A list of puns related to "Carapace"
A new location in my game: Cara place, its a giant crab fishing outpost, which is actually a SHELL town for smuggling.
I was so pleased with the carapace pun that I thought I'd share. Does anyone else make pun based names for areas? I don't think it's too far away from how actual naming conventions work but I'm interested to see if anyone else finds them fun.

[Edit: I love this sub so much!! So many interesting answers! thanks guys!]
Was this every adresses in-universe?
How many guard regiments rebelled once seeing the heavily decorated warships after a battle where they lost friends and comrades due to the inadequacy of the flak armor?
How much conflict is there between ship crews and the guardmen they transport because of this?
How much damage do imperial ships suffer due to dissatisfied guardsmen stealing anything not nailed down as "compensation"?
This is a question I've had for a long time, but how do non-astartes use power armor? I know inquisitors and sororitas don't need a Black Carapace because their power armor isn't big enough to require it, but there are Astartes-sized individuals that use power armor, for example: Luther, Kor Phaeron and Hector Rex all use Astartes-sized power armor, so it can't be said they benefit from the smaller size of their armor.
The black Carapace is the last gene-seed organ that gets placed on the space marines after they do their time as scouts, so my question is, can the Black Carapace be used by non-astartes? And if not, how do people like Luther, Kor Phaeron and Hector Rex use power armor?
Sorry for bad English, it's not my first language :)
I apologize if this has been answered before.
The SRD and my CSC indicate the prices are 150kCr, 250kCr, and 500kCr. But in the chart theyβre listed as 10kCr, 15kCr, and 35kCr.
Was this discrepancy resolved?
Thereβs just so many layers of RNG that itβs just fucking stupid.
No Strange Pass? Reroll
Died with the dumb parasite that halves your health that you need to talk to MarβGosh and killed all the infectors? They donβt respawn so reroll lol
No black beetles spawn even though youβve already gotten all of the red rewards? Guess what reroll
As if running through Corsus wasnβt already annoying enough. Now I have to run through it 50 times just to have a chance of getting 1 piece of this stupid armor set.
I donβt even know if itβs good enough to be worth it. Itβs just the only set in the game I donβt have yet. Nothing else in the whole game required jumping through this many hoops. This shit better be the best damn armor in the game for how annoying it is to get.
I desperately hope that if this game gets a sequel nothing like this gets put into it. This is just fucking terrible
Rant over. Back to rolling Corsus 100 times
Edit: Ok Infectors do respawn. I read somewhere they didnβt and wasnβt sure. Thatβs good to know
Edit 2: Apparently you can indirectly give other people items by selling them to Ace in someone elseβs world, so if anyone on has any spare Hardened Carapaces please hmu. My PSN is epicperon
So, I've been working on some FW models, and one of the things I'm really having trouble with is painting the very edges of the carapace plates, like where they meet the skin, without getting the color in the wrong place. I have a tremor disorder so just "being extra careful" isn't a viable option.
Is there any simple way that I can mask off the places where I don't want the paint to go, so that I can paint these areas? I've heard of liquid masking stuff but everything I've read says that stuff is a pain to work with, so I don't think that is a viable option.
Please, any recommendations that don't amount to "just don't have a tremor disorder" are very much appreciated!
hey, I have a theory on the Carapace Cross (tl,dr at the end)
I think that they are very, very old, older than we think.
because what do we know about them ?
so they hail from a time were a civilisation of insects was possible, were there was a continent covered in damp forests that could be referred to as the "first continent", and that they are close to the primordial forces of the world.
My theory is that the Carapace Cross is a civilisation that emerged in the carboniferous, specifically the late carboniferous (~305 My ago).
It was the only time were all the conditions were presents. The oxygen level in the atmosphere was the highest ever in our (pre)history at 35% (21% today), which allowed insects to become very large (I am talking 2 meters (6 feet) long millipedes), the climate was warm and humid, which was favourable to rain-forests (and the period is known for its sprawling forests), the landmasses were all regrouped in a big super-continent (the "first continent") and a few islands, as the Pangaea was emerging.
The multicellular life on earth was still relatively young (even more so for terrestrial life, which at the time would only be 100-80 My old), which make it very plausible that this would be the very first civilisation on earth, and I think that it would put them in a very good position to be the first life capable of worship, and thus they would worship what was there, the primordial forces.
tl,dr : I think that the Carapace Cross emerged in the late carboniferous, for a bunch of reasons that I detail above
p.s. : don't worry, this not stolen from the discord, I just remembered that I should post it here too.
I have encountered a dilema when painting carapaces. When we use feathering in regular carapace plates, the way to determine the direction its really easy, but what can we do when there is irregular / chimmeneys?
As we can see here, GW opted for going just ortogonal to the border alongside the body axis direction. There we can see that the second body plate has more lights in the tiny triangular area just before the gut-tube. In chimneys they just do it top to bottom (yet i dont know what they do with the border, I supose they go with a edge light.
In the same fashion, the head just its hihglihged along the external edges and then plate-feathering. But in some instances the central fold of the carapaces (such as the legs) its also highlighted.
What are your thoughts on this? How do you approach the irregular edges on your tyranids :D?
I played games vs carapace and feel that vampires alwayes loss vs them if opponent is normal player.what ur experience and advices maybe i dont know how to play vs them.
I'd like to get that shield but it just won't drop. What concerns me is that there is no loottabel for it on TQ database but on other guides they say it drops from tropic arachnos. Hope you guys can help me so I dont waste my time.
Hey all, I was wondering if I could fit one of the Cerastus carapaces on a questoris chassis. I have an extra GW knight that I wanted to convert into a forgeworld questoris knight. I really like the way the armor looks for some of the forgeworld knights and have some stls for the Cerastus carapace armor. thanks!
