, Jack Schlossberg, announced Speaker Pelosi as the winner on CBS Sunday Morning over the weekend. If you missed it, you can watch below:

The video almost made Pelosi sound cogent for the first time in years.
I'll give Pelosi her "firsts," but I will NOT credit her with "courage."
Courage would have meant refusing to give Bush/Cheney (then Obama, now Trump) the unconstitutional AUMF power to start illegal and unconstitutional wars based on lies for oil on behalf of American oil corporations and the military-industrial-mercenary complex.
Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say that one branch of government can transfer their duties and authority to another branch of government! US Constitution, Article I, Section 8, ad passim, gives Congress (and ONLY Congress) the authority to declare war and levy taxes to pay for war (for two years), and at no time since 2000 have conditions existed that might have allowed Congress to declare a legal or constitutional war against anyone for any reason. We were never attacked by any country who had declared war against the US! Al Qaeda (and its copy-cat organizations) was only a little guerrilla gang, and that's not enough to use the full force of the US military against a little guerrilla gang; the US Constitution does not allow for authorizing war against guerrilla gangs.
Courage would have meant Pelosi immediately blowing the whistle on the torture program when she was one of the Gang of Eight who was first told about it when Bush & Cheney were in charge.
Courage would have meant Pelosi impeaching Bush and Cheney in spite of knowing she could also be impeached for knowing about torture before anyone else and failing to tell the
