Optigan Puns

The fourth side of album 13 is made up of: Caramel, Trimm Trabb, No Distance Left to Run and Optigan 1.

I want to express how wonderful, sentimental, thoughtful and even sad this side is. Hearing it in one sitting is the best and is how it should be heard. In many interviews Damon Albarn expresses that one of the themes of the album is his breakup with an ex-partner. The album closes perfectly with the instrumental piece Optigan 1.

I'd like to hear his views on the last 4 songs on the album

I love old analog tape/disc "samplers." Early Chamberlins, weird Orchestrons, rare Birotrons; all sound wonderful to me. M-Tron and Nord and Memotron and various other companies offer samples of these instruments, but only if you use their products (hardware or VSTs). I don't want those products. I have my own sampler, I just want WAV files.

Aside from one, well-known, free pack of mellotron sounds (leisureland mellotron), I can't find these sounds anywhere. It seems crazy to me, because they're literally samples to begin with, I just want them in WAV form (and I'll pay!). Any ideas?

Anyone else out there got an obsession with old sampling instruments? I love Mellotron, Optigan and Orchestron samples so much! Got myself a working optigan and some tasty optigan discs, but no real Mellotron. I have some nice Mellotron samples loaded on my Korg Microsampler though. Anyone else in ATX got an Optigan or a Mellotron?

Optigan 1 is the final track on 13, and like Lot 105 from Parklife it is an instrumental track that serves as an epilogue for the album. The song is named for the use of an Optigan organ, which is the primary instrument heard in the song. We do get some light percussion along with some piano as well, but otherwise the Optigan organ dominates the song musically.

Fun fact, it also has a sample that was used in Minecraft’s Chirp, a Them Crooked Vultures song, and a Little Big Planet song, called “Bossa Nova”

Hello all. I've been looking for the optigan bossa nova disc samples for a while now. Direct recordings are preferred, but if you have one with little to no background noise, that'll do. Thanks in advance!

Upon hearing the song for the first time, I recognized one part that sounds like it could be sampled. It sounds like a wood block hit three times followed by three ascending piano notes. Is this something else or am I going crazy?

Does anyone know what the music sampled in Optigan 1 is from? Particularly the piano and drums - I know it from somewhere but cannot for the life of me figure out what it is!

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
