A list of puns related to "Plastron"
Looking at buying the SPES plastron 800N to add a bit of extra protection, there doesn't seem to be many reviews.
Key questions I was looking at are; is it really bulky?
Is it also suitable as a Gorget or have you found you need to wear one of those as well?
After breaking two needles on my sewing machine I've decided to just cave and buy a new plastron. I'm interested in upgrading to the Leon Paul ones but as a very sweaty person, is it worth the money to get the lightweight one rather than the economy one?
I'm looking at Leon Paul as there's a physical storefront very close to me but if anyone has any suggestions for a super lightweight plastron, I'm all ears. FIE isn't necessary.
Gajardoni used to make an amazing product, it was a simple spectra full torso plastron that was 800N. It is an incredible piece for protection modularity and doesn't restrict movement, two things that are on the top of my list for training gear.
Many club members and people I have fought have asked about getting one, but I do not know of any similar product.
Does anyone know of a version of this? It seems like the kind of thing that every manufacturer would have a version of
Hello all. Iβve been using a cotton club plastron for a long time now (never really been a significant equipment piece for me) and itβs time to get my own as our numbers of new recruits are growing and the newbies need all the club stuff. I hate the feel of the plastron under my jacket, and am looking for one that I barely know is there (relatively speaking). I know I should be concerned with protecting that part of my body, but Iβm hoping you guys have some picks that meet the safety requirement but are made well enough that Iβll hardly know itβs there in comparison to the cheaper ones. Thanks!
I noticed when I joined my club a few years ago that almost nobody wears plastrons except when competing. Is this common? It always seemed a bit strange to me since I was taught you should practice in the gear you're going to compete in, but then again I only take my knickers out for competitions so I'm not exactly taking my own advice there ;-)
This is an all-sabre class, so I suppose there's less of a reason to wear one since it's there to protect against puncture and point attacks aren't super common in sabre.
Anyway. Weird or not weird?
ETA: Thank you for your unanimous and pointed opinions on this topic :). I'm on a health-related hiatus at the moment, but as soon as I'm back I'll bring it up with the coach. It's not a "college" club; it's an independent club that just so happens to have mostly HS and college-age fencers as members. I am routinely the the oldest person there and I'm only on my forties. I just assumed plastrons had fallen out of "fashion" since I learned in the nineties.
My plastron is old but still very usable, and I havenβt found another with the same number of straps with the same placement. I donβt know if Iβm not looking hard enough, but thatβs the truth
My 4-week old YBS recently has popped up with these 'bruise-like' markings on his plastron. His diet consists of 6 Reptomini pellets a day, he has UVB & Heat lamp, his water temp. stays between 74-78F and his basking area stays at around 84-86F. He's in a 30 gal. tank with a filter and 2 water heaters.
He is still eating fine, pooping fine and is very active and loves to bask with his little feets stretched out. Could it just be him growing and it being a byproduct of growth as the carapace develops? I'm not too familiar with Septicemia but from what I've seen online if it was septicemia he wouldn't be as active or eating.
I've also seen on some forums that this can be caused just from him growing and maybe even his basking rock being too rough for his little belly. (You can see the basking rock in the picture). Is it too rough? Should I get another one?
Any thoughts? I am a fairly new turtle mom and he has become my literal child since quarantine started so I feel like a terrible mom right now. (His name is Scooter by the way, may change once he's old enough to be sexed).

Hey guys!
I'm currently in the market for a new plastron, what are everybody's favourites?
as per title. any suggestion for a longer cover than the standard:

I'm coming back after a surgery in the belly area so for the light sparring \ training i'm searching a longer cover more for a psychological security than actual protection.
