President Evo Molares meets with Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes in Asuncion on Friday of last week. The Presidents talked of trade and the plight of indigenous peoples. The latter issue was very dear to President Molares due to his Aymara heritage.
Upon his return Asamblea Legislativa Plurinacional sent a treaty to the Paraguayan government offering a visa free visitation program to both Paraguayans traveling to Bolivia and vice-versa. Along with this came a free trade clause. The clause reduced the tariffs between the countries by 3/4 ths and allowed access to Bolivian infrastructure to Paraguayan business. This would allow the Paraguayans to use the Bolivian river ports and sea ports at Arica and Antofagasta.
