A list of puns related to "Pope Pius Ix"
There is a quote often attributed to Pope Pius IX that reads:
>I alone, despite my unworthiness, am the successor of the apostles, the vicar of Jesus Christ: I alone have the mission to guide and direct the bark of Peter. I am the way, the truth, and the life: they who are with me are with the church: they who are not with me are out of the churchβthey are out of the way, the truth, and the life. Let men well understand this, that they be not deceived, or led astray by soi-disant Catholics, who desire and teach something quite different from what the head of the church teaches.
However I am incapable of finding any indication he said it, only people who say he said it.
Is my sleuthing a failure and I have simply been unable to find the source of the original quote in its entirety or is this a misattributing to Pope Pius IX for propaganda reasons?
I understand that a unified Italy in 1871 under Papal rule would be near impossible, but let's just say it is. How would Pope Pius IX (and his successor Leo XIII, and onwards) would manage Italy domestically and on a global scale in terms of colonialism and European/American relations?
I like to bring up Pope Pius IX and Alexander VI as proof that the Catholic Church is in infallible and flawed - like every other religion - and somehow it always comes back to the in persona Christi / divinely inspired defense. Does anyone else feel like one of the biggest issues with the church is itβs inability to admit that is FLAWED and Fallible
This is a personal preference, please do not name the nation "Holy Roman Empire" because to be honest it's the bane of all history, it seems like everyone loves it strangely.
What would happen post unification? How would unification be achieved? What would WW1 and WW2 look like if the Pope ruled?
What would happen among Catholics across the world if the Pope was executed? Would Italy Fall into a Civil War? Would Europe have a Civil Holy War?
