Paul Schrader Puns

Hi Reddit - I am Robert (or at least i will be for a little longer)... I was raised up in the Santa Cruz Mountains, my mother a Lutheran Pastor and my father a rocker in the 80’s band ‘The Call’. Ironically when i was 15yrs my father Michael Been was also producing other artists, and scored Schrader’s 1992 film 'Light Sleeper’ with Willem Dafoe while i was mostly a fly on the wall watching them collaborate ferociously. I vowed never to work in films after that and quickly ran away with the rock’n’roll circus. Only to end up back at the start again... so it’s all really just one big clown car missing a wheel. We’re all living in certfiably insane times however, with so much unrest, severe mental health issues on the rise, that i’m no stranger to either, so it’s better to share and converse together when we can. just watched card counter and felt like haddish and osaac gave all-time performances. i loved cmon cmon, both have relatively short directorial movies (if u skip schraders scripts he didn't direct)

the weird optimism at the tail end of schraders career atm (even amongst the wretched humanity of it all) and his use of actors in general feel like the kinda films that are becoming relics (at least in america at this execution level)

same for mike mills imo
